Back ib the day, I was a huge fan of Steve Jackson games. I played nearly all of them from Melee, Wizard, GURPS, GEV, Oger and Fantasy Trip. I didn't realize it was still going on until I saw Oger on the Steam store
I played this as a kid as well as some other microgames. I still have my 2nd edition box set of Dungeons and Dragons that I bought off the shelf in 1978. Fun times.
Ohhh, that makes sense. I wasn't sure if the other weapons besides missiles were used up when used, and couldn't be used again. Well, that explains why I lost that game! Thanks for the walkthrough! This really helped me understand some of the finer points of this game!
played this back when it came out, have a game room with a projector, have sheet metal for a screen going to put magnets on the unit's and play it in a real world map. put little (different color ) jewls on the unit's because of the overlay from the projector for unit identification. Was wondering on what to do with my projector you gave me my idea brought back memoirs of this game. Tanks M1.
In a typical game, the defender receives an amount of points from which to build their force, and they get to choose their placement. In the base scenario a Mark III like we saw in this video would be up against 12 'armour points' of vehicles or howitzers, and twenty squads of infantry (usually six threes and a two). Different scenarios exist, and the defending force is adjusted to reflect the ogre type(s) on the attack. Slugfests with ogre vs. ogre are also possible, e.g. Mark III and some bits and pieces versus an attacking Mark V... but the purity of a game in which one player has just a single unit is generally what makes Ogre a great, short game.
It’s frikkin’ huge! It is said in the background that Ogre’s are so big and inhuman that even the military on its side don’t like to be around it. OGREs are big.
In the game Risk as long as you keep winning the dice roll attack you can continue, is this format the same or is it one roll one move then next player rolls
Steve Jackson doing a walkthrough!? Isn't this beneath you? Nice game by the way, though I don't have enough room in my house to play it (oh well, I'm fine playing this at the comic shop).

I love this game, and I love the way this company treats its consumers with the respect they deserve.
WHOA! My baby has sure grown up since 1982! Congratulations SJG and company!
Hey, we had phones 35 years ago. Most still had dials on 'em.
Ogre uses scenarios. The two basic Ogre scenarios are in the rulebook and it also has a scenario book and you can easily make your own scenarios.
At first I was thinking that a missile shooting at infantry was laughable, but thankfully, so does he.
I am in love with this game. At 7:16 missiles are range of 5 and attack strength of 6.
Thank you for being awesome mr jackson.
Love your company

Thanks for the walkthrough. I'm glad you took the time to do it :)

Damn this was befor u2b took off the thumbs down. But good one.
"The ogre takes a shot... 1... thats lame"
great game,
Does Ogre use scenarios to determine the units each player will use and maybe map set up? Or is this all determined some other way?

It's a turn base so you move all yours then you're opponent moves.
