John Taylor..Bass player....is one of the underrated ones in this era, this song, Rio and other songs are just bass lines that make you want to just get up and groove
The guitar player, Andy Taylor, is currently undergoing treatment for stage 4 prostate cancer. Very sad he couldn't attend their induction to the R&R Hall of Fame.
@@billw715 They were privildged to have such an advantage cause they were not' puppets' to some other' songwriting machine' and this way they had a freedom of creativity as well as a tight, solid musicianship.
@@alexioverdo5225 Duran Duran have received tons of respect towards the 2nd half of their career but in the early days, they were written off as good looking guys who can't play and for having more style than substance. However, as we all know, Duran Duran are great musicians who can play and write their own songs- great songs -and they have style, too - nothing wrong with that- to go along with their amazing and sustained career after 40 plus years.
This video was recorded in my hometown of Toronto 🇨🇦 Canada I was at this show. The band always has great energy at shows. But at this show Duran around 1984-85. They were at a all time high and people went crazy. But I. A good way. Great memories
Best Band Ever! They write everything, they play everything on point, especially John on the bass. They practiced in a garage all their lives and honed their sound! They experiment on each album. Fantastic!
The waterfall has always been my favorite part of the music video, the look on the faces of the people in the front row is priceless when they realize that they are actually going to get wet and that it's not just an illusion.
Yes love them since I was little back in the eighties now Duran Duran became my second biggest musical obsession only after Elvis 🥰 they are being inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
Have seen them live many times. They are an unbelievable powerful live act.All self taught musiciansand songwritters.Simon Le bon is an explosive live performer. He is the Mick Jagger of pop and still sounds very very good.Always impulsive and one of the best frontmen ever in the music scene. And not cheesy at all.A vivid charming lion on stage. He rocks!
Oh he IS cheesy but in a lovable way. I love when he does stuff like fluff up the words or fall over (which he does quite often) but he always does it with humour
@@mogznwaz i laughed my heart out when i read some guy's comment charachterizing him a 'smug bastard"! To me he is a privildged super confident leader and a great entertainer and lyricist.I am a fan.
I cannot put into words how good they were live in concert.1984 Jacksonville, FL with Men at Work as the warm up band. Our group of friends that went were the same ages as the band members then, so we were not the Crazy teen aged girls that were the majority of the fans there. It was like seeing the Beatles or something the way those girls were going absolutely insane. We enjoyed it immensely, both bands!
I remember this hitting No 1 in April 1984 - the song and video had so much energy and perfectly encapsulate just how MASSIVE they were. Terry Wogan used to joke that when they were on his show it was the only time he could hear fans screaming outside the studio ❤
Still making music and touring!! They released their 15th studio album last year, which is fantastic. And just completed a mini tour in the states a few weeks ago. Sold out multiple Arenas and a 3 day Sold Out weekend at The Hollywood Bowl ❤️❤️ if you get a chance go see them live, still put on a high energy great show!
Another Duran Duran song that I never could understand the lyrics. Another Duran Duran Song that thrills me to the core because it just sounds so good! Sometimes the sound of the lyrics are more important than the content.
I just saw then in September 9th at the Hollywood Bowl for the first time in my 51 years and they are still the best live. They are finally getting inducted in the RRHOF in November and it's about damn time!
hello 👋 ya need to watch Duran Duran planet earth and girls on film from there live DVD as the lights go down live it's on you tube awesome amazing brilliant fantastic you will enjoy these 2 live tracks non stop action totally awesome 👌👍 please watch many thx and enjoy
I was obsessed with Duran Duran between 1981 and 1986. This was number 1 in May 1984 and I loved it. Union of the snake is a great song to check out too.
I was a huge fan of Duran Duran when I was 17- 18 that's how long they have been going, still love the music today, 😁 takes me back ❤ to when I was young 🎹🎤🎸🎷
Well looks like ya liking Duran Duran wow wow wow wow they are awesome amazing live and true musicians over 40 years plus they were massive huge around planet earth 🌍🌎 and still today they av a massive Duran Duran base totally amazing awesome brilliant 👍👌 fantastic band still play and enjoy
You are keen Duran Duran fans and have reacted to many of their hits. Try this one - Girls on Film (Live from London) it has the best baseline and pumping rythym and you will love the teamwork on stage
I subscribed because of your Duran Duran content. So underrated, but so loyally loved by their fans. Your faces say what we feel every time we hear their songs 👏❤️👏❤️ Simon’s voice and lyrics (swoon). John and Andy’s bass and guitar…. Nick’s ethereal synths and Roger’s clean drums. This band is the complete package!
I remember this music video made the evening news for its use of computer animation when they showed that wave pouring out of the video screen onto the crowd. It was one of the very earliest uses of computer animation. No one had a clue at the time that it would lead to what we have today.
Great reaction! Please do more Duran Duran. Simon may have been the star, but I was totally in love with the drummer. Tied for my favorite group back in the 80's. Culture Club was my other favorite.
What I always found unique about Duran fans, most of us considered Andy Hamilton, sax player, along with BJ and Charmaine, backing vocals, to be part of the Duran package. Or maybe it was just my group of friends. But we were every bit a fan of theirs and would want an autograph given the opportunity. Is it’s just me? Are there others that felt this way?
I still get goosebumps from that bass..DANG...The 2 of you need to hear Powerstation-Some like it hot most definately.. Robert Palmer on vocals and musicians of Duran Duran ... that bassline John plays on that is fenominal❤
So Duran Duran had a song called The Reflex but did you know that there was an English band called The Reflex ? They had a one hit wonder called The Politics of Dancing . It's a favourite of mine from the 80's
They were pretty & talented! Great song & video!! Remember watching this on MTV after school. Omg- I feel old. 🤣 Matt, you been rocking out with the Wolf Hunterz!! Thank you!!
I love this song, Georgy Porgy, Rosanna, Africa, Notorious. You 2 would have loved the 1980s as teenagers. I was a few months shy of turning 17 when this song came out.
You guys should listen to Make me smile (Come up and see me). It is the B-side to The Reflex. It was originally done by Steve Harley and cockney rebel. The video is from a concert in 1982. I promise you will love this version.
You don’t hear many bar bands ever cover Duran Duran there’s a reason and it’s not because they were labeled underrated or pretty boys extremely difficult
hopefully it's obvious, but this is the album version synced up with live footage, as opposed to most of "when the lights..." that is live but remastered
Lovely review try ‘Rio’ or ‘Girls on Film’ by the Duranies. Remember this vid coming out, spent so much on video tidal wave only to throw a bucket of water over the audience 😂. My sister loved this lot, I was a Spandau Ballet boy myself ‘True’, ‘Gold’ and the wonderful ‘Thru the Baricades’ are ones to look out for from the Ballet.
Doubtful that you will watch the actual video Breath after breath not because it's Duran Duran but never heard of it minus save a prayer personally I think it's WOW and saying it not because of a fan but a musician
Seriously ? You've not heard this worldwide number one hit before?... what were you doing with your life???? the worst childhood ever?? if so, its kinda sad and I feel sorry for you..... look at me pretending to believe you hadnt heard this worldwide Number One before,.......😜
John Taylor..Bass player....is one of the underrated ones in this era, this song, Rio and other songs are just bass lines that make you want to just get up and groove
He was excellent (as was Andy) with ‘The Power Station’ too.
JT simply is one of the Best Bass players!
And Andy too...his guitar playing never gets the credit it deserves
Completely agree, bass on Rio is next level
He consistantly kills it.
The guitar player, Andy Taylor, is currently undergoing treatment for stage 4 prostate cancer. Very sad he couldn't attend their induction to the R&R Hall of Fame.
Band is so talented. They write the majority of music and lyrics too.
They don't write the majority of their music. They write all of their music.

They are incredible live. Intimate venue, huge stadium, they deliver.

Bass line in Rio by DD is epic, another great reaction 😊

With this song I discovered Duran Duran, I am a Durani since the 80´s. Regards from Mexico

Qué lindo qué no había celulares en esa época, la gente sólo disfruta el concierto!!!! 👏👏👏😍😘
Can you believe it - these guys are still going at it after 40 years. You can tell this was a '80s production... Check out those shoulder pads!!
And they still sound amazing to this day❤️
the 12 inch remix of this song is even wilder.
I was obsessed with Duran Duran between 1981 and 1986. This was number 1 in May 1984 and I loved it. Union of the snake is a great song to check out too.
Welcome to 80's music royalty - they were huge then and still are....says it all!
They’re in their sixties and still going strong.
I was a huge fan of Duran Duran when I was 17- 18 that's how long they have been going, still love the music today, 😁 takes me back ❤ to when I was young 🎹🎤🎸🎷
I was a huge Duran Duran fan in my teens. This was my favorite song and video.
I graduated high school in 84 and Duran Duran was huge then. 👍💯❤️
My fav!!! If you have heard part of that chorus before it was in the movie American Wedding when Stiffler dances in the club

I love your reactions to the music of the 80s, Duran Duran, Hard. ❤️❤️
My second favorite band ever. And my favorite song by them. All extraordinary. And Simon...ooh la LA!!
For a while they were unironically called the Fab Five. They were so big in the mid 80's
I still get goosebumps from that bass..DANG...The 2 of you need to hear Powerstation-Some like it hot most definately.. Robert Palmer on vocals and musicians of Duran Duran ... that bassline John plays on that is fenominal❤
...and all the girls loved this band 💙💥💫 so glad this was my teen era 💖
This track was one of the longest number 1 hits ever (in the pop-charts) in my country the Netherlands.
i saw them live in june 2022 and nothing has changed? it was brilliant

John Taylor was and always has been a pretty boy. He is gorgeous but he is also in mine and many other fans minds the greatest bass player ever!!!
They were a huge deal In the early- mid 80s
You can find John Taylor online giving bass tutorials.
simon lebon and andy taylor.. nuff said
You must do the videos for Skin Trade and Serious. Please. 😀😀
Careless Memory, Planet Earth, Rio, New Moon in Monday. View to a Kill. My Own Way.
I bow at your feet, Matt! (lol) Hope you're going full Wild Boys! Me... I may have overdone the whole Transvision Vamp thing... (to come)
Great reaction could you react to billy idol cage or running from the ghost
Just don’t ask what the songs about.😊
1983, guys
The album was 83, but I'm pretty sure the song hit as a single in 84.

Ummm. It's a music video. 10 executives demanded they were entertaining and energetic!
Actually, Nick is the bass player. John is the guitarist. He went on to do the band power station with Robert Palmer
John plays bass. Nick plays keyboard. Always has been this way.
