- For our 2nd day in Japan, we hire a fairly standard car to go to the Initial D Cafe & Mount Akina (real name Mount Haruna).
The journey there was an experience itself as I have never driven in Japan before. Once we arrived at D'z Racing Cafe, we were took back by the amount of effort these guys have put into this business! I felt like I was in the anime!
After spending a good couple of hours at the cafe, I head up the famous Mount Akina to see for myself why this is the chosen path. It didn't disappoint as it was just like the anime and the scenery was breath taking! If only it wasn't snowing and I was in a faster car.

You should definitely go there and make sure you hire a car to drive up Mount Haruna (Akina).
if i would see one of those initial d cars...i would "kneel and bow" a sign of respect :)

I need to go to that cafe I freaked when I first saw the interior and I was already excited when I saw all the replica cars they had.
If you ever get the chance, please do go and visit them. They are friendly and make sure you hire a car to drive up Mount Akina 👍

I was in Akihabara. From far away I can hear eurobeat intensifying. An initial D AE86 was driving with loud eurobeat and open windows. And when I talk to Japanese...they say : why do you like Japan?
Production quality is top notch! Loving those RX7's. The next video looks like the Daikoku car park in Yokohama, can't wait!

What the hell dk's 350z is auto 😅
After the filming, I was a bit unsure myself so I had to watch the movie again and do a bit of research. Apparently there were 2 350z's used for nice shots and a host of other ones that were battered on set. The 2 'nice' ones were definitely manual whereas all the rest were a mixture. Hope that helps :)

Loving your Japan diary vids, I read about the musical roads a while ago, glad you found them. I would imagine they are better experienced personally as they never seem to come across that well on camera. Looking forward to see what else you have planned. Keep up the fine work.

When you were standing on the mountain in that area where all the races actually"start" in the anime, what was the exact location? Was it Mt. Haruna?
Hey MomoMochi, I am excited for you that you will be going as I would love to go again. Please let me know how it goes and if I missed anything.
It is indeed Mount Haruna and there are leaflets in the cafe itself that tells you about the locations used in the anime so be sure to pick one up and go for a drive. Just be careful if it's still snowing up there.
Its not the origional 350z, the main showcar which was used for the still shots is currently in Nottingham (uk) for sale. Think they are asking around 150k for it. The carbon work on it is very questionable (quality). Has a plaque on the console, nos cans on the back shelf and a full cage.
Do they salt grit their roads out there? I've heard they use a different system as their cars don't seem to suffer from rust as much as us in the UK. Where else are you planning to go after? Spoon? Mines? Nismo? Would be a dream holiday.
I was staying in Tokyo and never saw any snow/frost so the roads where not salted. But once I got to Mount Haruna where you saw lots of snow then yes, they do salt their roads but it's not like the UK's salt. It doesn't leave behind that horrible brown sludge.
I have a few places planned but I'm very limited on time so I can only really visit places near Tokyo. I visited Spoon already and it was awesome!
Is there some place you can but initial d merch like in the vid? That can be shipped to america

Lol, they did have tofu there once before but they don't get anyone going there to buy tofu. They expire fairly quickly too which isn't good. They have a good selection of merchandise though.
