Dede you are a smart confident and capable groomer. The education you provide for the “parents” is essential. Pets are a responsibility and folks need to do their homework on the type of dog they are getting and how to care for it. I think people do more research on fish for their tanks, than the well being of their dogs and cats. Good job. Thanks for sharing . 🇨🇦

Love when owners get involved. I tried to bath, dry and trim the nails of a very scared Saint Bernard. Was only able to bath, deshed and dry. Had to drag her into the tub with the owner and dry her with the owners help. Poor dog scared of everything. Couldn't trim nails or do potty cut. How do I help this sweet scared dog get used to being groomed? She needs her feet trimmed and a potty cut. She will hurt herself before she lets me use clippers or scissors? Please any tips or ideas would be great.
I love watching your videos! Have learned so many amazing things. Plus I love your great personality!
    Thanks Chris

Fernanda Vilela yes! He is very good per parent. Calm yet firm. In my opinion, men tend to handle dogs better since they are straightforward while women seem to let emotion affect their decision and some dogs are smart enogh to snap the mood swing and use it for their benefit of being spoil. So quick note to female onwer, be firm and cold headed sometime once you deal with dogs or children.

He's 6'2'', 200lbs, biker looking guy, and any kid/dog/animal knows a sucker when they see it, and he is a sucker...lol Our lab's name is Beauty and she controls his bedtime, car rides, etc...lol At 9 pm she starts whining and standing in front of our bedroom door, and if he doesn't get ready for bed she'll grab his pantleg and pull him that direction and he will go...lol I really should make a video of her and him. She even meets him at the door when he gets home from work with a hug and kisses. She gets so excited that she nearly has happy seizures, whereby if I am cooking or cleaning and she is in the kitchen (which is a no no) and I say, "Beauty, what are the rules?" she'll slink out because she knows that she is not supposed to be in there.

Hi my name is jo, I'm a retired groomer 40 yrs I miss it so much my hands are in so much pain now grooming is very physical had 3 surgeries from grooming lol but that's ok it was worth it to make all my babies pretty and handsome! I love watching these videos and I've had mean vicious dogs who hot thrown out of many salons and my motto was they all have to look and feel happy so I kept telling people to bring the nasty ones back do I could earn their trust wich I did what s joy it was when they walked through the door and the mommy would say " wheres jo"? And the dog would run into my arms!! I cried many times because I won them over. So I'm going back to the video enjoy hope she eventually does a cute puppy cut. Have a happy day 😉🐶🐕🐶🐕🐶🐕🐶

Dede could probably make a video entitled "Why Is My Dog So Matted?" for the amount of owners she has who make no effort to groom their dogs. He was very well behaved considering the state of his fur. The owner was so good with him, shows he should have some time in the day for easy grooming.

I don’t think that ALL parents r neglecting their babies on purpose. For example, the sweet gentleman here with Jax. You can tell he loves him & is sorry 4 not doing his part at home. I think that a lot of dog owners r just clueless. (Don’t get me wrong now, some r just lazy & expect Dede to do it!)

    • @rewghob
      @rewghob 6 років тому +5

Kim Marquis Well he loves him, but there's more to it than that. She said that the curly breeds need daily grooming. He mentioned that the kids wanted the hair long, but don't understand the upkeep. Of course they don't, they're children who want something to pet. I do find a lot of Dede's owners to be a little laid back about their matted dogs, so a video giving tips on avoiding this might help them out. I agree that not all owners are this complacent. It just seems she gets a lot of matted dogs that require a shave because the owners drop the ball or expect the kids to chip in.

It’s rediculous to b so dang nervous. It’s like I’ve told her, it’s not like their Showdogs or something!!! Dad seems to care a lot about Jax & even owned up to not brushing him. Why do you label so many videos "aggressive or mean" when many of these dogs are not either. You don't need the click bait DeeDee, you are better than that. People watch because they want to, not because your titles. This dog was not aggressive in any way yet you label him that way. You said in the video at one point that "I don't see aggression". I have to do my own dogs, I have 3 Scottish terriers and I have found almost impossible to find a groomer in my area that I'm happy with. One of my dogs has high anxiety so she always come out a wreck (she also HATES hair dryers). One of my dogs is fine but the third hates anyone going near his feet. So I brush them daily with a soft brush and weekly with a furminator. I shave them once in March and maybe again during the summer depending on how it grows. I'm still terrible at giving them a true Scottish terrier style...but I dont care, they're happy, that's what matters. I also have a British longhair and a ragdoll, which I brush daily. Once it's in your routine it really doesn't take that long or that much effort.

When you get a doodle mix you have to remember that even though there is really no shedding that means we as owners have to put effort into doing brushy time, mine at my house is early in the morning before I go to work. (7:00am)

Attention potential dog owners!!! Just because a dog doesn't shed doesn't mean they're hair doesn't require work. Our 10 pound cavapoo takes more work than our German shepherd and costs more for her grooming than the shepherd not to mention she needs to be groomed every 6-8 weeks.

    +My Favorite Groomer
Regarding the trouble you had doing his feet...
I hope this will help someone.
It is so important to start grooming poodles and doodles and any dog whose feet will need to be clipped at a very young age. If you are not going to groom the dog until it's older, be sure to handle the dog's feet often so that the dog will be able to tolerate having his feet groomed when the time comes. This will work with any dog that has this issue, so even if your dog is older, start now. Give a treat and praise when the dog doesn't pull his foot away from your hand.
I learned this myself the hard way.

Dede - I'm an amateur groomer going mobile upon return from deployment (CTR/VET). You often mention "Groomer's Helper" & use a modified groomer's lead affixed to arm... Instructor/Owner at grooming school I completed in SC had a muzzle style restraint that connected to arm. I've only seen it ONCE in a catalog tucked at bottom of a page. Not "Head Support" by Romani. It's just like a standard cheap open nose nylon muzzle w/ a strap that fastens forward of the muzzle around the arm. This immobilized pet w/ nose about 3" from arm. When I find it again I'm buying 10! Any idea what I'm speaking of? Where to buy online? Thanks for your VETeran support & shoutouts! Keep up the gr8 work!

Especially one of their latest ones, I don't remember the title but it involved how most people don't do gradual enough training.

They have a hard time cooling themselves off / down. I'd fur sure keep hair short in hot weather. Thanks

Nice job! Very soothing to watch. BTW the dog was aggressive I could see if the dog owner had not been there things might not have got done and the dog was not made feel threatened in any way. Corporate dog stores I've seen make these animals feel threatened and come home all bruised and cut. From my experience.

very impressive. I would love a video on paws and face , specifically if possible. I have a miniature Schnoodle who is agreeable now, after 8 years to me grooming him. Or the professionals. But with me he does not allow me too much on his paws and face.....I had bought a small clipper just for that called a Peanut (was recommended by another youtube video /groomer ) and I would love that clipper but it is noisy as heck which is what makes him nervous about that. He is better with it than previously but it would help to know how a confident groomer deals with it. I love the tsk tsk noise you do with dogs. Thanks for the videos. I should add, I don't have professional clippers so I use the kind for people but with small guides for the most part. Oh and , I am nervous when shaving coat around his dewclaws and he is, too. Should I be? Do they get injured easily for the way they stick out, or are they super sensitive? I know nothing about dewclaws other than they exist. ok hopefully my last edit.......now that I watched you groom Jack's genital area....that is something else I am not confident about with my male dog....it looks like you had no problem shaving that area right off, but is there a specific thing I should do or not do, with my dog there with clippers?

His coat looks extremely similar to the Jack Rusell x Cairn Terrier my dad has. She hasn't got any mats, sometimes she gets them on her stomach but they're only small ones and not close to the skin so I'm able to cut them off. The labradoodle's markings are very similar as well wich is amusing

    • @jriley4u

I agree and most of the time what she calls a matt, isnt. It could easily be brushed out. Like this dogs back. Those werent matts. Just silky curly fur intertwined. The fur wasnt pulling on the skin. Otherwise people with curly hair could be called matted too. Matts can be found in areas that rub as in between the legs, under the front legs. Under the ears. Then they grow to other areas. This dog was not matted on it's back.

The parents at home could get out some clippers and turn them on and let the dog listen to the sound and then give them some chicken. And then just rub the side of the clippers on them for a few minutes and then give some more chicken. Then the dog will associate the sound of the clippers with chicken and might be happy when they get turned on. The parent could do it for a few minutes a couple times a week also and then the dog might get used to the sound and it could help some dogs
