Yes, this game, Prince of Persia, PC-Man (nice Pac Man clone), Dick Tracy, Barbarian and Stormlord were the first PC games I ever played on my friend's PC XT with EGA graphics, all played in one sitting. By the time I had also never ever played a computer/video game before and only glimpsed several old arcades in some shops or theaters (my mom never allowed me to play or even stick around to watch other kids play them, perhaps thinking I was too young for that stuff), so needless to say my mind was utterly blown that day.
This was one of the first games I played a a kid in the 80s in my dad's office. Also alley cat, dr. livingstone, digger and pacman. Such golden times :)
dude, I literally haven't thought about this games for at least 20 years. You are a fucking legend mate. I wouldn't even have remembered the names. Thank you man that is really awesome.
rhyme.asyluM- l For those who like it: You can still play this if you like, I've setted up some very fast times in it, calling myself The Stig: www.freegameempire.com/games/Grand-Prix-Circuits
AWWWW GAAAD I remember this game when I was a kid.

This video just brought back old-forgotten memories...i used to play this along other games on my dads pc, even though i couldnt speak english, i still discovered and enjoyed them...shame that my father had passed away and i cannot show him anymore this video, would have been nice to remininsce with him...
on PC, i found a great bug. While accelerating, hold the "gear up" key pressed, and sometimes release & press it again just after. You should not change gear, but your speed will keep go up. I reached 250 with the McLaren. At 256, speed returns to 0.
The track record for Hockenheim in the configuration used in 1987 is 1:43.569, by Riccardo Patrese in 1992, driving the Williams FW14. You've smashed it by almost 15 seconds!
It looked like it was the computer driving the lap. If I recall correctly, if you don't touch anything in the game, the computer will automatically start navigating the menu, starts a race and drives, too.
When I was 5 or 6 years old, dad teach me how to write the command lines to run in MS-DOS this game and can play it. The other one game was The Prince Of Persia. Those games were the start to learn more about computer language. 😄(I have never forget this part of my childhood])
Maaaannnnn this game was sooo good back then, i remember how i was celebrating several days after i became champion on the hardest setting (u had to change tires and switch geares), i was like 5 or 6 back then and i felt like i was Senna himself.
Wow.. good old days :) i used to play this game on my Dad’s computer. We had a dos system that time and I couldn’t leave his office for hours together!
....how how did my ears survive that infernal noise XD ....first PC game i ever played back in the 80ies and so fond memories ...now all destroyed :D that sound is just ...
This game is BOSS, when I was a kid we played it for hours (even still back in 1993) I know it sounds crappy, looks crappy but still one of my top favorites next to Nebulus and the original Sokoban
i remember that i've tryed to go to that mountains, after 30 minutes i was exactly in the same position and the road was jost on 50 metres from me. lol
It's a bit softer and less rough on a real old computer, DOSBox (the emulator) is really bad at mimicking the sound. You need a special version of it to make it sound better.
Back in the good ol days, when F1 raced on a striped middle line, with spectators watching from infinite unreachable distance and the world still being a plain green surface of no features... :D
After 25 years, I, out of nowhere, remembered this game. I searched for it, and found it. The sound is still familiar. I won the Monaco race in 59 seconds. I used to brag about it. I was 14, now 39. For God's sake, bring back 1994!.
I remember playing this with my brothers on an Amstrad PC1512 with stunning CGA graphics, but I do wonder how much those sound effects annoyed the parents.
First time seeing this game in EGA 16 color graphics. I knew this game on an Hercules monitor and even with a VGA monitor I could only run it on CGA 4 colors mode.
I Like this video very much,, brings back my memory from my elementary school.. my pc was 286, processor and RAM on board, the disk was a size of a toaster.. LoL..
It's weird how the graphics on the DOS version were so much better than on the C64 version, yet the sound was so much worse. You'd think it would all be proportional. In any case, either way, it's one of my favorite games.
This comment begs for a Darude: Snadstorm reply :D What do you mean what soundtrack it is? It is composed for the game. There is a better arrangement in the Commodore 64 version although.
Or if you mean that if the tune had a name applied to it, like the sound tracks of a professional music album or even a modern game. There isn't in these old games. If the composer might have named it something for himself, we may never know.
who else played this on their dad's work computer during childhood? :)
MEE!!!
Me too
I played this game on our XT in 1991 or so!!

OMG I play this when I was about 3 years old. I'm now 26 and still remember that theme music in my head
Souvenirs incroyables. Mon premier jeu de F1 sur l'ordinateur de mon père. Même la musique me revient.
So much time spent to this! This 8bit tracks will stay in the memory forever
One of my favourites around 1990. Played it over and over again. Bruno Gourdo! Germany was favourite track.

10 years after your comment, it's time to make a patch after 32 years.
now I must try it lol :D
Wow Awesome..i played this game when i was studying d base 3 plus...thanks a ton for uploading this
At 10 years old, this game seemed to me the limit of realism and technology perfection.
No words can describe happiness and thrill I had playing this game as a 7-year old.
I'm still playing this every day and it's 2023. Nothing can beat this game..
Feel the same
It was one of my favorite games! And sound was bright!

Damn again a game I used to played a lot when I was young ! You got all my classics dude, thank you so much for this video :)
Yes! Especially completing the Monaco track under a minute, that was THE thing

Soo much nostalgia with that theme. I used to play this game ALOT in 1991 on our XT
What a top quality example of software engineering
oh the memories, I played this game on a B&W monitor as well as a G&B monitor then years after played it on a full color monitor haha, loved it!
This was the first game I ever played and I'd been trying to find it for ages. As soon as the music started playing I knew I'd found it
By 1993, I was the top 10 for every race track and the championship. XD As a woman, very few people know this game was my major start as a gamer.
Wow.. good old days :) i used to play this game on my Dad’s computer. We had a dos system that time and I couldn’t leave his office for hours together!
I played it at school in 1991 , on IBM 286. I was very happy when i played. We draw this F1 everywhere 😁
Wow this is the firs time I see this game in colour... I played it when I was 7 on my 186 with yellow and black monitor... Brings back the memories...
This brings back memories! 😊 I remember this game so well. Played with a friend battling to get the best times on the different tracks! 😊
I have the same memories
Times that never came back
Man, i loved this game.
Used to play it a lot on ZX Spectrum, then i found GP Ega on pc! With S-I-X-T-E-E-N colors! SIXTEEN! I was amazed! ^_^

don't forget Prince of Persia
I don't remember the sound being this annoying when I was a child.
It's a bit softer and less rough on a real old computer, DOSBox (the emulator) is really bad at mimicking the sound. You need a special version of it to make it sound better.
way back then it was sound of excitement
Back in the good ol days, when F1 raced on a striped middle line, with spectators watching from infinite unreachable distance and the world still being a plain green surface of no features... :D

It always reminded me of a dog as well when i was a kid
I passed out watching this, due to overdose of nostalgia.
gotta love them 12 bar blues
I think the simple theme tune is an actual great use of the pc speaker.
Back in my childhood 😂😍
How can I forget that intro and the music
The girl in the yellow mirror shades: seared into my memory.
Love the opening track
Grandes recuerdos recuerdo cuando lo jugaba en un PC 286
We had this on our school PCs lol
Always used to get a kick out of blowing the engine and seeing the rear view mirrors fill up with smoke 🤣✌️
That music when video starts :DDDDDDD
ITS SOOOO FUNNY HAHAHAHAHAHA
One of the first games for me aswell. I remember that you could put rear tyres to the front, which was kinda funny.
Putz boas recordações.
It's weird how the graphics on the DOS version were so much better than on the C64 version, yet the sound was so much worse. You'd think it would all be proportional. In any case, either way, it's one of my favorite games.
Oh man i miss this game..
my first racing game .. yay
Even better in VGA mode. ;)
Эпические рога!
can anybody tell me what soundtrack it is at 0:44 ?
This comment begs for a Darude: Snadstorm reply :D
What do you mean what soundtrack it is? It is composed for the game. There is a better arrangement in the Commodore 64 version although.

The good old days days.
Now I understand why 12 bar blues never left me
