    Love both of you guys! Drew is a little rough around the edges but really tries to be kind! lol Lily is inspiring and I have learned a lot from her! Drew has great insights as well. I am thankful for peace in my life and inspiration! I really do love both of you guys because I know you have experienced the same thing that I have!

    I just commented about hating “unnatural” exposures on another video of yours and this video now just makes a lot of sense 😂..
    I still tried the “worry script method” and it opened up a whole new thing for me.. I’m not going to continue with the worry script. 😂 But I’m definitely “exposing” myself atm .. for the first time yesterday I’ve accepted that I’m actually afraid of this specific disease that runs in my family and that is okay. I didn’t immediately try to make it go away by denying it. 😳 I’m proud but also scared now 😂😅.. but that’s fine. I think. 🙈

    The hardest part is grounding yourself when you have a set back. Also when you have panic attacks its super hard to calm down during and then the after math of panic attacks which are physical symptoms and the let down affect (feeling sad). What helps me alot is exposure face your fears your mind plays tricks on you and the more you resist the stronger that bad mental habit will remain.

      Take a look at the assumption that you have to actively ground or calm yourself. Sometimes that's a clue to resistance. We operate all the time - as Lily pointed out quite a few times in her approach - that panic and anxiety will decrease and your body will find its level again without trying to actively make that happen. Maybe this helps a little.

      @@TheAnxiousTruth to certain extent you have to ground yourself and tell yourself that youre okay and nothing is happening so your body can relax but it does go away quicker when you don't do anything and just let it just pass but it's easier said then done because common sense goes out the window when your in that state of mind and also the goal is not to stay stuck in that mindset and alot of people when they have that experience tend to make it into a bad habit

    The biggest takeaway for me here was “you don’t have to like it, but also don’t have to treat it as an emergency 🆘 “ I’d gotten used to it by now but was subconsciously still trying to fix it urgently when it arose. Thanks!

      You're very welcome. NOT fixing an undesirable state kinda goes against "common sense" so it can sometimes take a while to really embrace that and put it into practice.

    I wanted Lily’s approach to work for me. I joined her mentor program after hearing an earlier episode with drew. Her anxiety sounded so similar to mine (mainly health anxiety and a certain level of orthorexia) and I’m also a person who tends to be a type A in recovery as well, which isn’t working as I need to let go. But her approach based on the three principles unfortunately never clicked for me. I like Drew’s intellectual and logical approach however much I miss some comfort at times. It still clicks more for me as it doesn’t leave much room for conjecture and satisfies my analytical mind and need to understand anxiety and the physical and mental consequences (I guess it plays into a need for control too). But indeed there are more ways to Rome and we all need personalization. I love that both Lily and drew are really open towards whatever works. Thanks to both a lot!!

      I appreciate this comment! People like us spend lots of time trying to come up with new metaphors and analogies and finding a million different ways to say the same things because you never know what will ring a bell for any individual person. Thank you for sharing this experience from the "consumer" side of the equation. :-)

      Your experience has been like mine. My story sounds identical to Lily's which is what led me to having a one-on-one call with her. It was validating, but I was left unclear of how to get better.

    At this stage, after so many years of resisting and feeling as though there has been something wrong with me with so much misunderstanding from the medical community all these years and so much invalidation, I am feeling that I need to practice not scanning and listening to my body and mind with so much fear, but that what I’m feeling is it’s ok and to let myself feel these things. This is learned behaviour for over 40 years that I feel I need to unlearn and go gently on. Plus medication is there as well. So at this stage I’m hearing loudly what Lily is describing. Toward the end you Drew and Lily came together and it was resounding with me so much more . Enjoyed the video. Each day i feel I can say to myself that what I have been so scared of feeling I am now starting to allow myself to feel and it’s ok. Im getting comfortable feeling it’s ok to let those feelings be and my mind seems to find comfort in my own reassurance to go with it, if that makes sense.

    • @TheAnxiousTruth
      @TheAnxiousTruth  5 місяців тому +1

      That makes sense! When we take that "risk" and allow ourselves to feel the whole thing, if we can open to the possibility that we can handle that ... we do start to find a measure of competence and confidence in ourselves. Great comment. :-)

    Hey Drew, I am new to both your content as well as Lily's. I very much struggle daily with "air hunger" which causes a bunch of symptoms (dizziness, muscle tensions, DP/DR etc.) and I ultimately believe it's what has kept my anxiety "fuelled" for so long. I am confused as to whether I handle this by "doing" my way out of it such as breath work OR do I do nothing about it and just accept it?

    • @TheAnxiousTruth
      @TheAnxiousTruth  4 місяці тому +2

      In general (the UA-cam comments section cannot be personal therapeutic advice of course), trying to approach air hunger or breath centric anxiety with more breath centric work can be counterproductive. If you are otherwise healthy and struggle with FEELING like you can't breathe (which is not the same as not being able to breathe), trying special breathing techniques so you can feel like you're breathing OK can become a never ending hamster wheel. What happens if you let your body breathe whatever way it wants to while you do your best to do life with that air hunger feeling along for the ride? That's a good place to start - with that question.

    Haven't yet finished this video but I am really excited to see it and have the opportunity to see you two interact. I started watching Lily's videos, and listening to Drew's podcasts several months back. Have since read Drew's book, and became a member of Lily's online community.
    A while back I remember seeing a comment from Lily on one of Drew's Instagram videos and was so surprised. You two, to me, had what seemed to me to be very different approaches. I remember telling my husband how shocked I was that you two seemed to fans of each other's, as silly as that sounds. Prior to this I, at times, even felt a bit conflicted as far as who to "listen" to 😂 but felt some sort of "relief" at the notion that your approaches could be helpful to me in a both/and mindset versus an either/or.
    I appreciate the sentiment of this video and agree that at the core you both have similar methods even though each of you bring your messages in different ways, I have garnered pieces of wisdom from you both on my journey.
    You both have given me tremendous hope over the last several months and I look forward to learning more from each of you. ❤
