I think the only reason Peter's celestial powers worked and the others didn't is because Ego received the others before they had finished their version of what we call puberty, and since Yondu kept Peter, he was allowed to fully mature which would also allow his Celestial abilities to appear whereas Ego's other Hybrid kids were probably taken around the same age as Peter, either before the Maturing process or near the beginning and since they hadn't completed it like Peter did, they never gained access to their Celestial side

They should also include that Knull is coming as well. Erishem said it himself, before the Celestials and them creating light, the universe was a dark reflection of itself, a void. In the comics, this was a void that Knull ruled over.

Are we forgetting Ego's own explanation of his history? He didn't start out as a planet. He was a brain floating in space. Seems like he could have just been a celestial that was defeated in some kind of battle and left for dead. At some point, his brain healed enough to awaken but with his memory lost.

It would lead to a undeveloped Celestial. Whether that would just pause deployment or eventually kill the Celestial idk.
The planet he was incubating in had to be destroyed to fit the entire Ego narration of his coming to exist.

MCU will definitely switch it up for the big screen and I think that’s acceptable. There were a lot of weird decisions in comics over the last few decades and the MCU wants to make it a little more feasible. I’m on board with it. They did a fantastic job with avengers

    • @burtan2000
      @burtan2000 2 роки тому +7

Acceptable? It's preferred. Infinity War movie was infinitely better than the comic, IMO. The biggest change was the biggest improvment: Thanos trying to get some of that Death coochie to Lost Anti Hero powerful alien thing that goes out of his way to let the stones pick.
That was elegant. Simple but deep. Not convoluted like this. Anyone could follow the general premise and anyone could understand Thanos had a vision and his goal wasn't bad. But why not double the resources? anyway, it worked. This is too complex and won't work. IMO

@@sha2143 no one said his plan was good. That’s who. A heavy accusation to call him a communist. If you want to make it political, Thanos’ ideology fits more of an authoritarian centrist regime and perhaps is even fascist if you believe the theory that “the snap was random” was a lie and he was culling the heard of those that would stand in his ways of being the ultimate life form, IE Doctor Strange, and Scarlett Witch- the two people who were, in his mind closest to killing him (besides Thor of course). That’s just a spitball theory so maybe not too much to worry about.
But anyway, calling him a communist is a weird thing to do because Thanos’ ideology isn’t really communist, or political at all so let’s leave it out of this alright?

My theory is that you're half right: I think Ego being created by Celestials tracks. They may have even led him to believe that he *is* a Celestial. I believe he's just another creation given greater power than the Deviants or Eternals. Honestly, it might even be that he was their FIRST creation. I don't believe that Ego sleeping around and making offspring is a new way of Celestials being born. After all, he's only creating half-breeds. I feel like the Celestials are too arrogant to consider a half-breed one of their own. *However* If the explanation of how Celestials are born tracks from Eternals, it could mean that Ego was created to have his plan succeed. The sudden burst of energy from his terraforming might have been designed to generate enough power to hatch all the Celestials at once, without Ego even knowing.

    Moving forward until told otherwise:
    1) Thanos' knew killing half was enough to starve all the unhatched celestials.
    2) Ego was planted into a planet that blew up, so he 'evolved' into something different.

Interesting theory. I would add that, to me, Asgard is another, different, "line of research" for Celestial evolution.
Instead of an organic Celestial that keeps on living and impregnates other planets (i.e. Ego), the Asgardian noble bloodline carries the "Celestial Esence" that is inherited by the Asgardian Ruler when his father dies.
That's why Odin's, Hela's and Thor's great power is tied to the planet Asgard, much like Peter's power is tied to the planet Ego.
So the asgardian's gods are really other way of reproducing celestials, and one that does not destroy the planet they inhabit.

What Ego does isn’t that different from what the Celestials themselves do. But given his failure rate (Peter’s the only success), he likely wasn’t that big of a threat to the Celestials.
But more likely - as with the Mandarin - Ego simply considered himself one of the Celestials for lack of a better comparison.

During the fight Starlord only briefly tapped his celestial powers , Ego effected his confidence. Since celestial couldn't procreate directly they planted their seed in planets which would be consumed when they matured. Big catch 22. Ego was created to change that but it appears that they didn't teach him anything, just left him to his own devices. If Celestials were experimenting with human procreation it stands to reason that the offspring of Ego wouldn't lose their abilities just because the parent died. That would defeat the original purpose of genetically creating Ego. So it appears that Ego lied to Starlord.

I like the thought of Galactus being introduced as the devourer specifically of Celestial-seeded worlds. And I can buy the theory that Ego was an experimental step in the Celestials' evolution, enacted as an answer to Galactus. I actually think that would sync well in line with the lowkey running theme the Guardians films have explored regarding the pitfalls of forced evolution (1. Rocket as the most scared of all within the group (according to his counterpart, Yondu) because he's been engineered into a new, uncertain state of personhood by way of what experimentation was done to him, 2. Peter turning down the choice to receive cosmic insight and bond with the light in full because doing so would've only deprived him of the greater connection to those he loved - a connection with which he identifies on a very human, non-godly level, 3. the impending trouble wrought by the inevitably premature development of Adam, set to appear in the third film). The part I have an issue reconciling is the theory that Ego was actually unwittingly doing the Celestials' bidding by "double-seeding" their planets of choice. It just feels clunky. Like there are too many overlapping variables that need to line up in a row to make the same buns come out of the same ovens. I get the sense Ego will be explained as an intentional creation exactly as posited in this video, but then that's when I think random chance takes over, as it often does in actual evolution. I think somehow, someway, Ego was abandoned by the Celestials after being deemed insufficient as a viable "next step" for them. I imagine they would've been disinclined to kill a being which is technically one of their own. So in classic Celestial grand-scale-calculus fashion, they decided it wasn't worth it to nurture a perceived failure but also opted to let him live and make his own way (continuing, though not quite mirroring, the inadvertent orphan theme shared with his son). But perhaps they didn't anticipate his evolving the ability to seed other planets via organic extensions of himself, just as they did not anticipate the evolution of their own deviants. So Ego goes off the rails, showing up on thousands of planets and doing the only thing life has taught him to do thus far: create more life. I think his ends ran oppositional to the Celestials' plan, though. And I think Quill and Co. taking out Ego was actually doing Arishem a favor. Just a guess though.

    • @woll3Y
      @woll3Y Рік тому

While classic storytelling frames good vs. evil, I think the MCU has done a good job framing a struggle between order vs. chaos. With a few evil henchmen thrown in to keep it interesting to all audiences. Greco-Roman mythology covered the order/chaos subject before human knowledge developed to a point where we didn't need gods to explain the unexplainable. Galactus as Top Predator maintains order by preying on Celestials to ensure life doesn't overrun the universe and gobble up all the resources. @screencrush has a theory that Ego creates camouflage that hides Celestial embryos from getting eaten, in keeping with the predator/prey relationship there. If the universe is in balance like an ecosystem, then Galactus eats just the right amount of Celestials to keep the universe from overpopulating, while Celestials need to constantly innovate to make sure Galactus goes hungry and life continues. Galactus would, therefore, also need to evolve to survive. Balance is the delicate Order in which life thrives, but if either side gains too much advantage for long enough, then the imbalance will be irreversible, and Chaos results. With the introduction of the multiverse and time travel, MCU writers in the next phase should consider Galactus as a traveler between universes (extra-universal?) and needs to come to ours because the Celestials have begun toying with timelines and multiverse conflicts here in a way (peaceful or otherwise) that threatens the balance that has existed for billions of years. Only the Avengers would have the intelligence, strength, and spirit to restore balance in a way that preserves our planet, or this time our whole universe.

Dude, this is great. It makes sense and just feels like a good development of the story. Ego saying he's a Celestial while not resembling what we understand to be Celestials confused me, but I have genuinely just brushed it off as an inconsistency that should have been caught. But I am often clueless while Marvel is often brilliant. Your theory is quite brilliant too. So it made me start wondering about things I'd left completely unconsidered until now. Thank you for the inspiration!
[And so I wrote a book...]
So Ego started alone and lonely, then "wanted to experience what it truly meant to be human," which led to disappointment, which led to the desire "to fulfill life's one true purpose; to grow and spread, covering all that exists until everything is" him..... so that what, he can feel accomplished but ultimately lonely again??? Though I will say that would be poetically fitting for a character designed to reflect self-importance, ambition, and conquest; it's a flawed purpose considering what he expressed was loneliness and desire to escape it.
So... What if Ego's Expansion wouldn't nullify an emergence, but instead it would effectively boost the sentience of each planet immediately to a Celestial emergence? So maybe Ego was designed by Celestials to do precisely what he did, to spread and seed all planets populated by sentient life, but like an Eternal, he was created without knowledge of the deeper truth in his design; that he was designed by Celestials to complete a task, nothing more. Like the Eternals have the purpose of protecting/guiding life so that it can flourish...only to let it die in a Celestial emergence. All their work is wiped away for the deeper purpose. So the "unceasing impulse to find life" within Ego was part of their design. And upon fulfilling his mission and completing The Expansion, every Celestial seed would hatch in unison so then Celestials would overwhelm Galactus and all existence.
So maybe Ego was designed to turbo-incubate the seeds of Celestials into a mass hatching. So then Ego's Expansion would still be in-line with the will and design of the Celestials.
    ON THE OTHER HAND...
I started thinking, how did Ego just become a brain that perceives himself as a Celestial?
I know this is crazy, but what if Ego is the disembodied brain of a Celestial that somehow rebooted / regained consciousness? And that's why he has the impulse to spread his seed to every planet... because it's the same programming running in his brain to do what Celestials do; but he's doing it unknowingly because he's disconnected from his body/soul and therefore disconnected from some Celestial collective consciousness / mothership / hivemind / clique / discord / whatever because well...he's dealing with some head trauma.
Like, what if Knowhere was Ego's Celestial head? Like, I know that somewhere in comics, Knull decapitates a Celestial with the All-Black. And Knull took the body and soul of the Celestial to the Realm Between. And I know he left the head behind and it became the mining station, Knowhere. And I know _some_ brain tissues were mined from Knowhere, but I don't know that the _entire_ brain was there or not. So then I found myself wondering, could a Celestial eject its own brain for self-preservation? Or did Knull just yeet the brain? Listen, I know this is crazy... I'm about 99.999% sure that Ego has nothing to do with Knowhere, but I can't stop thinking about this now; I love it.
I especially love your theory of Ego being the next evolution of Celestial. It reminds me of the way Skynet would upgrade its Terminators in revolutionary ways to stay ahead. Really cool stuff. You craft such great theories, Ryan. Thank you. And thanks to anyone who read this pile. You get a big heart. 💜

    Personal theory:
Ego is the balance to the Eternals. Throughout MCU we see agents of balance. While Galactis is feeding off the Eternals seed or straight up taking them in battle, he has no way of reproducing. This means that the balance could be thrown off if/when he is killed. That necessitates Ego. A force that can destroy to the Eternals while not in direct battle as his power is tied to his source. Assuming part of what he stated is true, blowing up the planet only freed his consciousness from the confines of a rocky planet and he is now again drifting along until he reconstitutes himself in another planet form.
Peter on the other hand is the evolution of Ego. He is not tethered to the source planet as Ego is. He is able to stay away without dying. This could mean that his powers, while not equal to Ego's may be more able to feed off other sources.

This theory isn’t a good one.. I’m leaning on the idea that Ego lied about being a celestial… In the comics he’s given people powers and boosts like the silver surfer in silver surfer black. The surfer alone could annihilate a planet which is only a tiny portion of the power cosmic. There’s no way in hell Ego could keep up with the likes of galactus let alone the surfer in power. Multiple Celestials could possibly slow down galactus but a well fed galactus is damn near unstoppable and realistically has to either be led to another planet to consume or gets threatened by the ultimate nullifier (which is an extension of galactus’ full power) which Reed Richards wiped out an entire universe with. So no ego has no place among characters who would pose a threat to Galactus.

In the comics I believe Galactus tried to eat Ego and they fought.

Odin, the Pheonix Force, Zeus, and a couple others come to mind as possibly on Starlords level when it comes to characters who are extremely strong and could be some kind children of Celestials. Add in Chthon and other big baddies too.
I still think Kang is the focus of phase 4, because he has numerous versions and keeps coming back in the comics, but Galactus or Doom will come along and be in phase 5.

I really love this theory about Ego and how he’s just another Celestial experiment that could very well be a total success in the expansion of their Godly race. Transforming the current metallic and bio-mechanical Celestial race into organic bodies that can procreate with living organisms like Ego, than he also have to explain the other side of their race. Meaning, what about the other Celestials!? The Aspirants. They were the first group of Celestials that Did Not Rebel against the First Firmament who created both races of Celestials. The second group of Celestials are the multicolored armored looking ones we saw in the Eternals movie who created the Eternals and Deviants as well as manipulating the human race. If Marvel Studios is going to introduce the multicolored Celestials which we saw in the Eternals movie, than we’re more than likely going to have to see the Aspirant’s if they’re going to truly expand the Cosmic side of the MCU. Introducing the Aspirants will really help in diving into the entire creation of the known universe within the MCU proper.

I have a theory that Ego at one point was "Nowhere" I think that the celestial that Null decapitated is
Nowhere. Nowhere dies, in turn Ego was born. This makes since seeing as ego "started" as a brain in the cosmos. it still doesn't account for the loss of memory that ego would've had to endure from a premature celestial death

Perhaps Thanos' real plan was to not only take half the life in the universe but also half the celestials to preserve the universe.

I have this feeling that Celestials can’t be affected by the stones. It’s possible that they created the stones. Even if Wong states otherwise.

Ego was a creation by Arishem but his Ego was so big, he called himself a Celestial. Similar to Elon Musk having paypal and tesla sign a contract that requires them to refer to him as a founder.

A Multiverse of finite universes makes for an interesting story, especially if they merge into an infinite universe at the end with varied life instead of various outcomes and possibilities.

... Just imagine if Galactus can feed on Tiamut's seed through the marble shell left behind, and not destroy Earth in the process.
This, I suspect, would be best case for Earth.

Unless I’m mistaken he also wanted to wipe out half of the life in the universe.

This is awesome! I’ve been waiting for years to see this come to pass, and Galactus will continue to destroy the celestials no matter what they do because he will realize their trick. Now with this said he also has his herald the Silver Surfer 🏄‍♀️ and between the both of them the can keep all those celestials at bay. He’s can make the Silver Surfer a little more powerful and make him understand why he eats planets since he was not aware of this in the past and knowing this the Surfer can come on Galactus’ side to keep the universe in check. Galactus and the Surfer to me at least are the most powerful of all marvel characters. Yes let’s do this, I’ve waited 50 plus years to see and find this all out.
