I wanted to start off by saying thank you so much to everyone that sent us gifts for the horses. Cory and I are overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!!!! We are truly grateful for all of your support!
It has been two weeks since Anna arrived at the farm after being rescued from a kill pen and almost sent to slaughter. She is making great progress. The swelling in her legs is getting better since we have been taking her out for long walks. She is also regaining strength everyday since she is getting the proper nutrition. This video is an update on everything we have been up to this past week.
We have had questions asking if we have an Amazon wish list to help with supplies for the horses. Unfortunately, we do not have a wish list because we purchase all our horse supplies from HF&C Supply Amarillo.
HF&C has offered to help us with anyone wanting to send a gift of Alfa-Pro to the horses. When you call, tell them you are sending a gift to Fletcher Farms Amarillo and they will add those bags to our account. Alfa Pro is $15.75 per 50lb. bag plus tax. WE go through about 2 bags per day to feed all the 7 horses.
Thank you to all of our subscribers for your support, kindness and generosity! We are grateful for everything and don't know what we would do without your support!

It's staggering how someone allowed her to literally waste away. Especially knowing that she was bred. I've always wanted to give horses a retirement home so I'm living vicariously through your channel. Anna looked so sad when she arrived. Good work!

Anna is looking a lot brighter , your doing great work with these Belgium draught horses , her eyes are looking so much brighter , l think you've given her a new lease of life , before she looked like she was depressed and had given up on life and humans . Kindness , patience and decent food , exercise can give horses a reason to trust again , l cant wait to see her in 3/4 months time , she will be unrecognisable lm sure ! Thanks for your kindness you are giving to these beautiful animals who have served man for thousands of years !

Thank you! I was actually looking at the other horses today and I think they are gaining a little too much weight…🤦‍♀️ Freya the horse we rescued before Anna…we just cut back her food because she looks healthy finally! It took about 5 months for Freya to get to a proper weight. She wasn’t nearly as underweight as Anna. It’s going to take some time for Anna but she is definitely on the road to recovery.

@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo You could speak with Yvonne, of Friesian Horses here on UA-cam, about Anna’s behavior.
Her horse Uniek lost two foals, so she has experience with how to help the mare grieve. She even was able to introduce a foal, Rising Star, which Uniek adopted as her own. (A rare happening.)

I've seen that kind of fluid "lump" on mares kept in stalls after delivery. The more exercise you can get her to do the faster it should go away. Obviously she can't go full tilt yet, so just keep doing what you're doing. She is looking great, her ribs are looking much more fleshy now and her neck is looking better too. That poor girl. It looks like whoever had her tried to get one last foal out of her. That pregnancy and possibly nursing the foal helped put her in such a bad condition. Whatever nutrition she received went into milk production. That and the fact that she wasn't well cared for to begin with.
The Ima Survivor Sanctuary near Houston had an elderly donkey named Ivy that they didn't know was pregnant, and she dropped a healthy foal one day to their surprise. But after just a few days they could tell Ivy was losing condition and dropping weight real fast, and also the baby wasn't thriving, so it appeared he wasn't getting enough milk. So they had to take him off momma, and the owner's dad who lives next door and is retired took the baby donkey and bottle fed him. It grew up with an orphaned heifer calf who was also being bottle fed at the time, and they are now best friends out in the pasture. Ivy quickly regained her condition after that and is still thriving now almost two years later.
I think what Anna's previous owner did to dump her at an auction knowing what her fate was likely going to be is just horrible. Shame on them.

We haven’t weighed her…we don’t have a scale that big here on the farm.

I wanted to leave you a separate comment about this. I recently learned that a group of video creators, many of which are farm channels, just attended their first ever Video Creators United conference in Tulsa the last weekend in August. It was organized by the people with the Keeping it Dutch and the Arms Family Homestead channels. Lester and Jami from Ima Survivor Sanctuary (a non-profit farm animal rescue) were presenters there as well. They had people from all over the country coming there to learn about video creation and how to grow their channels, etc. Many were newer and smaller channels like yourself. You may want to reach out to those channels and find out if they're going to do another conference next year or have any information they can share with you.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Thank you so much for letting me know! I will definitely reach out to them. I want to grow this channel and show people what it’s like on the farm. I will check them out for sure! Thank you again!

@@FletcherFarmsAmarillo Sorry I couldn't let you know in advance but learned about it afterwards on several channels. Of those mentioned, I only follow Ima Survivor regularly. Lester from Ima Survivor retired from teaching school to focus on this full time, as did Daniel Arms who retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. That's how much their channels have grown. Some other channels that I know that attended are Cog Hill Farm and Catching Up With the Walkers.

I am new to your beautiful, uplifting channel. if i might make a suggestion...you shoukd number your videos....which would make it easier for us new folk to watch in order so we can figure out who is who with all the critters, and able to follow the story line! Thank you both, all (vets, farrier, etc) for all you do. breaks my heart about where they came from, and imaging what happened to thise who had to be left.

Oh sweet Anna! She definitely looks brighter. And also starts to fill out. So glad she is doing good! The halter looks great on her. So grateful to anybody who supported you! Wow - you walked her three hours! All of the animals get amazing care in your hands 🙏 It was kinda funny to see both of you in fast forward ☺️ She walked herself in - no stopping such a big horse for sure 😂 The other horses look really great. But you can see how skinny Anna really is. It’s so, so sad she got to this state! And such a lucky girl at the same time that she is alive and with you. Any update video is very much appreciated! 🙏 Is there a way to support you from another country?

Thank you! I love her halter…it’s perfect for her! Yep…we walked for 3 hours and I got sunburned 🤦‍♀️ when she’s done with the walk she takes herself back to her run. It was so funny! I do get paid through UA-cam partner program so when you watch the videos you are supporting us as well. We truly appreciate your support and following our story.

I’m not sure? Someone said she was calling for her baby and that breaks my heart. I’m really hoping she was calling to our horses.

Hi I am new to your channel and really appreciate what you are doing. Do you rehome the horses or keep them. I was watching another channel where someone was also rescuing Belgians and draft horses. However I was disappointed when she said she was going to sell a Belgian draft at a horse auction. I just think the horses have been through so much and should be kept safe. What are your thoughts.

    • @FletcherFarmsAmarillo
      @FletcherFarmsAmarillo  Рік тому

Thank you so much for watching and following our story. We keep our horses. We aren’t a rescue, we are just people
who have rescued horses. All our animals have come from auction/slaughter house. I would never put them through that horrible situation again. This is their permanent home free from pain and neglect. From here forward our horse will only know love and kindness.
