The retailer Very used ‘Slim’ in it’s name but actually I think it’s just referred to as the “Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Chromebook’ or sometimes seen as the ‘5i’ as it has an Intel processor. I’m not sure if the Slim is actually another model or just an alternative name. I know in their Windows laptop ranges there does seem to be two different versions.

It's either that or a museum in the future! 😂 I do sell most of them on locally as this helps fund the next one to feature on the channel, I just need to look at how I do this and if I can perhaps improve the efficiency of it and maybe hook into offering Chromebooks to the local UK audience here. I really like this one so far, typing this reply on it. Shame it was too early for Chromebook Plus, certainly not a case of the processor not being capable as this 11th Gen Core i5 should out perform the 12th Gen Core i3.
Yeh your videos and reviews are seriously good, straight to the point 👍. I was kinda surprised to find this Chromebook, they still sell it at Argos. Kinda surprising.
Yeah, one of those models that has hung about or had too much stock. I wish retailers would clearly advertise the date the model was released and critically for Chromebooks the date that ChromeOS updates will stop for them. At least this is a more premium model, when you see it with 4 year old entry level models with prices that match new models it's criminal really.
this was similar to my old chromebook I had before I bought the asus 2in1 chromebook, it wasnt backlit, and was touchscreen, it only lasted a year, before the base came apart from the actual inside of the chromebook itself, and the bezel went super loose, but the LED bar is actually somewhat of a battery indicator! it goes orange when it is low in battery, and the green moves down the strip to sort of show how far from fully charged the battery is! The only downsides to that one after a year and bit of usage was the fan noise, it was SO LOUD and it would go in bouts of being quieter and then it would have a frenzy and go even louder than i thought was the max (was not good in lectures) and then i also found that it would re start all the time (without reason) and then towards the end of its use, the internet would not connect, and then when i went to do it manually, it would crash! other than that it was great!

The other day when I was ordering I actually thought of you and your comments as I was sure you had a variation of this model line.....and I did remember that it didn't end so well for you, well, your Chromebook!! Was it a Pentium Gold processor you had in yours(?) This one looks/seems great, early days though. The heat from the processor when using it on my lap isn't too much fun in the summer heat! Thanks very much for the update on the LED bar. Just earlier when I opened the lid I noticed the light bar wasn't full and it became so obvious that it must be a battery indicator. Interesting idea, guess it may be handy, if not unique. Is it a little sad I'm now intentionally trying to let it run down to see it go amber? 🤣 Hope things are going well with your ASUS. Hi, thanks for checking the video. Are you not thinking of the more recent 16 inch model there where they had the 'regular' version and the gaming Chromebook with the 120hz display?
@@MergeDroid You are correct, there are so many variations and naming schemas (ideapad 5i) of the same model it is hard to manage which one. Thanks for the video!
@AxemanMessiah no worries, yup Chromebook naming is confusing at best and quite often a nightmare 😂 See my update on the name of this one in the pinned comment as an example! 📍 The Lenovo gaming Chromebook looks great though. I came close to buying one, but finding a good deal is tough. Hopefully in time I'll get hold of one and some of the newer gaming Chromebooks from the likes of Acer and ASUS too.

Theres a 120hz version of this one as well, apart from the fan noise it's quite good, I would recommend it.
