The Rammstein of pop performers. They understand presentation. As a hard rock fan, I give my props to Duran Duran. Rock solid and still sounding incredible in live performances to this day.
They filmed the video in Sri Lanka. Hungry like the wolf was part of a set of videos that were shooted between Sri Lanka and Antigua (Rio, Save a prayer, Lonely in your nightmare and hungry like the wolf of course)
It is amazing to watch those who were not alive and no pre-conceived thoughts about a classic band. Duran Duran was and still is full of fun and good music. Finally they are rightfully getting recognition in the R&R HOF.
John Taylor was an art student in England when he founded the band. He played guitar first but eventually found he loved the rhythm of playing bass so he changed when Andy Taylor the guitarist joined the band. He sometimes nowadays has had his artwork featured in various art galleries. He is an all-around artist. His basslines have become synonymous with Duran Duran's sound! You all should find a live version of this song. It's amazing live. The whole band was/is great.
You are just seeing 80s Duran Duran. They have gone through so many styles of music but always sounding like them. Talking about vampires "Out of my Mind" is a great song by them with a dark gothic vibe.
“Do werewolves eat people?” Never seen An American werewolf in London?? 🤣 Hungry Like the Wolf was also the first music video ever shot on 18mm film. It still stands out as a beautiful piece of art today, and yes, the scenery doesn’t hurt. This is one of three videos filmed in Sri Lanka. The other two are Save a Prayer and Lonely in Your Nightmare. Both are great songs off of the classic album Rio and have beautiful videos worth watching. I am however, still keeping my fingers crossed for Night Boat for spooky season!!
oh my God, when this hit MTV they were Gods. This must have been on MTV 20 times a day. They are also very good musicians, John Taylor the bass player is very underrated.
I don't know if he is underrated. I had a bass book from 1988 which listed him as one of the best bass players of all time, up there with Jaco Pastorius. And I have heard him mentioned over and over as one of the best players ever since. Dude is a bass god.
I believe that video was shot in Sri Lanka, they also shot video's in Antigua. This is taking me way back to my 16 year old "Duranie" days . I loved the keyboard player, Nick Rhodes and used to copy his makeup and hair colours lol 😁❤️
Duran Duran .. one of my favorite bands . They have two videos too spicy for tv . One is the adult version of girls on film and the other is the chauffeur . . Love your channel guys
At the time, Duran Duran was the biggest band in the world. So Michael as usual liked to do collabs with any big singer or band. But the band refused because they wanted to keep their sound and identity. Also they knew that MJ bought the entire label of The Beatles. So they didnt want to end up losing all their music to him, like The Beatles did.
Cap. How does doing a collab then give you the money & ability to buy an entire music library(not label, a label would be Sony or BMG)? The 2 are not related. Anyone can buy a music library when it goes up for sale, you just have to have enough money & desire. Paul could not get enough funds to bid on his bands library. There was also Elvis and other artists in that catalog I believe, not just the Beatles. Plus MJ bought the Beatles Catalog in late 80's so when was this collab time frame? This Duran video was '82 long before that purchase so nothing is lining up.
So back in the 80s, when music videos really came to be a thing, a lot of groups just threw something together so they could get on a music channel on TV. Duran Duran was among the artists who put thought into their videos, understanding the medium and what could be done with it. Great music, interesting videos, makes for a good time.
Now go way back in time and watch the video for "Night Boat" for spooky zombies 80"s style. Oh, and follow that with "The Flame" from Arcadia - Duran Duran with a twist. LOL
they filmed it in Sri Lanka along with save a prayer and rio. Funny aside from this video is the hat Simon's wearing in a bunvh of scenes - after he thought he was done filming he bleached his hair - Russell, the director, was pissed because they needed some reshoots and filler shots. So when Simon was about to go on Russel snatfched his own hat off his head and plopped it onto Simon, Once you know it's hard to unsee the two differing hair colours , It is so much fun to pointo out. Glad you're enjoying the boys. 40 years a fan and still super excited for everything they do.
Just found your channel, Love that your embracing one of the biggest band of the 80's. This video along with "Save A Prayer"and "Lonely in Your Nightmare" were all filmed in Sri Lanka. They also Filmed "Night Boat" and "Rio" in Antigua. I am in my 50's and Have Been a "Durannie" since I was 13, This band was so far ahead of their time when It came to the concept of Music Videos. They Made MTV what It became.
They just finished recording their Rio album and were on their way to Australia (to begin their tour) and stopped in Sri Lanka and filmed 3 videos there.
Hello again!!!! Yes it true Michael Jackson did get in touch with nick Rhodes mastermind behind Duran Duran the syth and keyboard player he phoned him when Duran Duran was conquering America at 1983-84:they fought about it and decided to say no I saw this interview last year on you tube with nick Rhodes explaining very interesting video to watch so yes it's true
I love your reactions so I have subscribed!! The majority of their songs, esp their earlier years, were "spicy" 😂 I hope you take a bit of this song & use for The Wolf Hunterz theme 😂❤️❤️
Always, always props to Duran Duran. You should totally listen to Rio, too - you'll also know their song, 'View to a Kill', from the Roger Moore James Bond flick of the same name. :> Duran Duran made masterpieces out of simplicity. Since we're on the subject of 80s Synth, you should also check out The Moody Blues, 'The Other Side of Life' and 'In Your Wildest Dreams'.
I would call the radio station and ask them to play "The Hungry Wolf" by X instead of this. Might have gotten played once, after midnight. My favorite song by my favorite punk band. Thanks for bringing back that memory.
To bad you can not watch Girls on Film night version. Or My Chauffeur. I remember my mom renting their video(VHF) for me when I was 12 years old. She didn’t get mad, but she told the store about the video and it ended up in the adult section.
On a random note, since I know you've done Muse reactions. Have a listen to Muse's cover of this, which was done live on a French program called Taranta in 2018.
The lyrical theme was inspired Little Red Riding Hood. The song was also inspired by Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind," which also inspired "Save A Prayer."
Similar to Tears for Fears, whatever Duran put out was a fire hit. Few bands have that kind of ability. Out of the countless thousands of bands there are probably 25-50 pop/soft rock bands that were hit machines. If you include ALL genres 50-100 maybe slightly more. Beatles Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd The Who Iron Maiden To name a few.
People seem to forget that Duran Duran was an actual Rock band just with a New wave sound. Listen to their Songs before they got really POP sounding with RIO.
The Rammstein of pop performers. They understand presentation. As a hard rock fan, I give my props to Duran Duran. Rock solid and still sounding incredible in live performances to this day.
My husband is a rock drummer and he agrees with you! 👍😎
They filmed the video in Sri Lanka. Hungry like the wolf was part of a set of videos that were shooted between Sri Lanka and Antigua (Rio, Save a prayer, Lonely in your nightmare and hungry like the wolf of course)

You want sick bass licks? Their song Rio is a masterpiece
Same with Notorious
Same with New Moon on Monday..
Same with Some Like It Hot - Power Station.
Unbelievable bass playing
John Taylor is a bass god!

It was Simon not John that was the art student
@@paulhoban238 John was indeed an art student. He pretty much dropped out as soon as Nick finished high school so they could focus on music.
@@paulhoban238Simon was a drama student, John studied art.
You are just seeing 80s Duran Duran. They have gone through so many styles of music but always sounding like them. Talking about vampires "Out of my Mind" is a great song by them with a dark gothic vibe.
Give their track 'Hold Back The Rain' a spin - especially the 12" extended version. I'm definitely not their target audience but it's a rocker.
One of my favorites of theirs.
You really should watch Girls on Film music video, uncensored version
The live version from As the Lights Go Down is sick as well!
I know
The Chaffeur
“Do werewolves eat people?” Never seen An American werewolf in London?? 🤣

I mean, Warren Zevon wrote a song called 'Werewolves of London'. ...and, 'Lawyers, Guns, and Money'.
They were and are the perfect 80s pop group!👍👍👍

EIGHTIES!!
All the videos for this album, except the Chauffeur & parts of Lonely In Your Nightmare, we're shot in Antigua & Sri Lanka.
While they were there(where ever it is)they also filmed the "Rio" video, also worth a watch!!!😁

Was a huge Duran Duran fan in my teens. Had all their albums.
They were traveling and did this video in Sri Lanka I believe . Also one of my favorite songs “save a prayer “ and “rio”
They just finished recording their Rio album and were on their way to Australia (to begin their tour) and stopped in Sri Lanka and filmed 3 videos there.
FYI...I believe this was filmed in Sri Lanka
Some of the videos for that album (Rio) were shot in Sri Lanka. Pity where this video was done is now under water.....
MTV made them edit the hell out of this video the interracial interaction they had edit, but DD released the unedited version for the clubs to show..
This film clip and that of Save a Prayer were filmed in Sri Lanka.
So Duran Duran did 3 videos on location in Sri Lanka while touring . This one hungry like a wolf, “save a prayer” and “rio”
Duran Duran filmed this video in Sri Lanka, along with a couple other videos. 👍😎
Starts at 5:15 :D
They were in Sri Lanka just like the video for Save A Prayer which you should see. It's even more brilliant!
I believe the video was shot in Sri Lanka. Duran Duran always has been one of favourites since 1983🤩😎!
Fun fact: the music video was actually filmed in Sri Lanka (not India)

According to my mom, my aunt had a HUGE crush on Simon Le Bon! 😀
Masterpiece ❤
Since Simon already had the lyrics, Nick started with the keyboard part and he said it was done in 30 minutes. They're In Sri Lanka.
That bass.
