Thanks for this video. I'm glad that Duncan wouldn't have been turned into a Snake Man permanently, because he's a great character and because Adam and Teela need a mentor and father figures, especially considering how young they both are in the 200X series.
I love these videos. Thanks for making them. For me, making Duncan a snake-man was one of the best things to happen to the show, as it further expanded the mythology of the show. Even to this day, the love and respect that the Mike Young Productions team (led by Dean Stefan) put into the series continues to amaze me for good.
I second this. I grew up with the 80s cartoon, but it was 200X that has made me a life long fan. It's a shame we never got a proper continuation of it. A comic continuation or something similar would have been perfect.
@@ToonJukka the attention to detail in the show is great When mecha necks breathing apparatus is removed underwater he immediately raises his neck up to breath Likewise when the snake men are awakened after centuries , the first thing they did was remove dead skin from their bodies Little things like this make this show amazing
That was one of my favorite part of the episode. The snakes not being able to taking Roboto. It made me think of the old 1980s Golden book, where we learn The Ancients created a whole group of Roboto like astronauts to explore the cosmos. Duncan made Roboto useing the ancients knowledge is why they are very similar. It would be cool to see an army of Robotos fighting the Snakemen alongside He-Ro in ancient Preternia. Combination of Elders magics and there machines is what turned the tide of The Great War. At least, thats what I'd do, if i was writing new stories.
I'm not gonna lie, I'd like to see a plot line with the Serpent’s Ring be explored in future MOTU series, especially with previous released Snake Man At Arms and Snake Teela toys and mini comics. I'm always fascinated by allies forced to be enemies against the hero and how they try to fight it and handle the conflict
I don’t even mind that in Classics-only story the change is permanent. Because even in Mattel’s comic ”Masters of the Multiverse” we see that Man-At-Arms was no longer a Snake Man Years set in the events from 2002 cartoon.
nice. was there any plans for She-ra for the 200X series? since there was a figure for her & I have seen an art of her on what she would of looked liked. can you do a vid on that?
Great coverage! Thank you! This video further highlights the biggest problem with pretty much every version of MOTU: conflicting stories. There are two explanations that make sense, here: 1) When Ian Richter mentioned (at the 3:16 mark) about making Duncan's change permanent (which is what "turned into a Snake Man for good" definitely implies), he might simply have misremembered the details after a couple of years, or misspoken, or 2) He saw the backlash from fans after saying that the change would be permanent, and decided to back-pedal on the idea and say it was only for a 3 - 5 episode story arc. Now, I never saw the follow-up comments from Ian, Gary, and Dean, so as far as I knew, Duncan's change WAS permanent, and I'm sure there are thousands of fans out there who thought the same, because of similar lack of access to the additional materials.
I adore your videos! Killin' Duncan after makin' him a Snake Man is a shameful end and poor writing. That's the trend of this Dystopian Age that we're livin' in the last 30 years, just check what's the narrative pattern in the overrated soap opera called Game Of Thrones for example. But Masters Of The Universe is an '80s product and it doesn't need more drama or plot twist to work, just good writing!
I like this idea too. With the new packaging art and darkhorse comics we know more about beastmans species then we ever did before. We got a little hint of them from the 1982 DC comics. And i recall a refrence made to his people living in Berzerker Islands in the 2003 Icons of Evil. I never understood why we haven't had more Beastman centered stories. Except that wacky "biff beastman", earth astronaut and cremate to Queen Marlena, orgin everybody tries to forget, (yet New Campions of Eternia canonized, like it or not) Beastman has no origin to speak of...which is crazy since he is as OG as it gets! He was the 3rd charecter conceived if for this franchise!!!! I love how Evil-Lyn introduces the "curious quartet" in the 1987 film...This ain't just any ol beastmin, no this is THE BeastMan! He is THE pinicle of his species of "savage henchpeople"! Originally, in 1981, before everthing was ironed out, there was a question of who was the lead badguy, the d-man or the beastman? I love reading that early Lords of Power 1st draft. I like the ideas of exploring The Beastmen tribe more in that more 1982ish "savage eternia" era with Jungle He-Man. I figure he-man and beastman are enimies since childhood, growing up rumbling in the jungles of a primordial First Eternia long before Skeletor showed up. Generational warfare going back to shortly after the Great Wars
I’ve never met the dude. So can’t say I hate him. I just don’t like misinformation being spread, when the answers can be still found in active links. 😎
@@ToonJukka haha, haters doesnt mean you HATE him, and i agree and appreciate you showing that Scott, yet again, was wrong. You and Retroblasting should do a collaboration.
Another great and informative video! Glad to see the record set straight for this piece of MotU history. Turning Duncan into a snakeman is cool for a bit, but I didn't want it to be a permanent change.
He had another video where he spoke about the finale of 200x and also took some liberties with the ending of the story including Eternia not trusting the Gar. The writers never explicitly stated Keldor's people were Gar. @@ToonJukka

I rather Man-at-Arms stays human Duncan is Duncan.A better episode would be they clone him then turn the clone to a snake.

Great information, thanks.
My favourite moment was where the magic snakes enter robotos body but fail to transform him into a snake man cuz he's a robot
It’s a great moment to show how Roboto is a good addition in the team.

Also it not even being attempted against He-Man since he had some assumed protection against such spells?
@@Megageoe In He-Man's case he did have the new Snake Armor that specifically helped him thanks to Grayskull.

I was thinking of scott while watching this, so I started cracking up at the end.
I don't recall a reawkened Man-at-Arms from classics though.
