    So I recently picked up the ESP E-ii Eclipse in the Blue Natural Fade finish and it is an absolute beauty! It has great low ends for palm muting and great mids for just plain ol' riffage! Not to mention that it is also a gorgeous guitar to stare at with that finish. So I decided to record a little song to showcase its versatility in a metal/thrash metal setting and I can honestly say that it was fun recording the song with this guitar! If any of you have the chance to play this guitar at your local music store or at a friends house, it definitely is worth checking out! I hope you enjoy the playthrough!
    I honestly cannot compare the E-ii eclipse with the EC1000 series because I've never owned a EC1000 before. But for the ones I've played in my lifetime, the EC1000 is also a satisfactory guitar for it's price and can honestly hold up, if not better, than this E-ii Eclipse. But that is just my opinion. Regardless, I have never had a problem with ESP/LTD guitars and always have been a fan!
    GEAR USED:

    Sweet guitar. Is the back of the neck satin on this? Looking to get one

      Thank you! It is a mahogany neck but it is a satin finish in like a "ocean blue" color. With this neck, my hands did get sweaty whenever I played it but nothing excessive either. It definitely felt sturdy and high quality when holding the neck so I hope you get that same feeling too! Good luck!

    what about the clean sound buddy ?

    • @codbond
      @codbond  3 роки тому

      The intro of the video is the guitar on it's neck pickup passing through a clean preset on Bias FX 2. For the most part, it is a warm sounding clean that is similar to a Les Paul. It is not super bright but it sounds pretty well imo! There were a few instances where I found myself adding less EQ on a clean track than I normally do because the guitar just naturally sounded really good itself!
      I hope that helps!

    Hey joey, great playing and beautiful guitar! I'm thinking about buying the same one but i'm wondering if it stays in tune well? I've had gibson's with similar headstock shapes and they kept going out of tune. Did you experience any tuning issues with this one? Thanks!

    • @codbond
      @codbond  4 роки тому

      Thanks Mark! So this was the first guitar I had ever owned with Gotoh locking tuners and I've had better experiences with other locking tuner setups. I guess my point is, it doesn't stay in tune after a day goes by. When you play it, it doesn't go out of tune even if you pick too hard or play for hours. But when I would put it down and pick it back up after a day, I would have to retune. I did mess around with tightening and loosening the locking tuners but it made no difference to it. Overall, I feel like it holds tuning slightly better than a Gibson Les Paul Studio (never owned any other Les Paul's or Gibsons) and the paint on the headstock looks mesmerizing lol
      Hope that helps somewhat!

    Just bought this over a Gibson lp studio

    • @codbond
      @codbond  4 роки тому

      Oh wow, shit just got real!!! Lol actually, the entire reason for wanting this ESP started with me wanting a Gibson lp studio at first. I tried out a wine red studio lp and wasn’t as impressed by it (mainly due to the neck). And then I wanted a lp style guitar and saw the eclipse and ended up getting it. I’ve never owned a Gibson before either but I would honestly still consider a Gibson lp. This ESP just seemed more quality built to me compared to the lp studio I tried out but I know that doesn’t reflect Gibson as a whole, even with the recent quality control issues. Either way, to each their own and I hope you enjoy the eclipse and find it more sturdy than the lp studios!

    • @THEJimmiChanga
      @THEJimmiChanga 4 роки тому

      I was literally in the same scenario. The tone of the studio just left a lot to be desired for me. What's the sense of dropping 1400 on a guitar if you're going to feel like you need to mod it?. I've always wanted a Gibson lp as well and finally was in a position to get one. Unfortunately the studio is all I could really shell out for. I feel like I'll save my Gibson purchase for an lp standard rather than a base model.

    from what i hear no stainless steel frets mine as well get the new LTD models that come with it you gt same pickups you just dont get a bone nut big whoopie

    • @codbond
      @codbond  2 роки тому

      That’s a good point to make! For a guitar of this magnitude, stainless steel frets would make more sense and would increase the value. Personally, I’ve never noticed if a guitar had stainless steel frets nor do I know if there’s a giant difference between them and guitars without them. But with the ESP, my hands get sweaty pretty quickly when playing and it’s not usual for this to happen with me when playing another guitar in my collection. The other thing is that the LTD model does not have the same EMG pickups as the ESP version. The LTD has fishman pickups, which sound great but on another spectrum. I, personally, wanted a LP body style guitar for fast riffy stuff while also keeping a warm clean tone, which the ESP does really well! Honestly, if the LTD had EMGs, I would’ve picked that up immediately
      But thank you for bringing that point up!

    • @johndigioia6499
      @johndigioia6499 2 роки тому +1

      I know it has emgs 57 and 66 what I was trying to say the ltds have fishmans which are just as equal in price as emgs if not even more expensive I’m not a fan of fishmans either

    Is it good to play heavier stuff in lower tunnings?
    like mastodon and stuff

    • @codbond
      @codbond  4 роки тому +1

      I've only tuned the Eclipse down to Drop D and Drop C# before and it still played and sounded phenomenal! I think Drop C and D standard tuning would still hold true and shouldn't be a problem. I think also the way the action is set up out of the box convinces me that the 24.75" scale can handle dropped tunings and Mastodon songs lol

      1972bmac the neck is comfy! Even with the weight of the guitar, it was still smooth to move around the neck. But I notice that my hands get sweaty more when I play it lol. Maybe it’s just me but other than that, it’s a mahogany neck and it’s comfy to move around the fretboard

      @@codbond That’s a bugger. I have a couple of ESP’s and LTD1000 with three piece necks and a couple of LP style guitars with one piece mahogany necks, and the tuning stability and truss rod adjustment is way better on the three piece ones. I live in a very hot, humid and demanding climate in Australia and I think I’ll have to stick to the older ESP stuff or new EC-1000 versions. Thanks for your answer. 👍🏻

    How is the weight?

    • @codbond
      @codbond  4 роки тому +1

      I believe the guitar weighs about 10 lbs? It is a bit lighter than a standard Les Paul imo but also not as light as a PRS Mark Holcomb SE. But standing up and playing the guitar wasn't too heavy on my shoulders but it ain't exactly paperweight either. Overall, it hasn't tired me out yet lol

    Hey Joey! How is the access to the upper frets? Really thinking about pulling the trigger on this guitar.

    • @codbond
      @codbond  4 роки тому

      B Fain access to the upper frets (I’m assuming upper in this case is near the nut of the guitar?) is actually really comfy! With the smooth neck and the action out of the box, I could play some complex riffs near the nut and not have to worry about my fingers hitting the nut constantly or needing to press down on the the frets hard enough. Honestly, playing on the upper frets kinda reminded me of James hetfield and I can see now why he plays on ESP guitars lol. But for the price, I’m also wondering if it is as comfy and smooth on an LTD EC series as it is on this eclipse. But the looks of the guitar is also the breaking point here lol. But if you do decide on it, I hope you love it!!
