That's a nice truck, Rick! Buying a new vehicle is so different here, and much better. We dropped into the Toyota dealer at Noon on a Saturday to have a look and by 5:30 that afternoon i was driving home a new SUV in Manila traffic. I asked the Service Writer yesterday what the door rate was for Service/Diagnostics , and he said about $15.00 per hour. Hello 1951! I'm a retired Diesel /Auto Tech...guess who isn't getting their hands dirty on this one...
Thanks for the info on NFCU. I'm a Filipino USN vet who hasn't really thought of retiring back home. But I'm beginning to change my mind. Thanks to you guys!

We finally arrived in the Philippines last week. Soon to start our house build in Eastern Samar. While in Manila, we picked up our reserved Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 in Meteor Gray. We paid 1.86 for it and drove her all the way to Tacloban. She is an awesome pickup in every way!!. Happy fellow New Gen Wildtrak owner!!
Thanks for that tip Rick, We were just there at Clark a month ago looking at our land. We are from Phoenix Arizona. I believe I have Navy Federal when I was stationed at Misawa but since closed that account. Nice to know I have that option if I ever need it. Thanks and enjoy your new truck!
Your welcome brother! Always glad to help where I can. Let's get together for a cup of coffee when you get back to the Clark area. Thanks for watching!
Very nice Rick! I had a similar experience when we arrived here last June. Went to the Ford dealer in Palawan and they had one vehicle available. Fortunately for us they had a black Ford Everest diesel biturbo 4×4 which is what we were looking for. First time buying a vehicle without even test driving. Definitely a very different experience than buying a vehicle in Texas. Enjoy!
That’s is GREAT Info as we’ve been renting “testing” various cars in Dumaguete for over a month now trying to decide what we like and what works best here, and This NFCU info is a game changer for sure as a member now for 35 years, But never knew this! Super glad it was helpful. If you are a pickup guy, you need to try out the Ranger. We are absolutely loving it and it's handling the rough roads out here in the province with ease. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!

My wife and I took delivery of our Luxe Yellow Wildtrak on the 28th from Ford Ilocos Norte and so far, we love it very much. But we did find out just how different it was to purchase a vehicle here. They didn't have any 4x4 biturbo in stock for us to test drive, so we had to drive a rear wheel drive single turbo sport model. I also declined to use their insurance, because it was P20,000 more than the other quotes I received and only covered Luzon. And had I known about Navy Federal issuing loans here, I may have gone that route instead of paying cash. Lucky for me, I transferred enough money when the peso was still over 58.
Nice move! Paying cash is the best way brother! Hard to compare a 2 wheel drive single turbo to a 4x4 bi turbo, but you are absolutely right, we are loving the truck. A little like driving a really rugged computer . Thanks for watching!
great choice man, you be always happy, myself im a Raptor guy in davao city, customized..happy with ford davao and driving anywhere, brand new is always best...
Rick, wish I had shared this with you before. We bought our Isuzu MUX back in 2019 from the Baguio dealer and we financed it through Navy Federal. USAA will also finance vehicles here, but they have to have a US VIN. The only models that meet that standard, to my knowledge are the Explorer and Expedition. I preface this with things could have changed since 2019.
I wouldn't be surprised if you were spot on Wes. This truck doesn't have a US VIN, but Navy Federal did not have an issue with it. I had to send them the VIN before they would fund the loan. Maybe USAA does things a little differently, not sure.
@@rickeybaker9066 Same experience we had, NFCU had no issue with the VIN and so that left them as the only real choice. As you know, gasoline is less fuel efficient and overall more expensive here. My diesel MUX gets 44 MPG on the expressway. Please let me know when you figure out your mileage on the new truck. When we start building our house, I am going to buy a new truck so I can be on site each day with the contractors.
@@weskerlin8566 Getting 36mpg out of the gate, both city and highway combined. I haven't taken just a tollway reading, but you have me motivated to do so. I'm expecting as she is broken in, that average should improve. Good move to be there each and everyday of your build!
@@rickbaker0217 I will be in Angeles for the VFW meeting on Wednesday. This is always a good excuse to stop at Didi's Pizza for tacos. Do you plan on being at the meeting? We should get together if you do plan on going.
Good day. I've bought two ford rangers second hand. I also looked into the brand new too. As for haggling a price Yes certain dealerships have a locked in price. But if you look around to a lot of the dealerships are priced differently so you often mention the other dealerships price and they will price match that dealership that's how you haggle with a dealership. It can save you anywhere from 100 to 150,000 pesos. Thought with my two trucks I managed to find two second-hand trucks with over 40 grand of accessories and body modifications, both have a 6-in lift very capable trucks and where I'm staying is near dagapan. I'm currently working in Australia but I've been looking at coming over in June. But hopefully next year will be staying for good over there
What I ran into Stuart, was that all the Ford Dealerships in this general area are owned by one group, the Laus Group, and they price all their vehicles, regardless of which one of their dealerships you buy from, the same. They kind of have the monopoly on it in Central Luzon I suppose. Sounds like you nailed a couple of sweet rides in the past. Hoping this one lasts us a long time. Thanks for watching!
Honestly Michael, I am not sure I ever spoke about it specifically, but the nitty gritty is they install a bi-chamber tank using Hollow Block with a concrete rendering. First chamber collects solids and liquids spill over to chamber two, that has a false bottom for seepage. First chamber would need to be cleaned out periodically depending on the size and number of people using it of course. All grey water just empties at exit points around the property. So only black water uses the septic. There are no field lines in the Philippines that I know of. Hope that helps brother!
Wow... congratulations... glad you could get reasonable financing for a big purchase over there... and thanks for the info about the credit union... makes me wonder about the wire transfer aspect and why we cannot simply transfer dollars like that over there instead of going thru places like Wise or Remitly and paying extra fees... thanks...
Thank you sir! I use XE Money Transfer for large transfers and Moneygram for smaller ones. Both have good rates. XE has great rates. Thanks as always for watching!
Navy fed is the go to I live in Korea on the economy and went to them For my SUV and they gave me cash I then took the cash converted it to win and purchased a nice suv so yes as a retired vet they are My go to overall!!!
Can I ask who you had as an alternate insurance provider ..as i would like to reduce my Wildraks insurance from Fords expensive option before I commit to buy..which btw..I've had on order for 5 months..you did well to get one quickly
Oh wow, 5 months is a great deal of patience brother. I had to go with a color that wasn't my first choice, but when they told me how long I would have to wait to get exactly what I wanted, I just didn't think our SUV could hold up to the roads we have to drive down on a daily basis. The insurance I have used the past two years for our SUV was Standard Insurance. I will revert back to them after the year is up, unless Ford wants to continue to match the rates.
Congratulations for the new truck and a Happy New Year to you and yours, Rick....You are living the 'American dream' I guess it is still possible, beause in teh USA it has become a nightmare for most :)

Living on the Philippines dream ehehehe….My husband and I are both military retiree .We bought a property in the Philippines, damn house is money-pet and living in the Philippines is money pet too
Thanks for both of y'alls service! The house was during the build, but it seems to be leveling off now. Living here has actually proven to be far more economical than back home. But no two peoples experiences are the same. Wish you both all the best!
congrads Rick with the new truck, as we are in process to purchase a lot on the border of tagaytay and alfondso and start building there we were also looking into a Ranger, the price the dealer display is that including taxes (for example i saw wildtrack for 1.88 milj Pesos is that including taxes?
Excellent question. VAT is included in Fords price. So the truck was 1,679,464 peso and the VAT was 201,535 pesos, total purchase price of 1,891,000 pesos There was also a 12k peso fee for LTO Registration and we had to purchase a year of Insurance for 35k. That's it.
Thanks for the information regarding navy federal credit union. I’ve had an account for a long period time and I’ve been living in the Philippines for seven years. I didn’t know that they financed over here. Can you tell me what interest rate you paid higher than the states?
Nice..love the truck..what'd ya end up paying for it there and did you get the 4x4 version of the Wiltrak?.. I'm interested in that same type for my Ranger..we'll be in the Cavite area but will be looking to live in the Clark area also..or in Valencia..near Duma. Thanks!.. I'm a retired USAF guy.. Dennis and Josie
Hey brother Dennis! I paid $34,000 and yes, it is a 4x4. Got shocked when I went back to Texas for a funeral, to find out that the Ranger sold in the US is $10,000 more for a XLT model that was just a 4x2. So, more truck for a lower price here. Not bad. Both areas you are looking at to live, you will be happy with.
@@rickbaker0217 exactly..I just looked at these same Rangers here in Kansas..they were $40k.. So I'm pretty excited to buy mine in the PI.. With 4x4.. Wildtrak version or the Raptor.. Thanks brother!! Love your house design setup! My Josie and I are looking to do the same..
Good content 👍👍congratulations 🎉 can you please content about medical needs if you are in the Philippines. What are your options? For annual check ups do you go back in US?
Congrats on the beautiful truck!!! I love to accessorize my rigs. If you’re the same, you have to take off a lot of the aftermarket stuff for its annual inspection 🙄 My multicab has fog lights I brought from the States that have to be taken off each year. I think my iPhone throws off more lumens than that multicab 😂
This one came pretty loaded and will take me months to learn all the bells and whistles. I am planning on getting an electric bed cover when they come out with it for the Next Gen Rangers. Hopefully they will let me keep it on when I go to the LTO 😵💫.
Just an update; you don't go to Teas dealerships and find 100 trucks any longer. Most would like to have 2 new trucks to sell and the markup is outrages. Nice truck.
You got me on that Paul. I have been in the PI for two years now and the last time I bought a truck at home was probably 7 year ago, but then, it was abundant!
We are loving it. I have never had a 10 speed before, but so far, so good. It does come with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. So, atleast some peace of mind for the next 5 years anyway.
I am curious do they still sell the raptures there? I am a Navy federal fan…..my best friend she is a manager here in Korea and Filipina…… will start my second build in CDO soon and will be buying this summer but will wait for the color we want…
Congratulations on the beautiful truck. Hey Rick no Raptor brother? Just kidding. LOL Excellent information on the NFCU! Now I need to reopen my account because I stayed with USAA. LOL Can’t have a tailgate party without a truck! LOL Only question….. Do they sell front/rear/side/cattle guards for the crazy drivers in the Phils?
Thanks brother! I'm not sure I could find parking at the market in a Raptor . You absolutely need a tailgate! This Ranger came with some kind of futuristic force field that activates when a scooter, tricycle or Jeepney get to close .
@@rickbaker0217 you do payment like here? Sorry to keep asking but we will be moving back in a year and trying to get all the information I can from a American their already. We moving back home to Negros Oriental
We didn't experience that opportunity with our Ford Clark. They were going to get paid whether we paid them with our cash or took out a loan with a bank. It made no difference to them. I know with some purchases in stores for appliances, etc. that is an option. Just didn't experience that with our truck.
Hey Gary. My understanding of Philippine branches of US banks is that they are not connected as you might imagine, to their US branches. They are literally treated as a separate bank. At least that is what my research showed years ago. I have also found that loans that originate here in the PI, have higher than I am willing to pay, interest rates. When it was shared with me that Navy Federal would loan on vehicles in other countries, I jumped on it.
OK... explain the 'insurance" with "us" thing.... how/where do you get auto insurance in the Philippines? It's not like they have State Farm, Allstate, AIG, etc... And, you are one lucky man! Your wife is a cutie! 🙂
Thanks brother, but are you really an "Angry man" . They do have insurance companies here, they just work very differently than they do in the states. We covered our Hyundai Santa Fe with a company called Standard Insurance. The Ford Ranger is covered through the Laus Auto Group Insurance Company. Insurance is a lot cheaper here, but the coverage is about half what it is in the US.
How much more to buy then in states' ,as I look at Rubicon jeep in phillipnes as was 120 thousand American dollars for same jeep I only paid 60 k for in usa
The exchange rate dropped in the last two weeks so we didn't do as good as I had hoped. We ended up paying $34k for the truck. But that was for a fully loaded 4x4 Ranger Wildtrac. Not sure what trucks are going for in the US now, been several years since I purchased one there.
Hi Good morning. Can you pls tell me what a cash price would be for a brand new Ford Ranger 2022-2023 with tinted windows with some extras. I have always liked the powerful look of the Ranger. I have been following your house build videos and i plan to sell my house in Scotland to buy a new build private pool villa/house like your build and with the same extras that you have added at extra costs to what the builders initially gave you. I am struggling to find any YT videos about pool house properties. I am not interested in renting for any lengthy period. Any useful tips would be greatly appreciated from this Scotsman. I am also trying to find out the foreign exchange rate is for say £1000 UK Pounds to PHP pls. ? Google search is saying £1000 is 67,300 php ???
Todays rate is about 67.4 pesos per pound, so yes, you are about there. Not bad! A lot Better than the USD right now. The Next Gen Ranger Wildtrak I just bought is pretty decked out on features and it cost me 1,881,000pesos. That includes the VAT tax. Small world, we just had lunch two days ago with a Scottish buddy of mine and his wife, who are in for two weeks visiting. I would be happy to help you anyway I can sir. Feel free to email me at principalbake@gmail.com if you like. Thanks for watching!
Hey John! It's a German brand I believe, Optik, or something like that. Has a ceramic coating and really makes a difference on the heat in the cab. Went with a visor tint on the front windshield. Medium tint on the drivers and passenger side tint and Dark on all three back windows.
Hey Danilo! Not sure what you mean by agent? Once I found the truck I wanted, I put 10,000 pesos down to hold it and took the spec sheet and contacted NFCU with the Vin and other needed info. I had approval almost immediately. They put the funds into my account and then wired them to Ford Clarks bank here in the Philippines. Picked up the truck three days later. Super easy process.
I believe you are correct. Went back to Texas a month ago and inventory was low. All the dealerships seemed to be ok though, with the exception of Toyota. They literally had 3 new cars on a lot built for 75 vehicles.
Hey Josh. We are both loving the new truck. Fuel mileage is awesome and I no longer stress about how the roads are affecting my suspension. The only issue I have with almost any new vehicle, is how they design them to basically drive themselves. I like to be in control of my vehicle and happen to think I am a better driver than a computer. This one does however, allow me to turn off all the driver assist settings!
Paul, Jenn likes to make you work for the answer . I actually wanted white. So much easier to keep clean. But the dealership only had one Wildtrak in stock, and that was black. I could have waited 3 or 4 months for a chance at a white Wildtrak, but our SUV's days were numbered due to the extremely crappy roads over here. We needed a truck and we needed it right then!
@@rickeybaker9066 Pickups in the Philippines currently do not attract the Philippines Gov. vehicle excise tax that is applied to sedans & SUV’s etc. However in August last year, the Gov announced that all new pickups will shortly also be liable for vehicle excise tax. The tax rate varies according to the list price of your vehicle - it’s 20% for new vehicles between P1 million to P4 million ! So you saved you ‘saved’ 20% on your pickup buying it now instead of later this year. Confirmed date of implementation of the pickup excise tax is yet to be announced.

I'm a Filipino. I remember when we bought our SUV in 2016. It took 1 month for us to get the color we wanted. Availability of the model and color is hard here. But it is what it is. 😅 Stay safe and God bless. 🤙❤️🇵🇭
Would have been fine with either, but the Toyotas here are built in Malaysia and just don't seem as solid as the Toyotas in the US. My impression of course.
Ah, well, I actually have a home in the Dominican Republic that is for sale. I was trying to say that when it does sell, I plan to pay off this truck loan. I just don't like paying interest .
Ironic, philippines is a poor country and yet they have to pay ungodly high interest rate. Poor will always be poor. Loan culture also in the Philippines is imbibed in our bones. We love loans.
Feel bad for this guy. Eventually, she will leave him. Just happened to a guy I know. Reaches a point where the age gap is just too much of a problem. God bless while things are working normally though.
Vehicle availability is really limited in the Philippines, we are a 3rd world country so our market is small that's why dealerships are careful to stock on vehicles. 😁
Totally understand. Does make it a bit limiting for someone that is in the market for a new vehicle though. From the looks of all the new vehicles on the Toll roads, business seems to be picking up! Thanks for watching!

Beautiful doesn’t describe the truck fittingly but boy oh boy is that a nice vehicle my friends 👍🏻💪🏻✌🏻🙏🏻❤️😊
Thanks Charles! It's nice sitting up a bit higher than the scooters 😂.
I was wondering if I can have my credit union finance out of country. I also bank with Navy Fed so thanks for the insight.
I am happy to report, YES!!!!
that's a nice truck!
Thanks Chris!

Rick did you by chance do a video on your septic system? How it was built, i'm seeing things are done different then in the USA
Awesome move and great strategy!
Thanks Jeff, appreciate you watching!
Wow... congratulations... glad you could get reasonable financing for a big purchase over there... and thanks for the info about the credit union... makes me wonder about the wire transfer aspect and why we cannot simply transfer dollars like that over there instead of going thru places like Wise or Remitly and paying extra fees... thanks...
Thank you sir! I use XE Money Transfer for large transfers and Moneygram for smaller ones. Both have good rates. XE has great rates. Thanks as always for watching!

Thanks for both of y'alls service! The house was during the build, but it seems to be leveling off now. Living here has actually proven to be far more economical than back home. But no two peoples experiences are the same. Wish you both all the best!
I wonder if Navy Fed will also offer the 1% discount rate for retirees, if you were E-7 and above. I was able to get it but still active duty

congrads Rick with the new truck, as we are in process to purchase a lot on the border of tagaytay and alfondso and start building there we were also looking into a Ranger, the price the dealer display is that including taxes (for example i saw wildtrack for 1.88 milj Pesos is that including taxes?
Excellent question. VAT is included in Fords price. So the truck was 1,679,464 peso and the VAT was 201,535 pesos, total purchase price of 1,891,000 pesos There was also a 12k peso fee for LTO Registration and we had to purchase a year of Insurance for 35k. That's it.

I'm curious, where does the door sticker say it was manufactured?
Thailand
Danny is right James, It is manufactured in Thailand.
Good deal, I hope it's built better than the made in Mexico Rangers here. Problems with the Chinese auto transmissions here in the USA.
I have been in the PI for two years now and the last time I bought a truck at home was probably 7 year ago, but then, it was abundant!
how was the new Ford Ranger Wildtrak? They said the issue about 10Speed Transmission is still there 😭
We are loving it.
Yes sir, they still sell the Ranger Raptor here. Best of luck to you on your new build in CDO! Thanks for watching!

When you buy with cash do you not get lower price ? /
We didn't experience that opportunity with our Ford Clark. They were going to get paid whether we paid them with our cash or took out a loan with a bank. It made no difference to them. I know with some purchases in stores for appliances, etc. that is an option. Just didn't experience that with our truck.
Hello Rick; if you have an account at an international bank like Citibank, is it easier to get financing?
Nice truck , But. You never said how much it cost there in the Philippines. How much
1,881,000 pesos. Tax included. About $34,000
Looks better than the american version for sure
I agree Danny!
That includes the VAT tax. what type of window tint you got on your wildtrak?
Hey John! It's a German brand I believe, Optik, or something like that. Has a ceramic coating and really makes a difference on the heat in the cab. Went with a visor tint on the front windshield. Medium tint on the drivers and passenger side tint and Dark on all three back windows.

Who is your agent? I have an NFCU account also, living in California now and considering buying the same truck. Please share the process on how to

Hi,
May I ask do you or your husband have any issues ( problem) with the new gen wildtrak?

Color Black....in the Philippines? Are you happy with you color decision?🥵
Well if you watched, you’ll know why we ended up with a black truck 😇
Paul, Jenn likes to make you work for the answer . I actually wanted white. So much easier to keep clean. But the dealership only had one Wildtrak in stock, and that was black. I could have waited 3 or 4 months for a chance at a white Wildtrak, but our SUV's days were numbered due to the extremely crappy roads over here. We needed a truck and we needed it right then!
