Ah, riiiiight... the final update. The final update for Terraria. The update specifically chosen to finalize Terraria. Terraria's final update. That final update?
10:25 To add a little perspective, ReLogic put out heaps of spoilers for 1.4.4 but all the way till the update came no one had a clue about shimmer, which quite possibly might be the biggest change in that update.
This has been especially huge for me, as it's kind of an unmarked accessibility tool. My disabilities makes switching from one task to another, like building to fighting, have a bit of a delay. So I never really got to see late game. Now I can actually stand a chance against Moonlord 😎👍

@casserina "also actually listen to their fanbase" and they're collaborating with a pro-AI asset stealing studio like come on Relogic that and the 70% cane sugar garbage you're promoting in the steam news section has completely killed any hype of this update for me
My big thing with bosses getting new music tracks is that now music packs can have more variation in what songs play during which boss since they aren't sharing as many music files.
Hope they add an achievement for giving the guide a material to tell you what to craft, I think it would help a lot of new players get started since a lot of the time they follow the achievements to learn how to play.
Love seeing a game that actually loves the people that play their game. Minecraft has fumbled every update. Terraria is constantly adding new things. Wish Minecraft would listen to the community!
this is insane, I have so much respect for red and the rest of the team, so much effort is being put into updates even after the "final update", you can tell how much they love this game
There's one thing that will single-handedly enrich Terraria's replay-ability and challenge factor, and that's extra customization options for world generation. I mean, if you ever wanted to start your journey in a pre-hardmode hallow, or turn all forests into deserts and find your wood underground, or traverse crazy hills and ravines with fall damage being your biggest enemy... Or world-specific mutators/modifiers that flip your fundamental knowledge of game upside down. Anything that will make your playthoughs unique and have you consider using items and blocks that you'd usually never touch. Yes there are probably mods and tools for such, but including it officially as a part of game would be absolutely the end-all be-all feature in my opinion. Plus, many Terratubers would provide us with new content around this, keeping that well moist.
@@DaxMarkoEven though it's not exactly the same as a full in depth seed editor, the secret selector/mixer is pretty much the closest thing we have to this I personally can't wait to play around with it
I remember the first time I played Terraria. It was on Xbox 360 before the update that introduced the Crimson. Looking back at how bare-bones it was back then and seeing how much content it has now (and how much it's going to get when 1.4.5 drops), it's really bittersweet. I'm glad to have seen the evolution of this game with everybody!
I have 1500+ hours in vanilla Terraria but have taken a 5 year break since 2020… so much has changed. I will definitely be doing another playthrough after this update.
Actually this is something I just learned extremely lately and I don't think much people know but you can throw a living wood wand in the shimmer and get a finch staff
I was originally gonna put a timestamp for every part they cooked on and I'm excited for but there's way too many things to highlight it's actually such a good update
I love the roaming critters thing a lot but I really, really want a way to let pets roam too. Like I feel kinda bad that I can only have one pet at a time and all the other ones just go in a box somewhere. I know they're wrapping up development so it's a bit late for new stuff, but I hope that this was something they considered.
I know this might not be fully related to the video but I hope someone gets this idea to red: I think a way of making mediumcore less frustating would be making it so when you die your tombstone saves the items you had in your inventory and when you break it they are returned to you. Kinda solves the "dropped item despawning when world is saved". Another one I had was an placeable item(or furniture if you will) that could be loaded with cannon balls(I had in mind that one thing that gives you bowling balls on bowling alleys but with cannon balls instead) that when placed near an cannon allows cannons to fire and deal damage when they are wired up to kinda make them more useful. I don't know how to get those ideas to them so anyone who does it has my thank you. On an unrelated note I think I will go back to playing summoner with this updade(or before it as I am doing), progression for them seems like it will go faster.

The thing about them leaving some surprises is so true when you consider that Shimmer was completely secret- and it turned out to be one of the most game changing additions in years. It was teased but we had absolutely no idea what was in store.
>turn *off* [...] respawn Okay, that's a new one. If you mean what I think, I can see what you mean; players being able to hop back into a fight when the boss would've otherwise despawned in singleplayer could be seen as a bit cheaty, but it still feels weird to hear because every time I play with my friends, we're always complaining about how long the timer is during boss fights and add a mod to change it ourselves.
There's a lot of stuff I don't remember seeing in any of the teasers or videos, like a bunch of those paintings or the unknown accessories. That said, the only thing I want now from 1.4.5 is a release. Not a release date, but for us to finally have it. I've been edging on a fresh non-modded run for so long. That, or a modding API that makes it significantly easier to get into modding, because good lord I am not smart enough to do it normally without excessive help.
If I remember correctly the new secret seed is going to be: By your powers combined I haven't even beat the GetFixedBoi seed so jumping into it as soon as 1.4.5 drops is going to be an interesting experience.
Happy to see Red took my lightsaber suggestion on the forums seriously. Aside from a slight sprite change, these things haven’t changed since their introduction.
I like when they make flaisl good because you used to just toss them out but now you swing them with extra damage making them more useful even against worm bosses
With the lightning strikes, I half expected they would make it so if you fight the mechanical bosses during a lightning storm and get struck by lightning it would super charge them into a secret phase that lasts the rest of the fight or maybe just powers up a single special attack each time it happens making them more difficult to fight. along with it adding achievements like defeating a Mech boss during a storm, or even fighting all three mech bosses during the storm at once
I could definitely see something big getting added in this update that we're not expecting. It seems like 1.4.4 had stuff like that, a lot of aspects involving shimmer were either only really hinted at, and a lot of the shimmer transmutations were not even revealed at all. (I could be wrong, but I don't think stuff like the Rod of Harmony was revealed at all, I remember being surprised at a lot of the cool stuff that was not even revealed in the update). Needless to say this update already looks like it is going to be incredible, and I am looking forward to seeing what else there will be to discover in it!
Automation has always been so cool to me, I remember that was one of the biggest draws to the Frackin' Universe mod pack for Starbound for me. I'm looking forward to seeing what people will do with the hoppers and vertical conveyors, I can already think of how it improves some of my past builds.
I love how much effort they put into small things like vanity stuff and blocks, it may look silly at first but it makes such a world of difference between every update, 1.3 seems so updsted compared to 1.4 and its all mostly because of small changes like that
I hope some of the "surprises" are more minions because as cool as doubling the whip ammount is, that won't change the fact that there's too few minions to go with them and every summoner run feels the same.
