I not only dedicate this to the people of my wonderful Clydebank but also to everyone the world over that have been affected by tragedies.
I also want to say that I feel so much for the people of Japan, I have an amazing friend who lives there and thankfuly she and her family are safe but there are so many others that are less fortunate.
Excellent documentary. I grew up in Clydebank and watching this has given me renewed respect for my old hometown. It also, somehow, makes me more empathetic for refugees around the world nowadays. These are heartbreaking stories that haven't ever been told like this. Thanks, Mr. McGuinness.
History we have never been taught in Scotland. Rest in Peace, we will never forget.
I never stopped hearing about it grown up, My own mother and grandparents got bombed out on the first night, I’am actually the offspring of one of the survivors of Scotland’s greatest ever disaster in history 🙏❤️🏴
My mother was 8 months pregnant on 13 and 14 March 1941 and she was shipped out to Motherwell where she give birth to my brother. All our family worked in Browns or munitions somewhere on the Clyde and they all survived - and one of the saddest stories my Mum told me about was the Rocks family. My Gran and Papa lived at 8 Castle Square, Dalmuir, (where I was born in 1948) and she told me that the close behind there, either Kitchener Street, or Jellicoe Street, containing the whole Rocks family was directly hit by a bomb and they were all lost. All four floors contained members of the Rocks family. She remembers the bodies being pulled from the Forth and Clyde canal. I cannot thank the author of this enough for highlighting just what Clydebank went through. The English do not believe that Clydebank suffered higher bomb tonnage than Coventry - because it was all supressed. My old history teacher at Clydebank High, Dr. McPhaill wrote a book on what happened. I wish I had him in front of me now to ask him all about it. It all makes me so proud to be a Clydesider and part of the people of steel.
My grandpa Liam McGuire who lives with his 3 sisters and his parents survived, my grandpa lost many friends during the bombing, but without the courage and bravery of my family I wouldnt be here today
Thank you so much for putting this up. I had no idea of the destruction and horror that hit the Clyde during the war. I could see that the home where some of my great-great-aunts and uncles lived must have been destroyed although they survived, thankfully. Thank you again.
My Grandmother was only a baby but her family survived this terrible event, I never realized how bad it was but... this gives me a new respect for what my great grandmother went through when her husband was missing for six weeks.
Omg that poor guy John who lost all his family. How horrifying for him...poor guy. 😪

My Grandpa grew up clydebank, he was 9 when the war started, he’s told me many stories of the Clydebank blitz and told me about the Rock family
Same mines was 4 at the time.
We were at the La Scala on the 13th. We all survived. So lucky. But it never leaves you. I was just 3 at the time a fortnight to my fourth birthday.
My dads family lived in parkhall and all survived,but my mums family were right in the middle of it,the shelter in dalmuir got hit with my mum her sister and my granny all in it,they had to be dug out and 8 friends and neighbours died,they were all evacuated for the 2nd night ,but my grandad (a Police Constable ) J H Mac Donald stayed on duty,this is a great programme.
My Grandpa and his family also lived in Parkhall, they resided on Maple drive and were in their Anderson shelter during the attack. My Grandfather passed this year in April at the age of 93💔
My own mother and grandparents got bombed out on the first night they then had to walk 10 miles to Carntyne to my great grandparents house with what they could salvage and with 7 Wean’s, So I’am actually the offspring of one of the survivors of Scotland’s greatest Ever disaster! 🏴❤️🙏

My gran was apart of it she was 8 at the time and she was blown up by a land mine and luckily she had only got a busted head and a lost leg She talks to me and my cousins about it because you could see her scars and everyone asks why she has a huge bump on her head and why she only had 1 leg
