Navia is not a pirate, though I can see why you might think that; she is actually the leader of the Spina di Rosula (Corsican for Thorn of the Rose), which takes its inspiration from Mafia families.

@stressedhaish69420 yeah, in an odd way, my family or at least the Italian part of it back in 1920s were part in a group that was an Italian Mafia, but not the crime kind of Mafia or the evil ones, and more similar to the one Navia leads, eventually my family at the time reached the millions until they gave it away to live in America, My fathers side is German and they left Germany right in the 1920s, for a better workplace.

When you get to her story later on, you should definitely rewatch both her anime and trailers again cuz events are referenced that give you a lot more context into the answers you are seeking.

16:19 - I was confused too. But after a rewatch, one of the accessories on Navia's outfit came off, so Chiori is sighing because she's now gotta fix it. (Since she made Navia's outfit in the first place)
Navia - has a massive boat theme due to her where she grew up, but she's more of a mob boss than a pirate. She's a fantastic character in the story, and gets a TON of screen time, so they probably just wanted to make a fun trailer for her.

Arlecchinos Story is so well written. Theres a reason i like the Fatui Habringers so much: They seem to be the typical evil organisation at first glance, but each Harbibver we got to know closer till know has a complex Story, which makes them very interesting.
Also, Arlecchino just does so much damage, it's so satisfying to fight with her! ❤

Everyone loves daddy Arlecchino. You would have a hard time finding more than a handful of people in the community that aren't putting her in their top 10 favorites.
She is one of the most complex and well written characters in all of Hoyoverse's games, her design is absolutely peak, her gameplay is fun on top of being one of the absolute strongest DPS they've put in the game, and you'd be hard pressed to find someone that didn't wish they were that guy she was stepping on.
We're reaching the tail end of Fontaine with probably only 1-2 more updates before they move on to the next region and I am extremely excited to see what they're cooking with all the banger characters we've gotten so far.
They keep making better and better characters. Seems like each update has at least one that turns out to be our new favorite 🤩

Arlecchino’s lore goes MUCH deeper than it first seems (and it already looks very deep). Without spoiling anything, her “curse” may be due to her ancestry. Remember, in the “Emberfire” cinematic you saw last week, Arlecchino was using those dark flames and she didn’t even have a Vision at that point.
I’m pretty sure she gained her pyro vision due to her strong desire to assassinate the previous Knave.
Actually she did already have her vision at that point, it’s mentioned in her character stories.
Yeah Arlecchino has deep lore that the game hasnt really explored yet except through some connections through in game books etc.

The first time i saw Arlecchino i thought she's another hungry for fights harbinger with harsh altitude and evil look aka red eyes. But i was shocked when that harsh mask was removed just a little bit not fully. She's amazing! I can't wait for your reaction to Sumeru and Fontaine whole quests.
Pretty much the ENTIRE Fontaine crew goes absolutely insane. Navia being my favorite.

Navia (5-star Geo 🪨) is not a pirate. She’s pretty much the equivalent of a mafia boss, because Fontaine is based on France. She will be a very big part of the story when you get to Fontaine 3+ years from now, considering your Genshin cutscene watch rate.
Chevreuse (4-star Pyro 🔥) is more known being a good unit with other Pyro and even Electro characters because of her kit. Hence why she got released with Raiden Shogun. You’ll like her more when you get to her event story. Which again, is gonna take a long while considering where you are.
Cloud Retainer, or Xianyun, (5-star Anemo 🌪️) is indeed the first instance of an Adepti made playable. We’ve had a lot of information saying they could turn human, but haven’t seen it until then. 2 years later in fact. Thankfully a lot of people like her design and play style.
Just want to note, if you forgot, there was also that other crane and deer Adepti. Hoyoverse made human forms of them too, but they used generic NPC models, so a lot of fans got angry at that.
Gaming (4-star Pyro 🔥) is one of my more favorite characters due to his personality and event story. The way you pronounce his name is “GAH-MING”. It’s a Cantonese name, which is part of China. He’s also a support unit meant to supplement Xianyun’s play style.
Chiori (5-star Geo 🪨) is definitely very cool and a very skilled fighter in lore. Gameplay-wise, she’s more like a support unit for Geo characters. Specifically Navia, since they tend to to release the support characters with the main attackers. And due to her banner being before Arlecchino, a lot of people didn’t think it was worth rolling for her.
Arlecchino, also known as “Father”, (5-star Pyro 🔥) is one of the Fatui Harbingers. So the same rank as Childe. You’ve already seen her prowess when she was a young one, and even now she is someone not to be trifled with. And even though we just got a story with them, there’s still a lot of mystery to them.
She is actually higher as she is the 4th strongest of the 11 and I think Childe was 8th

Oh boy, when you ask about symbolisms in Genshin, you will summon the loremasters. 😆 But yeah, Arlecchino's demo actually really needed context discussed (and hidden) ingame. But that demo was perfect for her in every details.

Arlecchino is genshins favorite hands down. She got SO MUCH content and attention and she is OP in game as DPS character
Oh wow, I know I commented in the last vid that I wanted to see your reactions to more teasers and trailers, but I didn't think it would come this quick!
Father is a complex character and has a lot of fans, and Navia is also loved by a lot of the community. Genshin really outdid themselves with the female characters in Fontaine imo. Despite all the setbacks they face, we see them overcome their struggles, all with different attitudes and coping mechanisms... Some we get to see more screentime of, ofc, and it's a shame that Chevreuse's one is probably going to remain locked behind that film event... her backstory is also quite shocking.

I can see why you would say pirate. Fontaine is the land of hydro, so most things have sort of a nautical theme. So Navia operates a little bit outside the law when she has to, so I can see Nautical + Crime = pirate. But she generally doesn't go around steal ships and loot.
Fun fact! Chevreuse's (the rifle lady that likes crime novels) voice actress is also Loona from Helluva Boss!
This is unexpected, but nice to see new people experiencing these characters for the first time.

I think people have already explained that Arlecchino runs an orphanage called House of the Hearth. In her teaser Arlecchino referred to the child that died as "Snezhevna" but i dont think we know the actual name of the child.
The children of the house receive surnames, which is also a way to identify those who grew up in the orphanage as you run into quite a few of them during side quests in the game. Boys receive the surname Snezhevich meaning "Son of Snow" and girls receive the surname Snezhevna meaning "Daugther of Snow".
This bit is straight up copypasted from the wiki since idk how else to put it so.. " In real-life Russian, the -evich and -evna endings make them patronymics, which are secondary names that are based on the father's given name. Because the orphans have unknown parentage, the "Snow" is considered their "father," while the Tsaritsa is the "mother."

I dont want to be that person, but i recently rewatched a few of your older Trailer reactions. Do you plan on ever watching Cutscenes from Plague Tale Innocence/ Requiem or something similar? I would be so hyped for that! I think you Guys had a really interesting reaction, talkin about how the Inquisition worked at that time and how Amicia is a Child who doesnt choose direct confrontation. It would be so cool to see you take a closer look at the Story!

Genshin is like a horror game. It is dark. You have just seen Liyue Arc and have only done maybe one or two Dain quests. You will notice the darkness if you follow the story correctly. Arlecchino is not the worst you will see.
I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but next time you should definitely react to Alercchino's anime short "The song burning in the embers"
Navia, Chiori, & Arlecchino are all stylish characters, & they're also one of the strongest in-game right now.(coz most of Fontaine characters are strong)

Also the Gaming name is said/spelled more like Ga Ming (people who know more about the language it comes from could probably explain it better), so Genshin has a few characters where the name is in some cases have a space or a - but are spelled in game without either. Alhaitham is sometimes spelled Al-Haitham or Al Haitham for example. I don't know why that is, when you hear people in game say his name it becomes rather apparent how it's pronounced
The gaming meme got old real fast
They use the Cantonese pronunciation for him if my memory serves me right (usually the English translation uses Mandarin).
But I'm certain they are fully aware what they are doing, as there is no way a Chinese-based company suddenly choose a "different" pronunciation and mistype "Ga Ming" as "Gaming" at the same time.
@@aciesara5444 I heard Cantonese being put forth though I think my general confusion about which was because before the pronunciation came out, there a number of people were guessing. It could just be a translation thing maybe.
It just seems odd to me. Hu Tao's name has that space between it, but I saw some suggest it's because they're using only their given name, which has no space in it. So Hu is the family name, being called director Hu if I recall correctly. So it could just be an issue of these sort of details not being common knowledge. So Gaming's father's name is Yip Tak, so I suppose his name would be Yip Gaming? So there either shouldn't or doesn't need to be a space or dash, like how Chongyun doesn't have one?
I don't really know, this can be based on dialects and if they are using older more traditional things, like Alhaitham the Al being a more traditional/formal thing and as much as I enjoy languages, this is not one I'm familiar with
yes exactly gaming’s full name is yip gaming like how xiangling’s full name is mao xiangling! hoyo always transliterates chinese names as [surname personalname.] it’s canto bc he’s from chenyu vale, which is based on southern chinese culture (hui architecture, lion dancing, etc.)
also one thing i want to add is that obv ik ppl who are not familiar with chinese politics don’t understand the contextual reasons why it’s such a big deal for hoyo to faithfully represent cantonese culture and dialect but its tough hearing all those ppl say “mandarin would have been better” when you consider how cantonese speakers are discriminated against and a little uncomfortable to see people dismissing this rep as a publicity stunt when the game isn’t even primarily made for an english speaking audience 😅 like it’s meaningful to a lot of ppl yk?
@@astronought_ Oh no I get that, and yeah I didn't really know the stuff about the languages politics and so on.
I and likely many others probably don't know or remember that some of the characters do actually have a canon surname and it's not just that one name that's used.
That's what I largely meant about some stuff not being common knowledge, pair that with how Hu Tao has her surname included so it seems like her name has two parts that have that space, so with some people thinking that's just her given name or something, and one can see where the confusion comes from with some of the other Liyue characters.
I do think it's interesting, and important which is why I did try to figure out details for Gaming's name, how would I as a english speaking/writing person spell it? Similar to Alhaitham's name.
But at the end of the day Gaming is my newest Pyro boy and that's all that matters :3

I recommend punishing gray ravens and arknight PVs/trailers! Theyre very good and a joy to watch everytime
Genshin has always been fairly dark, and frequently strayed into horror, but they kept most of it to the big sidequests early in the game. Though some main quests sometimes have tinges of horror vibes and the overall story has some themes of existential horror. But when they got to Fontaine they dropped all pretence of the game being kid friendly and started talking about stuff like child trafficking openly in the main story. But it still hasn't gone proper horror in the main quest yet. The side quests though, ooh boy. They're usually emotionally draining and leave me feeling totally empty. Fun fact: there's a side quest where we, the main protagonist, assist in committing a genocide. They almost never have happy endings. Another memorable one is a child sacrifice - the English translation censored the exact method of how he was sacrificed, but in the original Chinese it was explicit and horrific.
Genshin's lore and backstory is very deep and complex in a way that the main quest generally doesn't touch upon. The Sumeru desert alone has a whole history of multiple civilisations rising and falling. Once you've finished reacting to the main story, if you ever want to get into the deep lore, I highly recommend the youtuber Ashikai. She does great recaps and theory videos.
19:57 always had been. It was just not in your face horror. The lore of some places and npcs is dark (human sacrifice/teste subject, children being manipulate to do evil, etc)

Arlecchino is one of the most mysterious characters we have in the game. Like not even her Storyquest told us anything about her.
For example, how she’s the 4th Harbinger and yet in her voiceline about the 2nd one (considered stronger than her) she basically, VERY confidently, says that shes able to kill him. Like huh??? Girl what u have up your sleeve??

Ganyu is also an adepti (though half human), Rex Lapis is technically the Prime Adepti but also Archon, Yanfei's father is an adepti and she has the lineage but shes half human and young enough to never have made a contract with Rex Lapis, Xiao is an adepti and also a Yaksha, Qiqi is technically an adepti sort of but not really.
With how much they built up on Arlecchino, I was expecting a lot more from her quest. Instead, we got a summary of what we already knew. The quest is still enjoyable, but I guess they went light with the dark theme for the sake of keeping the game child friendly. Still though, I would've appreciated an expansion on Arlecchino's character and her story more than anything, but I guess that's just me once again being punished for expecting anything from Genshin or anything rated PG.

My Fontaine experience has been distinctly Geo blessed, but unsuccessful in every other way.
I wished for Furina, but nobody showed up.
I wished for Navia and she arrived… she even brought her signature axe~! ❤️
I wished for Chiori and she arrived too, bringing her signature katana~! ❤️
I wished for Arlecchino… but somehow my Arlecchino turned out to be the tinier, sword-wielding Ice version… ^_^;;;

Genshin's always been a horror game, they're just not hiding it so much anymore
I feel like it needs to be clarified that the main story isn’t near to being horror, although in Inazuma, Sumeru and especially Fontaine it had gotten way darker the Archon quests and events (aka what Ken and Bethany tend to watch) haven’t really gone all out on horror (yet, maybe in the future?) but yeah the _Lore_ of Genshin has always been extremely dark, from the world quests to the in-game books and item descriptions Genshin has always had some very disturbing stories.

Yeah most of the characters have pretty dark and tragic backstories, and many of the world quests are very dark and brutal. Just the main story (archon quest + character story) haven't really dipped into it much yet.

Navia's is sort of in the grey area of the law, she's a celebrity and daughter of a nautical railroad baron, but also head of a gang that functions like private security or mafia. They are the types to uphold the peace and solve problems, but maybe acknowledge they might have to break a few knee caps to get the job done.

One thing that really disappointed me in chiori is her garbage kit. You mentioned that she may go with Navia.... She doesn't. Long story short, chiori scales from two stats instead of one, (with different ratios) her kit is all towards constructs and mono geo team. Navia, on the other hand, absolutely don't want full geo. Her best team is 2geo2pyro. Hoyo wasted so much potential in chiori that is not even funny. They made her into an incredibly niche, clunky, redundant char (she takes the spot of another geo limited char: Albedo). I was going to pull her (I also like her personality) if she was the best for Navia.... She wasn't. Disappointment.
I loved using Albedo, and Chiori is just a far better Albedo. Doesn't exactly make her a good character, but her personality makes up for it entirely. Geo just has the best characters.
@@pal1d1nl1ght that's called powercreep. and she did it on a char that did not needed at all. also, albedo is used, pretty much exclusively, on mono geo teams with Itto. (or noelle eventually) but this, by extension, makes Chiori useful only on one team and one only. when, on the other, hand, a more general approach to her kit (geo res shred? geo damage buff? geo infusion? and so on) she wound have become the best for BOTH Itto and Navia team. damn even Noelle and Ning wound have been buffed, extending MASSIVELY her usability. oh, also, what does her ulti do? mmmm oh! now i remember. NOTHING! her uli does literally NOTHING. geo aoe damage. that's all. how ORIGINAL. from a 5* limited with an already limiting kit (pun intended). i LOVE her character. her sassiness and free spirit. but pull a unit to let her rot at lvl 20 because i dont gave Itto nor i intend to build a mono geo team? so i decided to skip and save for Electro Mommy Clorinde.
