About spitting, I completely agree with you. Yes, some people, (especially older, uneducated) have this bad habit, not much from young generation. In London, the cameras would make me feel safe. In China, not so much. If you use UA-cam in China, or Google, or pretty much any other website that you've actually heard of, you are ipso facto not a law-abiding citizen in China. This is not strictly enforced at all, but if you end up on the wrong government official's radar, it's enough to put you in jail, without trial, and keep you there indefinitely. And it's possible to end up on government radar in China through circumstances unrelated to your own behavior, e.g., by being from a particular country when some international politics happens. (Right now, it is particularly dangerous to be in China if you happen to be from Canada. Another time, it might be another country, depending on the politics of the moment.) You do NOT want to end up in legal trouble in China. Being innocent of any wrong doing is NOT a valid defense. Chinese jurisprudence is like a weird hybrid of Cardassia and Jackson's Whole. I've just been in China for the last few weeks and can completely relate to these! Another thing that surprised me is all the security, even in places like metro stations! Also how much desert there is (I'm travelling out west towards the Kazakh border) and China has such a huge variety of beautiful landscapes. I was also surprised at how huge and developed the train network is here (and by the whole Chinese train station experience!), and how good the high-speed trains are, even to the more rural/less developed regions. Something I really don't like though in China is the extortionate entrance fees for most of the tourist sights, especially compared to other Asian countries.
I suspect setting entrance fees high is to limit the number of visitors, ensuring better comfort for both local and foreign visitors who can pay the high fees. However I believe this will change within the next decade as China is developing her domestic tour industry, expanding existing tourist sites and creating many new ones.

Regarding the cameras. Imagine this scenario where you are traveling with kids and for whatever reason got lost. How are you going to find them? That’s when you will appreciate the cameras.

China is safe in some ways but unsafe in others. Violent crimes are extremely rare, walking around in obscure areas in the middle of the night is completely safe. On the other hand, the chance of being injured in traffic is extremely high, there is a lot of room for improvement in food safety and often a lack of proper quality control among consumer products can lead to disastrous consequences. On the whole, I love living here and would recommend to anyone to pay a visit.
In Sweden we have the same system. It's called Swish. All banks cooperate. Works great. Swish is a mobile application for money transfer, launched in December 2012 by Getswish AB. The application enables quick payments between private bank's bank accounts by filling in the recipient's mobile number instead of account numbers.

Just back from China and my biggest tip for anyone is be prepared for the toilets. They are pretty grim on the whole which is totally different from the streets which are very clean. Top tip is to carry your own toilet paper as there is no toilet paper in toilets. Also people smoke a lot in the toilets so they can be quite smoky. In addition folk have no qualms about spitting or snorting into the sinks which can be a bit off putting coming from the West.
The cameras secure you to walk in the mid-night safely even you're a single girl,go out to eat some food or go to a party with your friends. In big cities, walk alone 2 or 3 am is safe too.Image that in western contries~~~~~~
well, people do talk about policis. in one of my wechat circles, a guy from my middle school years is known for anti- ... everything chinese government done. he would complain everything. he would repost every article claims the west is better than that of china, false or not. most of us just ignore him....
yeah some of them obvious don't work. i went back china last year. one camera hanging next to a traffic light was visibly broken. for the two weeks i waked by (everyday), the status stayed the same. i think those cameras in big cities are more properly maintained.
Honestly, my favourite part of China is the cameras on the street! Who will stare at you all day? The most important role of these cameras is to quickly gather evidence and lock up suspects when something happens. I lived in Australia and was stolen twice. There is no use to report to the police because there is no witness, no camera, and no police are willing to care about you. But in China, if someone steals your belongings or enters your house, the police can immediately lock the suspect. Your lost property is very likely to be found. I really love these cameras very much, and it is very necessary to manage a city with a dense population!
The camera is everywhere indeed. However, some of them is not as some people said "being watch by the government" For over half of the cameras in the stores, shops, restaurants, ect. are installed willingly by the shopkeepers, because Chinese people are very concerned about there private properties, sometimes even much more than the privacy. This is a tradition, it's not easy for people to change their opinions of value, so do in Roma as Rome does. By the way, those cameras which controlled by Chinese government are build up a system that is actually call "天网"(which directly mean 'skynet') It has become a memo in china when people mention the camera, others warn you that a terminator is coming.
well not sure about the other western cities (or maybe villages) but there are a lot of cameras here in Vancouver. Sky train stations, buses, universities, malls, pretty much anywhere you go. Just name it.
Westerns feel offended by the camera but to be honest I feel not safe without cameras in the UK, I saw a really crime case by my own eyes in a public park in London( west London not rough area at all) a 15 years old boy got robbed and beaten by a group of gangster ( he didn’t know them) they took his phone and forced him took his socks and trainers off, left him after beat him, his eyes were bruise, we helped him called his mum and police, police who were on duty from 14:00 till 18:00 came in 15 mins, said it was third case happened during their duty time,I was shocked and worried my own kids’ safety and if there are some cameras the bad guys should be caught easily but sadly not practical in the west world and even the bad guys were caught the laws are too soft the punishments are nothing towards the so called not serious cases!
Can you please talk about public toilets in China? I haven't been there but I am worry about this n I heard they're very dirty n even opened toilets? Thanks for your help. You're doing great honest everyday things happening in China. Keeps up!
I used to live in Netherlands. People smoke not cigarette but weeds everywhere...... and many German&Belgians travelled to Netherlands in the weekend just to smoke weeds....
thanks for Being open minded. You even tried to look at both the positive and negative sides of our cultural differences. Whenever other people make videos on china they always focus on the negative and not enough about our bomb ass food 😂
Mugging and pocket picking was still very common in China 10 years ago. You notice people still put their backpack in the front. I hope the new surveillance system would solve that. PS. Stay in Tier 1 cities if you don't speak Chinese. It's literally New York vs Detroit.
I have read 1984 when I was in the high school of Canada, def not as exaggerated as that. I honestly appreciate our government doing such a great job on public security, at least being watched by camera is better than being robbed on the street or being annoyed by those who went high by drug.
Welcome to china and get along with my people, we are friendly. Some people are not in good manner at public cause education level is various from people come from all over the big country. They still need time to learn and change.

Regarding the cameras. Imagine this scenario where you are traveling with kids and for whatever reason got lost. How are you going to find them? That’s when you will appreciate the cameras.
Or government can keep track of you for whatever reasons, like your blood types or organ is almost match to some officials who need emergency transplant right away.
You never know, with government CONTROL and CENSOR everything. China is what US's politicians Wet Dream come true.
I love how Chinese often mention US's politicians are corrupted, but then China's officials are not corrupted? Despite wielding power several times more than any officials in any countries in the world.
@@CuongNguyen-le5ic You think that Chinese officials force people to sell their organs and blood, and then I know it is a waste of time to debate with you guys.
@@不好意思我真的不会取 lol, that guy really makes me laugh by saying that bs comment😂😂😂
@@CuongNguyen-le5ic You being so brainwashed is making American politicians' wet dreams come true, anyone who's been to China will just laugh at your stupidity+ignorance. Corruption is illegal in China and LEGAL in the US.
i am chinese, the spitting sound really annoys me all the time.
Kevin meng wow. So true 🤣
That depends. In Fujian, I've never seem it before.
I visit Mainland China sometimes, and didn’t realise that it is getting much cleaner gradually until you point it out . Good spot
The application enables quick payments between private bank's bank accounts by filling in the recipient's mobile number instead of account numbers.
can u also scan the Qrcode to pay stuff there?
go to india, what images u expect about china will come true there.
Xi Jinping hahhhhaha
India is a fucking shit country,dirty, ugly,shit.
hanchun su im a Chinese. And i need to say that the shit is u, but not India. Let the government do their business, our normal people should calm down and be friendly to each other.
China first impression
At the title, I can't resist watching
I love the scene of so many kids playing kites in the park. It is spectacular!
Is true what you said. I am a Malaysian traveling to China twice or more a year for business trip and going around china without alipay n wechatpay is incovenient. Hence opening a bank account is a must.
Welcome to China, and wish you a happy time in China.
I am from Singapore. And I have been to Qingdao a few times. Qingdao is a great coastal city, and I don't remember seeing people spitting publicly over there. Have u been to Qingdao?
Patmax, I agree with your saying in this video. I think I understand what you feel because I'm a Hongkonger.
Oh nice, I'm a Shanghainese
You made a serious mistake by equating CCTV with public order Even without cctv, China is still safe. CCTV makes public order better. You don't understand the root cause of good public order in China.
You are right. This is my motherland China. And she will be better and better.Welcome to China, thanx for your objective and kind.
I love your tech report. So glad to know you are at China now, have a good trip!
Thanks for your vedios which help more people know about China, and I have to say that your vedios are good materials for me to train my English listening.
Is china is best country to travel in Asia? I've heard Malaysia, Singapore, Phillipines, India also getting better for travelling. What's your opinion!?
Peterthespidey 🤣🤣🤣you should do it by yourself....welcome come to China
I have heard Britain and France are the number one in terms of surveillance cameras but people just don’t talk about them being 1984🤷🏻♀️
They do actually.
That reminds me of the British TV drama Yes!Prime Minister
London is the most watched city as of a few years ago but China has quickly over taken that.
In addition folk have no qualms about spitting or snorting into the sinks which can be a bit off putting coming from the West.
yes. we need to improve manners. some old people are hard to change. sorry
Actually there are more cameras per km^2 in the UK rather than China
Not true, i've been to uk
@@夏天润 London is the most surveilled city in the world.
but nobody bitch about it because democracy must be for good.
Lol no
The cameras secure you to walk in the mid-night safely even you're a single girl,go out to eat some food or go to a party with your friends. In big cities, walk alone 2 or 3 am is safe too.Image that in western contries~~~~~~
Love this guy, simple yet in the very cute way.
Looks so clean everywhere.
Love China from Canada
Compare china subway to NYC subway please, then you will see how clean china is,thank you
Thx for making this video.
You're welcome.
Great Video 👍🏿 What makes you travel?
China is the safest and most free speech country in the world,You can talk about anything you want except politics
well, people do talk about policis. in one of my wechat circles, a guy from my middle school years is known for anti- ... everything chinese government done. he would complain everything. he would repost every article claims the west is better than that of china, false or not. most of us just ignore him....
ip desperado those are “special” people If you know what I mean. There’s some of them in every country.
Few year ago, when I go Shanghai actually that people are not spliting, and looks more civilize. But it's still happen for those smaller city in china
Nice job! Keep up your good work to make ppl understand China better!
I have never been there but it looks beautiful
THANK YOU,朋友
as a person from the uk we have the most cctv in the world so this isnt a china problem
The UK is also not a communist country. There’s a BIG difference. That’s why it makes me feel different compared to an open and free western society
@@PatMaxAdventures i see no difference but ok
first time in 2007, also surprised by how clean it was and be how happy all the people were, also by their sense of humour
cameras are everywhere but i always feel as if some of them don’t work? also if you aren’t doing bad stuff then its fine
yeah some of them obvious don't work. i went back china last year. one camera hanging next to a traffic light was visibly broken. for the two weeks i waked by (everyday), the status stayed the same. i think those cameras in big cities are more properly maintained.
What kinda privacy do you need on the street?
Next time, would you like to visit a smaller city?
The NSA is surveiling you but you feel very comfortable
It’s true Spitting is quite common in China but most are senior and middle aged. Young generation they don’t spit as their parents.
You don't have to be scared of the cameras and face recognition if you are following the rules.
I'm a simple man, everytime I see my hometown I like. Wish you have a wonderful trip in Shenzhen
Thank you!
Thank you gus 😘
I love watching your videos about China.Welcome back dude. And sorry for some of the impolite behaviors in public.
Thank you so much! I have a lot planned for the next three months in China ^^
tell us how clean is new york?
The country has a number of camer around with very commercial vibe.
Intriguing
well not sure about the other western cities (or maybe villages) but there are a lot of cameras here in Vancouver. Sky train stations, buses, universities, malls, pretty much anywhere you go. Just name it.
welcome to China❤️
China is on another level ..!!
thax for your honest
A friendly reminder that the Discover card would be very useful in China and could be linked to WeChat pay :)
Can you please talk about public toilets in China? I haven't been there but I am worry about this n I heard they're very dirty n even opened toilets? Thanks for your help. You're doing great honest everyday things happening in China. Keeps up!
love you . welcome to China
Install camera in the dark and quiet places is really make people feel safer when you walk into these areas.
I live in Cologne Germany. People here smoke everywhere in the street, cigarette buds everywhere on the floor, disgusting.
I used to live in Netherlands. People smoke not cigarette but weeds everywhere...... and many German&Belgians travelled to Netherlands in the weekend just to smoke weeds....
Yeah, big brother is watching you~
thanks for Being open minded. You even tried to look at both the positive and negative sides of our cultural differences. Whenever other people make videos on china they always focus on the negative and not enough about our bomb ass food 😂
💯
Mugging and pocket picking was still very common in China 10 years ago.
You notice people still put their backpack in the front.
I hope the new surveillance system would solve that.
PS. Stay in Tier 1 cities if you don't speak Chinese. It's literally New York vs Detroit.
Older generations and people who have migrated from rural parts spit a lot.. younger people won’t do that because they understand
You actually don't need a bank account to use Wechat pay or Alipay. You just need a verified WeChat/Alipay account.
Welcome to China again.
Thank you!
Foreigners can now use Alipay and Wechat pay.
The biggest city in terms of land size should be Chongqing, have you been there?
Yes, I will be going there.
China is getting better every day
i dont mind the cameras, because first of all the cameras are only in public places, it's public, so privacy? Second, it doesnt have influence for us normal people but the bad guys.
