I watched every minute of that fake Switch video when it came out and loved it, what a rollercoaster. Really frustrating that people can't take 5 minutes to verify anything themselves but I guess that's the internet (and I guess tbf there's not really any reason someone should suspect that you're lying about lying)

I am a big fan of your Chanel been watching it for years. And I feel that your content stands on its own two feet and that when you do the click bait stuff it detracts from you being awesome. But regardless the videos themselves are always good quality and entertaining and that’s all that really matters at the end of the day really
For the "Switch 2" video, you definitely could have rephrased it though, to save you some Twitter comments lol. Like "This Thing Is Even Better Than The Switch" or "We Don't Need A Switch 2!", something like that. Anything that doesn't feel as "clickbait". Just my two cents.

As someone with social anxiety disorder, thank you for talking about your mental health struggles and journey. It can be a hard conversation to have, but the more folks who have those conversations the easier it is for people to know they aren't alone when they have similar struggles, that help exists and can actually help, and to know they can also be open about these topics which just makes it better for everyone.

First off, BeatEmUps using All Time Low lyrics to start off the description of the video is fantastic 🤘🤘🤘 Secondly, coming from the tech space and being a part of your audience, I feel like your perspective on each new handheld is incredibly valid, especially since the Switch audience is one that is very much a "Console only" kind of crowd and could use the insight into what "two console" solution could be best for them.
I would love to see some more BTS of the creative work, like how you got the new space into what it is now, and how your route your Twitch streams.

My thinking is this, do what you enjoy doing, and I'm sure we'll all enjoy it too. Additionally, the fanmail videos were so cool. It was really cool seeing what people would make for you and Kim, as well as the customised stuff, and just generally seeing how much people who sub to you care about your content and how much you appreciated everyone else in return. So maybe someday that can come back. In any case, do things on the channel that spark joy for you and make you happy, Wood.

Wood, I know you don't really read comments much, and that's fine. I've been a viewer of your channel for like 7 years now, I've sent something in for fan mail, commented countless times from my various channels. I do not mean harm with this comment. I know you mean well and overall your channel tends to be an *absolute joy* to watch, I LOVE the videos with you and Bob or you and Kim bouncing goofiness off each other. I know you get an absurd amount of backlash for things you absolutely shouldn't.
But as someone who typically tells everyone else to "get over it" when it comes to complaints about titles and bait, even I have found your titles a bit "too far" in the falseness camp. Which, on its own, would honestly not be a big deal (who am I, why would my complaint matter?) and I do not say anything, but videos like this kind of... sting more. It feels like you just don't "get it."
The "Biggest Switch Collection ever" video is a poor example - everyone's collection or setup tours are plastered with hyperbolic titles and claims that aren't true, but since it's the example here I want to still use it to illustrate my point.
It's not (really) a problem to have hyperbolic claims in your titles. That's the name of the game. I think what rubs people the wrong way *in a more impactful way* is the fact that you DO jump right in the start to be like "haha this is a LIE" "I pulled one over on ya!" "I lied to you yet again!" that just... feels gross. I want to see your creative/logical reasoning to back up the unbelievable title (aka just showing the games, talking about your journey to get there) not to immediately be told I was lied to. It's not "addressing the title right away" to just tell us you lied to us. That's still clickbait. To deliver on the clickbait is to just... focus on delivering it. If someone disagrees with the claim despite your efforts to back it up - cool, whatever, doesn't matter. But to just cop out with "I lied to you" feels like you don't give a crap and don't understand why someone would be bothered by it.
Ultimately, this doesn't matter. It's a video title, and that particular video wasn't even one that bothered me. (Some of the others like "Nintendo sent me Switch 2 early!" are FAR more egregious for so many reasons.) BUT I really feel like you'd do a lot better to mitigate the constant feed of BS you get about these things if you'd stop being so blatant/seemingly oblivious about it. If it was a genuine attempt at delivering on the title, that's one thing, but to just say "haha I lied to you, I got your view now" IMMEDIATELY sours the mood going into the video, and at that point it doesn't matter if it was the best video in the world, you've started off on the wrong foot.
Think of clickbait titles as a challenge the viewer poses to you to "prove it." Except it's SUPER EASY to win that challenge because you're a skilled/charismatic creator that's been doing this a long time and makes great videos. But if you start is by saying you lost the challenge and never even took it in good faith, that is a bad look.
Rather than feeling like you have to make videos to just say "yeah I said it was a lie within 5 seconds, bro", consider taking a moment to see what exactly people are bothered by and why it seems to be such a sticking point with YOUR videos more than others. Because as someone who has enjoyed your channel for the better half of a decade, who has benefitted from the joy of your content during some pretty hard times, and who has taken plenty of inspiration from you and you/Kim's enjoyment of all this... it feels gross every time, and these kinds of responses are nothing short of disappointing for a problem that is extremely easy to solve and/or prevent.

I think you’re reading way too far into that title and statement about it being a lie. I didn’t say “that title is a lie haha click bait”. I said it’s probably a lie because I have no idea who has the biggest collection, it’s not documented, and as far as I can see this is the largest collection video on the internet. I’m sure someone has more, I just don’t know who.
I’m completely confident in my title and my content for that video. I was addressing the people that thought I thought I had the biggest, when I had already addressed I’m sure I don’t.

It's LITERALLY clickbaiting and lying to the viewers. Call it "good clickbaiting" if you want to make yourself feel better, but it doesn't matter how much you defend yourself, you are still lying and trying to get attention & views with a thumbnail and title like that.

Proud of you for getting help. I know that, personally, I was really scared to medicate my anxiety for a while. I’ve had problems being a**icted to stuff in the past, and I was scared I would start to misuse meds if I took them, but you’re so right. It sometimes is needed to just remember how non-anxiety can feel, and anyone who’s got anxiety: You deserve to feel better. You don’t have to stay anxious, however you decide to get help.

Honestly, I've been going through a lot of stuff similar to what you talked about in the "we are not happy" video, from the quasi-agoraphobia to the random bouts of debilitating depression. A lot of it is related to my (un)employment status and wanting to shift careers but not knowing how. It's tough, but I think I can get where I want to be in the end.
Regardless of the origin, I'm grateful for people like you and Kim for being open with struggles, however difficult it is to do. It really means a lot to people like me. Thank you to you both.
I was a recent follower on you beatemup and the video when you go to japan, get every Nintendo game in game stop to explaining whats best Nintendo games to gift for Christmas was a very realxing stress free content, and I really love every bit of it specifically the humor frwaking funny all the time. 😂

After seeing the hate from people in this video I feel like sharing this now. About 5 years ago I was watching a ton of wood’s video as I was pretty much paralyzed and stuck in my house due to anxiety and depression, I remember watching him thinking I wish I was as happy and cheerful as he is. Then I got to a video where he talks about growing up with anxiety and depression and how Zelda helped him. I couldn’t believe someone I was wishing I could be like went through what I was going through at the time. Wood you gave me the power to believe my mental illness would not stop me and I can be like you. Thank you.
You seem like an honest dude, and I am a new watcher so I'll share my experience with anxiety.
My first full on blown panic attack was a result of a nasty caffeinated overdose (Monster Energy with Coffee?!). My heartrate got super fast and I couldn't calm down and I felt scared to being alone (and being an introvert this was a big surprise). But then afterwards my heartrate became slow, felt faint, cold, and scared. I lost consciousness and woke up hours later, but I was alive. It took almost a year before my body could get back to 'normal', but before that the anxiety was insanely sensitive and I had panic attacks often.
Directing my comment to chat, people don't quite realize that anxiety affects people differently, whether from pushing the limits of social interaction (working in retail or customer service) or (in my case) an overdose. Everyone's body chemistry is different and while it might seem insignificant on the outside, we're all fighting a daily battle you know nothing about.
He's not an honest dude, he has been exposed faking his mental illness before, and just last month he was exposed as charity fraud

As someone who deals with GAD, and becoming agoraphobic in 2020, I get it. The hyper state, the feeling like you’re going to have a heart attack (sadly a regular symptom for me) and finding your way back to your ‘baseline’….thank you for speaking candidly about it and your experience. It does so much to further normalize talking about mental health. You’re a badass Wood.
I dont have a problem with Wood himself. Im goad his mental health is doing better and i think his videos are quite good. I just have a problem with the blatent lying clickbait. You can hook your viewers in without lying. He can say he didnt lie all he wants, but the video clearly says he was supposedly sent the Switch 2 and the thumbnail shows him holding a device that looks similar to a Switch and is clearly using the Switch homescreen. Just say "this handheld is just like a Switch 2" or something instead of just lying. Also, he points out how six seconds into the collection video he clarifies that the title is a lie so its fine, but he already has the view at that point so he already scammed you into watching. You could very easily just put a "possibly" in there. The videos that are blatent clickbait i just dont watch because I'm not going to support that. The videos themselves are great, just dont lie to get me to watch.

The problem with people this big is he will have fans that defend him no matter what and that will in turn make the person feel like he’s right there’s people in the comments now not holding him accountable for the clickbait and lies I feel bad for them cause they don’t know they’re being manipulated granted his audience is mostly kids

TotK Switch lie video was one of my favorite videos of past year on UA-cam. It was a rollercoaster, but this sudden switch was like a good movie lol, very creative, very satisfying, I couldn't stop watching it.

If you don't have haters, you either just started or you are deleting the hate comments. I know people who hate other people for no reason and lovely internet anonymity helps people drop their steaming pile of hate with little to no consequences. Of course some people get hate on levels that nobody deserves or more hate than warranted (example Lily Pichu getting hate for her voice that she cannot control), but yeah as you said, it's inevitable.

I've been there and it took my husband actually telling me that it was okay to go get help and to try medication for me to actually start to feel better so I'm proud of you guys I know it's hard and it's still long journey but still very proud of you guys and praying for healing for you both.❤❤❤
The YT algo sent me to some of those 'drama' videos last year.
It was pretty hilarious to see some complete unknowns and some drama farmers try some mental gymnastics to make a big deal about 'clickbait'. But the character attacks were a bit much.
I dunno. I'm just another rando that enjoys your videos, has for many years. Until I see a mugshot I'm going to just assume your an OK dude. And I appreciate the talks about anxiety since my SO and kid suffer from it, too. Keep up the great work.

as a long time sufferer of many mental health issues, it gets better, it gets worse. Don't be afraid to switch meds and make changes. You can do it. I loved all your content with Billy and Jay and thats where I learned about you from. You got this. Keep it up Wood you are a real one.
I just watched another video from someone talking bad about your channel about your titles. And I thought it was so weird. Because I’m surprised people couldn’t pick up on the joke of these titles. And watching your video will actually legitimately tell you the truth! I’ve seen so many YT channels do this. It’s not a new thing. And I think it’s weird that people don’t understand/pick up on it. Because fans of your channel will quickly pick up on these jokes, and I think it’s great being able to do something like that with your fans.
I think you should keep doing what you’re doing. Ignore the hate from people who don’t understand your harmless joke. ❤ you’re the most chill gaming channel!
Which handheld console (expet the switch) is better? Or would just a pc be more recommend? I dont really know a lot but i want to play more games that arnt on the switch😂

and with the endless, tiring switch 2/pro videos all over the internet essentially since 6 months after the switch was originally released, clickbaiting with switch 2 in the title was just not necessary.
we all know i was a good idea for the algo, but people expect better from you and you know it.
if you wanted to show your viewers "this is LIKE a better switch", put that in the damn title. what you did was make people who probably would not have cared as much about it think there would truly be something they do care about from a big switch guy who might have secret insider knowledge for some reason

I don’t thinks he’s hiding the fact that he’s click baiting click baiting is a good way to get engagement on a video I think he’s rather talking about how people are hating on him for doing something a lot of people do.

It’s probably weird to say but knowing you have similar anxiety to me is comforting in a way meditation as difficult as it can be to ask for help really made a difference for me personally. With regards to clickbate I haven’t done it myself but I understand why people do it gets views and traction I enjoy your review videos I find them informative and have helped me pick up a game and a few times put me off ones I was on the fence about. This is such a long comment lol but as long as what you do makes you happy then keep going just make sure to take care of yourself and the same to Kim

While I do find some click baity titles annoying, most of the time I just don't look at the title anymore. It's just the next Wood video, and the video itself is always enjoyable
Hey Wood, really curious which anxiety meds the doctors gave you. I've been on Propanalol for a few months, hasnt't had much of an effect. I know there isnt an all-in-one solution, but I'd love to do a bit of research and ask around 🙏🏻
The most important is you’ve got better. And don’t pay attention to twitter. It was and still is a toxic dump. Now probably even more than ever. If your own audience (followers) gives you an overall positive feedback just don’t listen to anyone else who stamped on your video and didn’t even bother watching. Thank you for an amazing year of content.

How come you didn’t address your blind support of the completionist’s charity fraud while claiming that Karl and Muta (the people who brought this information into the limelight) were making it up for “drama”? You knew what you were doing with this title, just like you knew what you were doing with all the other clickbait titles.
He apologised on Twitter and the two accepted his apology, way to spread misinformation.
