1. thank you for making this publicly available for free and with no ads. everyone on youtube monetizes everything. so thank you for standing out. 2. incredible performance. life long bach lover and obviously have a catalogue of most of his compositions. i grew up in vienna and my father was a musician in a major viennese orchestra. i am not sure i have experienced a more finely tuned, elegant and authentic performance of this piece than this version. just such depth of of feeling. and 3. indeed, what a breathtaking composition. how can someone have come up with music like this? otherworldly. again, thank you!
I listened and enjoyed many versions of this movement of Bach, but never one with as many nuances, as delicacy, quality and beauty as of these performers!
This performance is out of this world. Rachel and Elisabeth.... your sound is out of this world. The entire ensemble is like carved from one piece. Thank you.
Rachel Podger and Elizabeth Blumenstock are well-matched here. Both superlative Baroque violinists. Lots of nuance and sensitivity here. Excellent performance.
Quelle émerveillement ! Quelle interprétation! Quel talent! Bravissimo Mesdames! What a wonder! What an interpretation! What a talent! Bravissimo Ladies!
OMG this was the best ever! I usually like to bypass this movement because it is generally played soooo slowly and drudgingly! This performance was light and lilting. Loved it.
So eine schöne Musik, die einem das Gefühl verleiht herzlich umarmt zu werden. Ich liebe dieses Zwiegespräch der beiden Geigen. Danke, lieber Johann Sebastian. Es bleibt nur zu sagen: SDG!!!!
here are two sets of prodigy here, the musicians about which there seems to be no parallel, and the audio and video which seems to go beyond well done to "magnificent:" Many thanks to that make this Voices of Music so wonderful!!!!!
My favourite Bach piece ! Thank you for bringing Baroque music to the masses ! If you ever tour Canada I hope I can see one of your performances. Until then, I always have your videos on UA-cam.
Sorry for my inadequate English. All those wonderful ornaments we don't find in the score, 1:07-08 and 5:25, top class! Ornaments as a musical expression are more important then ever before because in our days we have access to the music all day long. Therefore it is important to give the listeners different performances. H.I.P H.I.P. H.I .P. Hurrah!
quelle humilité j'ai, pour cette femme claveciniste qui posément, vue de son joli dos fleuri, consomme toute la générosité de JS', passant par le violon
This such a fine performance. I noticed that Rachel did not copy Elizabeth’s phrasing when she plays the imitative solo lines. So unusual or am I only now really listening. Beautiful!
Great performance. I hope that the 1st violin could have sounded a bit louder. Other than that, this rendition is superb, and the 4K video is impressive.
and... where's the rest of the concerto? :( I love this concerto (so much that I *had to* find the rest right away). please, please, please, post the rest!
Great music. Great performers. Its interesting in that they play very differently (ornamentation by Podger, hardly any by Blumenstock) but this does not affect the way they allow their musical lines to flow between one another.
Does anybody know if Bach ever used this as an aria, with an alto or countertenor taking the lead violin part? I’ve listened to the entirety of the sacred cantatas, but not all the secular ones. If he didn’t, he should’ve.
The variability of the range would make it almost impossible; and both violins take turns with the long notes and the faster ones, so it would be quite a feat to sing. I can't deny it would be just as gorgeous in voices though!
If I may: the giant pole in the middle breaks the setting, somewhat like having a finger next to your eye while you talk. Also one musician with her back to the audience? (I'll get my coat.)
The position of the musicians is the way music was performed in the 18th century. So, this recreates the original performance. The position of the keyboard player and the soloists allows all the musicians to play together without a conductor. At a music festival, there are often several concerts in a row. There was only 30 minutes to run in, place the mics and cameras. There was no time to, for example, hang the mics from the ceiling. The position of the mics does, however, give a very good sound. So, good sound, historical performance. That's what we do.
Always nice to come back to this one.
true that 👍

El amigo Bach. La perfección. Saludos
I listened and enjoyed many versions of this movement of Bach, but never one with as many nuances, as delicacy, quality and beauty as of these performers!
Thank you, Eduardo.
Very nice ornamentation by Rachel Podger.
Bach wasn't from this world!!!
God Bless Bach
Rachel Podger's movements are as graceful as her playing. Fabulous performance by everybody.
Thanks, John!

What about the wonderful Blumenstock!!!?????
@@Mabusesato Yes, she reveals the phrases like bright silks floating on a gentle breeze.

@@VoicesofMusic Sorry... Still can not get over this coherence. And it still is a dance. And it's pure beauty...

VoM's performances are masterly. Transparent, nuanced, every note and phrase playing its part, and a beautiful ensemble sound. Superb.
Absolutely stunning performance! So well balanced, sounds like one instrument. Bravo, you guys are really world class!
I was here for this one! What a treat to see our favorite local violinist with the brilliant and charming Ms. Podger!
Such a privilege to be alive and listen to this!

Wonderful! So well played!🤗👍💖💖👏👏👏
Many thanks!
as nearly perfect a performance as one can imagine
You Rock, Blumenstock! (In the most agreeable way)
Nice job
This such a fine performance. I noticed that Rachel did not copy Elizabeth’s phrasing when she plays the imitative solo lines. So unusual or am I only now really listening. Beautiful!
They are playing off lines, taking the end of a phrase and then transforming it.
Great performance. I hope that the 1st violin could have sounded a bit louder. Other than that, this rendition is superb, and the 4K video is impressive.

It's on our list!
Can't wait!! :)
Great music. Great performers. Its interesting in that they play very differently (ornamentation by Podger, hardly any by Blumenstock) but this does not affect the way they allow their musical lines to flow between one another.
Most satisfying! What's the tuning of the violone?
Is it tuned to 415? sounds a bit low and pleasant

Could someone tell me what the Guitar/Lute looking instrument is?
An archlute or small theorbo.
Can Hanneke still move?
Well, after the Festival we were all moving very slowly.
Tako topla i bezkrajna molitva
Vivace? :(
This could be an OST, on Oscar worth of OST.
