I think this will end up being some of the best footage of this historic tornado. Incredibly well-filmed given that it is at night. Well done!
Fr
Austin appreciate the kind words.
It's happening at night to. Might be a bit hard to see.
How do we know this is the one though?
@@dylanmangan9580 There was a distinct path caught on radar, by analyzing the path they should be able to determine if this is the one.
This is some of the best nighttime tornado footage I've ever seen.
But what were you thinking.
May be shooting on SONY A7S m2, m3 photo camera? Incredible low light sensitivity...but noisy
@@supervilla1n A7s 2 or 3 wouldn't be this noisy unless he is using a slow lens
@@supervilla1n it’s a secret.

That is some of the most terrifying tornado footage I’ve ever seen. Hoping everyone’s ok up there.
Yes, video is rendered even more potent by the absence of human sounds.
HUGE violent wedge! Tornadoes at night are no joke at all.
Who's laughing ?
@@MrMeadfoot No one.
I came here hoping for the “that’s what she said” cracks. To my dismay there are none.
Wow! Just wow. When the lightening pops and illuminates the wedge, it gives me chills.
Thank you for letting the tornado "speak" for itself -- no "mood enhancing music", no hysterical screaming, no "it's a tornado!" (yes, we can all see it's a tornado). You let the video speak for itself, and it was *extremely* effective.
It is one of the best night videos of a tornado that I have ever seen. What a huge monster! Beautiful and terrifying at the same time. I am sure it is a historical meteorological situation that will be studied even years after the incident. Even the media in Germany are reporting about the tornado outbreak! I send my prayers across the pond 🙏 🇩🇪 🇺🇸
I just saw you on national news dude, I gotta say ya got nad's bro, seriously!
- respect from Joplin
Longest tornado track in history, almost 300 miles. Reportedly winds were over 300mph at times, wedge well over a mile wide. Everywhere around us, town after town after town is destroyed. It was a bad night...
Is there any sources for this, I’ve been looking so hard for this info
@@josipher unfortunately youtube has a habit of deleting comments that have links in them.
Probably the longest but not the deadliest that record belongs to the 1925 Tri State Tornado.
If rated an EF5, it'll be the first one in eight years. That's crazy.
Lol you posted this 17 hrs ago. The storm hadnt even been rated yet nor measured. Nice false information
Since 2006, Caruthersville has had TWO giant tornadoes, this 60 mph forward speed one and the sloooow-moving Marmaduke/Caruthersville whirl that hit the latter town directly during an afternoon in March 2006. Agreed that this will be some of the best footage of last night's historic event. Tragically amazing.
Getting this close to a tornado that big/violent in the dark takes some seriously big balls
Pray for those in Pemiscot County. This was a massive deadly tornado.
I Science for those in Pemiscot County. Truly hope they are okay.
My heart hurts over this. I helped many of the Veterans that live in Pemiscot County.
Looks like he was so close in the beginning that his high beams were actually illuminating the funnel a bit
Amazing video capture of this frightening scene. I'm impressed with the detail - thank you for being brave and filming this.
Sadly this is only one of many that have already hit or are in the process of hitting populated areas causing catastrophic damage (according to The Weather Channel). One tornado (yes, one tornado) has been on the ground now for 160 miles, and over 2 hours. What's happening in the central part of the U.S. tonight is horrifying.
That tornado is this one here, and it was on the ground for over two hours after this video was taken,
That’s unimaginable! Wow! How does that even happen?! Be safe all!
@@austinmccoy9743 Unbelievable. It's incredibly sad. Could be well over 100 deaths from last night's storms. God bless them all.
@@wishfulthinking8699 some ridiculous atmospheric parameters, is about all I can say. I don't get it myself, but it happened.
@@sabishiihito consider weapons
I was up all night going back and forth to the bathroom because we had no basement. Stay safe y'all
I was in Iowa City, IA, when in was hit by a tornado in April, 2006. One thing that I remember vividly, and is seen here, is the constant lightning. Seems like there was a flash somewhere in the sky at any given moment. I hope there were no casualties from tonight's storms.
There were over 100 casualties sadly
It is caused by static electricity ⚡️ within the tornado 🌪!
My God! What breathtaking footage!
That's a monster! Praying for everyone in the path
I live in Miami Florida and I was getting weather alerts about this on my phone. Kept beeping telling me there's an insanely high tornado risk in Arkansas and Kentucky. I've been in a bunch of hurricanes in my life , a few 5's , mostly 3's or 4's, but I would never ever want to be in a tornado. That looks horrifying. Praying for you all.
I will take a hurricane over a tornado any day. At least with a hurricane there is plenty of warning.
It's funny that you got that because Iive in Kentucky and I got no alarm at all lmao
A tornado is a hurricane on land anyway.
The worst nightmare I ever seen, bad thing about it is that you can’t hardly see where it’s going especially at night. Be safe out there🙏🙏🙏
I've seen a lot of tornado footage during the years, but this is legit one the scariest ever. The dark outline lit up by lightning as the air is pulled toward it and the rumble in the background. Horror movie stuff.
I pulled over and watched this thing go over the interstate. Thank God for the weather bulletin.
Yikes!
Glad you’re ok.
That lightning at 2:03 really shows how intensely bit that thing is!
Insane footage of that insane storm! Thanks so much and stay safe!
Wow! Excellent photography!
absolutely terrifying!!! amazing job on documenting this, very valuable footage. Thank you.
Never ever do I want to be in a car at night during a tornado outbreak! This is terrifying.
@@julie4178 How about neither?
@@julie4178 No a house is better than a car, even small tornadoes are capable of picking them up and tossing them.
Best footage of this storm so far. I would feel its out of my place to say how a person is supposed to react while filming something like this. Because most of the other footage I’ve seen has a lot of screaming as one would expect. But the silence is way more terrifying . Just hearing the wrath of Mother Nature and not talking over her makes it surreal. It also shows great strength to mange your emotions and stay calm 🙏
Thank you for the kind words.
HOLY COW!!!
This thing was a monster! And it stayed down for so long!
the incessant lightning strikes look like they're there on purpose to let us catch brief terrifying glimpses of this behemoth. God bless the south and I hope they recover.
So far this is the best footage I've seen I have searched for hours watching them all
As someone who lives in caruthersville, we now have to face 5 to 7 days without electricity. It was heading towards my town but then turned and went over the Mississippi river into Tennessee. All I know right now is that it killed a little kid in a flipped over car. This is why I be scared of thunderstorms half of the time.
Did you live there in 2006 when you got a solid hit?
I imagine this is how it is deep inside Jupiter. Pitch black raging storms and cyclones
That is a very interesting thing to ponder!
The cost of a tornado bunker is well worth it.
Of all the "things" that might scare me in the dark, i dont even think about monsters anymore. My real nightmare is stepping outside, and seeing a brief flash of light that illuminates a huge monster tornado like that
This same tornado just destroyed a town called Mayfield not 10 minutes south where I live. The amount of lightning and flashes coming from the storm was INSANE. I couldn’t imagine the feeling of being in the path of it. Is it an EF-5?
I hope you stay safe! Once daylight hits we will know the rating of the storm
If that wasn't a high rate ef5 then I'd be very surprise that thing was a monster! Prays to all involved!
Preliminary survey says EF3+ though I won't be surprised if this monster is given an EF4 or EF5 ranking once damaged assessment is completed
It was two separate tornadoes both violent this one occluded over the Mississippi River then a second more violent one touched down
Just the fact you driven past the tornado it’s just so crazy how close these things can get
Very interesting, but I think the night tornadoes are somehow very deadly. Hearts go out for the lost and their families. Be comforted.
Incredible footage!
The image of the town lights illuminating the actual funnel is the most haunting shot Ive ever seen. Backlit is one thing, but 2:30 is pure terror
So much lightning, incredible.
Amazing footage, so sad before Christmas 🎄🙏🏻 Glad u were safe
I am very sorry for what happened to the people of Kentucky, Illinois, Arkansas and Tennessee among other towns, the world is praying for you. Greetings from Venezuela.
Right at 1:00 you can see a resemblance of the bears trap, incredible to see it even in the dark
What's the bears trap?
@@eatmyturdd6697 sup, it's typical the mix of rain and tornado in the system, where you can't specifically see the exact tornado and it's generally a blob. Kinda when the tornado is rain wrapped
@@garrenshot gotchaaaa.. thanks for the response.
Best footage I've seen yet. What an absolute beast that thing was.
This is probably the best footage so far
Amazing footage! Wow!
From Michigan, I lived there when a kid, Caruthersville was called Tornado Ally, never saw anything like this!!
Wowww you were brave last night!! That tornado was a monster and you got it recorded perfectly for history (cause that's what that thing will wind up being, no doubt: historic).
Amazing capture. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible footage. So violent and terrifying!!
Wow! That is an absolute beast! I'm up in St. Louis, and we were spared! Glad you are ok! Have they rated the size of that tornado?
I'm in Michigan weathering a windstorm from the northern edges of this storm system, but I cant imagine what they went thru 😣 prayers to everyone effected by this
This is the most raw and close up view of a Tornado...Fell the power!
Wow what a monster 🤭💯thanks so much. 🌬🌬Be safe 🌬🌬🌬
That is one menacing funnel. That cricket 🦗 was almost like a soundtrack beat for a while.
Holy smokes! That speed.!
Thoughts, prayers, and resources for anyone affected by this. 🙏
YESSSSSS!!!!
Amazing night footage, nice work.
That thing is massive. Wow.
Incredible footage, its beautiful, how far were u from the tornado?
This beast just barely missed me if it would have went north. Sending my regards to who were affected though truly a dark time
This is a fast moving tornado crazy
Holy christ, were you close! This video gave me anxiety, it was so raw! I can't believe this happened in December, it's just crazy.
I'm watching in the UK, and thank god we don't get those kinds of storm {yet}.
The Quad-State Monster of the Night.
Grate video thank you , please be safe
Phenomenal footage u did a fantastic job..
That’s some fantastic footage
Even without seeing the tornado, the rapid, spit-second flashes of intense lightning (especially at night) are a good sign that a substantial and extremely violent tornado is forming or is already on the ground in your vicinity
Wow!!! Incredible!!!
you people are amazing and courageous
Monster tornado. Nightmare scenario at night in December.
Your a brave soul! Wow! Scary but awesome footage!
This was extreamly close. You're a brave soul! wish it wasnt so pixelated though
This looks like a scene from a horror movie, I have no idea how horrifying it would have been to go through this. Praying for everyone in western Kentucky.
Very scary. All of the sudden the closet you are in Is way too big. You hear things crashing around you and at one point thought I wasn't going to make it. That was a long time ago; 1997. Don't ever want to go through that again. But going through Hurricane Harvey wasn't fun either.
Prayers to who Have been affected by these storms.
Awesome video that tornado was wicked
Thank you for risking your life for us for the video
Crazy how close you were to it at the beginning of the video!
Good Lord it's so spooky seeing that violent tornado backlit by lightning! What a terrible way to see one, esp at night!
This really is amazing footage with actual storm damage visible in the foreground! Terrifying stuff! Such important documentation of this storm!
nice that someone finally figured out how to shoot night time tornadoes
This will go down as the most powerful tornado EVER RECORDED !!
@@clutchthecinnamonsergal8493 Bridgecreek Ok, in 1999 was slightly stronger than the El Reno one. Gotta top 318 mph. to beat it.
The Henryville tornado in 2012 was pretty awful too
@@clutchthecinnamonsergal8493 the El Reno tornado was powerful & I visited this site & the Moore OK site but the destruction of being on ground for more then 200 miles & crushing an entire town puts this tornado in a class of its own, needless to say it’s mind boggling to see the nuclear bomb type of complete devastation
Not even close the tri state is still king
Scary but well done capturing this tornado! Nighttime is hard to get a good photo, let alone video, of a tornado.
Have hit TN, KY as well
Hey man,nice shot.👍
Wow, I haven't seen this footage until now. That's truly terrifying.
My, God, you were quite close to that absolute monster! Yours is the best footage I have seen of this beast so far. Excellent work!
Prayers for everyone involved.
I pray for everyone hit by this storm. I’m in upper Michigan dealing with snow but man I feel lucky compared to this 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The first one on this clip crossed right in front of him across the highway. Amazing pics.
Mad how powerful it was
Remarkable footage. Wow.
whew that's a big boy. no wonder it's a world record breaker. I'm surprised more didn't perish but very thankful they didn't. 💕💕
You nailed it
Just the sound and the darkness is SCARRRYYY!!! 😢
I feel for those hurt and lost their lives in this tornado 😔
So much lightning it looks daytime
What category is it? Looks awesome
Rest in peace for the people and animals who died in this tornado
