Jet engined Ford Focus passes the 400m line in 9.6 seconds with a speed of 272 km/h ..This video was taken on 24th of June 2006 at Milan Dragway in Detroit Michigan
Richard Schroeder was my mentor and boss as well before he passed away. The man was a visionary before his time. Good to see this video is still up and around. Thank you for this trip down memory lane.
Probably one of the small Pratt & Whitney engines out of a Bell helicopter... Yeah, they are cool! I got to see Les Shockly break 400mph in Super Shockwave last year at the Great Georgia Air Show....That was awesome!
I now own this car. Engine is j85, j85 is top fuel motor for jet cars. To this date when Jerry Segal drove car for Richard it went 216 and could of went faster, but when it such a short wheel base you don't push the limit. The j85 in a dragster is even faster. The car right now will soon start a full make over to look like the 2017 up coming focus. See page link m.facebook.com/Focusthisjet
i dont know what jet engine they used but it was fairly a small one comparing the one in my other video of a jet ambulance...jet engine vehicles are not good at startin from zero..they pickup speed as they move,,,a lot of speed actually :) they will keep accelerating miles and miles if the structure is good enough to hold it together..its fun to watch though!
9.6s in a jet car? That's not that fast...But for a home-grown type, I guess that's good....Wonder if it still gets over 20mpg....? ^^ Any idea on what jet engine they used?
This car isn't fast for the 1/4, but just imagine how fast this car could go if it didn't have to let go of the throttle after a 1/4 mile? I wonder what its top speed is.

The car was purchased by neal darnell our of Springfield, Mo about a month ago. He also owns and drives the Jet power S10 pickup called Flash Fire.
That's a J-85 in that car. Googled it, and found their website. Car was designed, and driven by Richard Schroeder, who recently passed away.
