Two of the best talents Scotland ever had. Taggart was never the same after mark McManus passed away and Rikki Fulton was brilliantly funny used to love all the scotch & wry stuff
+guyster1973uk I don't think Ricky Fulton was ever big outside Scotland, admittedly I'd never heard of him up to now, but I practically grew up watching Taggart and watched a lot of Rab C Nesbitt. Billy Connolly is the obvious choice when mentioning Scottish Comedians.
I think it all depends on when you were born..Rikki was around 10 years before Billy. Many Scottish actors and singers were happy to play to the "home" audiences... The Corries were a classic example.
Laughed through the tears at this. I remember this sketch well and it set me thinking about all that's happened in the intervening decades. It still has the power to make us smile and laugh, that seems a rare enough commodity these days so thanks very much for posting this.
In a group I belong to, someone had posted the drunken weatherman sketch, and I got talking about this as being one of my all time favourite Scotch & Wry sketches, so had to come looking for it. Was so happy to find it and to find it was still funny today. This programme was always my favourite part of New Year and it is sorely missed by me. Never seemed like a "proper"' New Year until you had watched it. Happy memories of two talented and memorable Scotsmen. They both may be gone now but thankfully their memory still lives on in things like this.
What a great selection of classic sketches, from one of Scotland's best entertainers Ricki Fulton. His many characters including Rev. I. M. Jolly. And his partnership as one half of Francie and Josie. His Supercop was a laugh, especially when he met Taggart himself, Mark McManus.
I only understood 90% of the show, but I tell u these two terrific actors made my days when I was a lone oversea student in cold/damp Belfast in 80s. RIP Rikki.I.M.Jolly and McManus.
Magical How mark macmanus kept a straight face Have been nearly in hysterics underneath how ne kept a straight he must Face must be legendary this makes this Sketch one of the greatest ever made equal with the two ronnies fork handles
MissFlowerofScotland I must thank you. You've got a nice channel. And in South Australia, It's a problem if I see, you're like again. You know how they are? Anyway, thank you for the Rikki Fulton. I gave it to other Scots living here.
'The southside slasher!' - 'Is that the rain comin on?' havnae seen this sketch since it was on (mid-80s?) but can still remember the lines. Taggart on Scotch & Wry was a big fuckin deal then - ITV cop superstar on a BBC programme!
Shame they couldn't have got Sir Alex Ferguson to do a couple of a episodes, it would have been class and a fitting tribute, Alex Is a natural on the screen.Just as Mark was, They even look similar. R.I.P Mark and Rikki.
To be serious for a moment, a friend of mine, a serving police officer, said that Supercop was right in what he does at the start - he is a traffic cop & saw a driver breaking road traffic laws - dealing with these incidents is his job....
Hogmanay isn't the same without Rikki Fulton. The once a year treat we Scots looked forward to.
My God what a spot on comment ❤😂
Yeah , your totally right, the reverend i m jolly was the best 🤣
I've watched this hundreds of times. It never gets old.
Yeah me too
"OK, Stirling, oot the car!"
How McManus could keep his face straight is beyond me
If only they had the ‘bloopers or behind the scenes for this
Years of practise on Taggart. Hardly smiles😀
I bet mark macmanus was thrilled to be on the show. This is sheer entertainment.

Yer right there... They were.

2 of the best Scottish talents very sadly missed.
Mark McManus was a truly awful actor
You forget how funny this was and how poor New Years Eve is without it.
You're not wrong there!
The so called comedy shows on hogmanay these days are as funny as an itchy arse. Utter rubbish.
Laughed through the tears at this. I remember this sketch well and it set me thinking about all that's happened in the intervening decades. It still has the power to make us smile and laugh, that seems a rare enough commodity these days so thanks very much for posting this.
I grew up this from ma father, every new year i couldnt wait for scotch and wry to come on,so much amazing memories...rikki fulton rip.
A big light went out in Scotland when Rikki Fulton left us.

Classic sketch played to perfection by Rikki and Mark
Out of so many classic scenes this has to be the ultimate back in the day .. couldn't stop laughing as a young teen in Fife..
Lovely mix of 2 talented men. Each one masters of their craft!
It says a lot for these Supercop sketches that, when Rikki died, Strathclyde Police insisted on giving his hearse a police escort.
This one was always the best Supercop sketch
Rikky fulton can't be bypassed .he makes me happy and proud to be Ssots ♥
One of the first sketches I saw of Rikki. Always brings me a smile watching that.
"This is the Polis, it doesney say Kiss me quick up there!"

Rikki Fulton so loved, so missed. 💕
"Inspector? Like oan The Buses?"
I heard this on cassette years ago, and I've never seen the real thing until now! So glad you've put this up! Thanks so much!
Ricky was the boss in his heyday absolutely brilliant, second to none, still top notch today, sorry about his ailing health, love him
You know Rikki passed away in 2004? There'll never be another. Legend.
Methinks you're thinking of The Big Yin there.
I'm part Scottish myself but we use to get Scots and Wry send down from Scotland to Yorkshire were I come from love it
Im sure on a couple of occasions you could see Mcmanus trying not to start laughing!!
He never even smiled in Taggart. Great programme.
I feel a rain coming on’. Made me burst out laughing
Would love it if they could repeat an episode of this classic Hogmanay comedy series.
Supercop's a legend!
Missing all my friends .I can't tell you how much .stay safe and we can breath again x
"Oh well you stick in son and maybe one day you'll get a nice uniform like mine." hahahaha 🤣😂😆😄 Rikki Fulton was so funny.

MissFlowerofScotland I must thank you. You've got a nice channel. And in South Australia, It's a problem if I see, you're like again. You know how they are? Anyway, thank you for the Rikki Fulton. I gave it to other Scots living here.

Omg ❤ pissin masel
Scotch and Wry very popular north of the border a great shame it was never seen in England
That's cause they're from north of the border and besides England wouldn't show it cause they would never understand it.
Shame they couldn't have got Sir Alex Ferguson to do a couple of a episodes, it would have been class and a fitting tribute, Alex Is a natural on the screen.Just as Mark was, They even look similar. R.I.P Mark and Rikki.
Or gordon brown!
Hey listen me......NO YOU LISTEN ME
LOL
Good catch.
To be serious for a moment, a friend of mine, a serving police officer, said that Supercop was right in what he does at the start - he is a traffic cop & saw a driver breaking road traffic laws - dealing with these incidents is his job....
I guessed so.
Up there with Rangers signing a Catholic Gerard Kelly as the funniest ever Scotch and Wry sketches - bar none.
