Yes, Michelle, there is such a gentleness when Laura speaks to Benjamin. She takes time to explain why something might not work and offers alternative options instead of just saying "no". She and Aaron both give Benjamin and Samantha Grace the gift of their time.
Also have to say, once my children got older, I just wasn't really excited to go all out on decorations. However, I have a little grand baby now and he is almost two. Must say, he is bringing the little kid in me out again lol. Getting excited all over again! Hahaha. Next year he'll be even more fun as he will be even more aware. Can't wait!

Love those old lights! But there's probably like ONE bulb burnt out in the non-working one & you have to go through one by one to test, which is a pain, lol! But once you find the burnt out one & replace it with a new bulb, it should work for ya! And yes, put wreaths or some type of pine-y fluff around the barn lights, that will be so cute!
Old lights have fuses in that is likely what you need. The fuse is usually in plug.
I love the cardinals! I think putting them on the dogwood branches was a great idea as they move a bit and look so natural. And the big light bulbs remind me of when I was a kid in the 60's. We had those on our Christmas tree and they always bring such fun memories for me.
I can so identify with the way you decorate; just go through what you have and decide how you might use it. I can get so intimidated with the blogs that have a whole theme planned and everything all lined up to go, because I just can’t think like that. I love how you just naturally put it all together and it just evolves. Happy surprises! Your son is so cute and eager to help. You are definitely getting him trained right! Love your videos!

Benjamin ohhh such a sweet boy, love when he helps you, "gonna sweep out here so it's clean and new". Those deer are really beautiful and all the deco you've done, the Cardinals on the branches set them off with the pillows. It's such fun Christmas decorating with the kiddos.

Laura, I would think that investing in having those matching wrought iron handrails for the other porch would be a historical gift to the house. Having a local artist make them to match will create one of those stories that stay with the house and make it very special. I think it would look gorgeous and give your house that continuity on both porches and would look stunning. We have tried to add to the beauty of our home by giving it extra special touches and the matching railings would be so classy and a lasting addition to the home. Merry Christmas. 🥰
I so agree! And I wouldn’t wait too long to have them done. You just never know when the opportunity might disappear forever. If something would happen to the artisan, finding someone else who could do the work to match the gorgeous design might be extremely difficult.

I actually really like the pots with the birds. In a way, it matches your efforts to leave plants that allow the birds to forage from.

Yes, Yes on the barn wreaths! It would be beautiful as it’s the perfect backdrop! When you first started on front porch, I was thinking how pretty some cardinals would look on the branches and was excited to see you put them on - looks beautiful like it is, no extra tree needed. Just Lovely!

absolutely love the trees with big vintage lights...and that Hawaiin inspired Christmas twang made my heart smile. Your centerpiece is perfect for the space and may I suggest adding either rocks or sandbox sand to the base to keep the trees from blowing over in the wind. We live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and I have to weight everything down. Laura, glad to hear that you are simplifying your style. I'm sure it's a result of adding another child to the family. It happens to all of us.

Hehe I think Benjamin needs more side videos. He is always soooooo cute in the videos and Laura you're responses to him are always so well said. I would have been more worried about my son breaking the carolers then letting him just be himself and help me decorate. I know we don't see the behind the scenes every day stuff and there are the harsher side of parenting mements, but I just want to encourage you to keep up the calm, enjoying my kids vibe that you give off in these videos. You're a great Momma!
Love the small trees just heading to local yacht club that Iam a member to do planters with fresh greens from trees on the property a perfect day about 48 degrees or 9 degree s celcius in southern ontario at bottom of Lake Huron great view as working on the planters today .You give me inspiration every day wanting to be in the garden or planning for garden now working on plans for all my siblings gardens and the Sarnia yatcht club been a member for 21 years and not a lot of changes on that property for the last 48 years till new walkways around the basin hoping can convince to plant more perennials other than hostas in the next few years to add more colour we will see but you given me a direction in my life since I lost my husband early last year thank you gardening makes me smile Now ! 😀😍

Absolutely leave the Cardinals on the branches!!! I love it! I'm not usually a fan of colored lights but I love those big bulbs!!! Takes me back to my grandparents house growing up when my grandfather would start decorating in October to have everything ready for Christmas. You could see their house from the interstate and the made the front page of the Atlanta Journal. People from all over would come and see their light display.

Benjamin is darling! The Christmas trees are charming. Instant impact. The porch turned out so well too. Great use of your lit branches, and yes, keep the cardinals, they are cute. I think two BIG wreaths on the white siding of the barn, or garland aroung the window, or swags above each light.

Laura I was thinking the colored lights were traditional when we were going up and you are carry that tradition giving this to your children and watching Benjamin he certainly enjoyed the lights so I think it was rather sweet watching him get a kick out of the colored lights himself.
