  • This video demonstrates one technique for tongue lifts, stretches post frenectomy. Due to rapid intraoral healing, the frenectomy sites is prone to reattachment. One goal post frenectomy is to try to keep the wound site open so that lingual mobility remains optimal. Rather than wanting the wound to healed 'closed', we are trying to have the area heal by secondary intention, meaning we want the wound to heal from the 'base' up as new tissue regenerates.
Many clinicians have their own approach to post frenectomy care and oral function support. This video simply demonstrates one version of a lift or stretch. Luna Lactation & Wellness always advises that anyone undergoing frenectomy receive personalized care. We working with infants post frenectomy it is vital that the baby receive compassionate, individualized care so support all aspects of assessment, treatment, and aftercare.
