Had a boss once who was devoted to the Orleans. Always thought she was spinning stories about how nice the place was and how much she won there when she visited… Until one day we traveled together to Vegas and she introduced me to the Orleans and I got a chance to see how much she won on a daily basis when she played there - Just knocked my socks off! Thanks for doing this review, Coolist!!💕

Orleans is owned by Boyd Gaming so casino comps are very stingy. The casino is big and smoky, restaurants are not a bargain, but compared to the strip hotels they're relatively affordable. No buffet though. The pool area is nice, plenty of chairs, but open only 9am-7pm, there's a main one- big, a heated whirlpool and a kiddie pool.
If you want to visit the strip, it's a 5-15 minute 2 mile drive based on traffic, $10-20 on Uber/Lyft/Taxi, RTC public bus $2 one way to the strip or back. There's a retail strip mall across the street with fast food places, bar & grill, Bank of America. Walgreens is about a 10 minute walk west of the hotel, have to cross a major intersection to get there.

Kudos to you for going off-strip and out of your comfort zone to give a look at a locals casino-hotel. I would think you'd give more than a "1-average" rating given you had a good room (for the price) and good food & drinks. From what I've seen with room reviews (yours or others), I don't see value or service at the elite casino-hotels to justify their rates. Otherwise, very good vlog.

You nailed it with your review - Orleans has a lot going for it -decent rooms, good restaurants like Big Al's, good gambling and lots of stuff to do -bowling, movies, etc. Also, it has attractive and attentive drink service, as it caters to a local crowd and depends on repeat business. It's not for fancy destination bars or restaurants, but it's great value. It's also generous with room comps.
As it's close to UNLV, it's popular with out-of-town college and HS kids in town for tournaments (with the arcade and food court and isolated location, they can't wander off and get into trouble).
Also, every year, the Orleans hosts a popular Rockabilly Weekend, with a classic car show, hep cats and girls with big hair and poodle-skirts! Great fun!
Thanks for your great work as usual.

Thanks for you honest review of the Orleans. I agree and you are spot on with your assessment. This is from someone which has stayed there numerous times in the past. Great casino for gambling and some nice food options. Draw backs are numerous kids, rooms that need urgent upgrades and more security (at times you get some shaky characters).

I wouldn't go to one in Vegas, but TGIFridays is underrated! Their holiday drinks including the cotton candy were really good. The hotel looks cool and well decorated, but I'd go for better amenities myself also! It having an arcade, will likely mean more rugrats than I want to spend a Vegas getaway around!

Oh, and I agree with your rating. I might be more generous and give it a 2 if it were on the Strip, but being two miles off-Strip makes it less convenient for me personally: especially as someone who follows a plant-based diet and wants to be where more of the action is. Still, the Orleans does a lot right and I totally get why it has a high rating on numerous hotel listings. =)

The casino, pool, amenities, shows are nice. Hotel rates on the high side, staying in the hotel tower is better than the pyramid. Buffet is back open only 8am-3pm, $30, it's ok, not good. Other hotel restaurants are good, but overpriced. Avoid the fast food court- it's a tourist trap rip off!

Well honestly, my first time in Vegas I took a room at the Cosmopolitan, but on my second time, took something cheaper, the truth is, you are not much in the room so i'd rather take that 100-150$/day and put it toward a show or gambling etc. But thats just my take on it :)

I'm not going to lie since I know you prize honesty and hope for the same from us because it always inspires growth and improvement: I think this is slightly weaker than most of your reviews (and mind you you still do Vegas resort reviews better than everyone else I've encountered by a considerable margin in terms of substance and detail), and here's why.
Usually when you do reviews, you provide a generous amount of video footage of the resort, casino and amenities itself. With this review, you offered minimal video footage of the casino exterior, the lobby, the casino floor aside from the machine you tried, etc. Obviously this was the off-season so it makes sense nothing pool-related was featured here, but it still was lacking compared to usual in terms of visual atmosphere and ambience-setting. As always you delivered on the bars and restaurant reviews, but I felt the overall resort depiction was a step down from how you usually deliver.
Also, the pacing of your review seemed a bit more hurried compared to usual. In the latter half I'd say you did a great job explaining who the Orleans is for and who it isn't for like you always excel at, but the former half felt to me like you were in a timed situation and wanted to move through bullet points quickly. I don't know: I think your reviews succeed best when you appear more relaxed and are just soaking in everything in real time.
Hopefully my tough love here didn't come across too brash. =) I hope you understand I think your channel is amazing and one of the main reasons I look up to you sooooooooooo much is because you are both open-minded in your assessment of all sorts of different places AND you never hold back from acknowledging disappointment. So I'm sure you'll interpret my feedback as out of mutual respect and just keeping you honest, too. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see where you go next. =D

I went to New Orlenes last year in June. I think you should explore more because there is more variety of food there. The food court and Balawik excellent fish and chips and steak in there. Majority of restaurants were closed last year good to see the Asian was back as well. Good show but show more when exploring hotels. People are looking to see what best hotel and dinning there are available. This hotel is off the strip but not to far from entertainment and so forth down the street from the strip therefore it’s a good place to go and have fun and I am sorry you really did not enjoy your stay but don’t degrade this hotel because of your own perspective let people be the judge

    • @davidsigalow7349
      @davidsigalow7349 2 роки тому +1

As one who's stayed at both numerous times, the two properties could not be more different. Palazzo is classy and elegant, with 700-square foot rooms with fancy marble bathrooms, double sinks and bathrobes. Its pools are lovely as is the spa. It has a multitude of high-end restaurants and lounges. The slots are decent but table games have very high minimums - $30/ minimums on a 0/00 roulette wheel but "only" $20 on a roulette wheel with three green spaces (which raises the house edge to about 8% - a TERRIBLE game).
Orleans has modest rooms, a decent pool, better-paying slots, more reasonable table games with lower minimums, some good - and modestly priced restaurants (like those featured here), lots of locals and decent bands at the casino bar/lounge. It really depends on your budget and what experience you are after.
We often stay at two properties on each trip, but if I were to visit both in one trip, I'd stay at Orleans first. Once you experience the luxury of Palazzo, it's hard to go downscale.
