Your support for the Z31 community is greatly appreciated! Would you be interested in doing a Volvo electric steering upgrade? It's been well documented in other car communities, but I'm interested to see how it should be tackled in a Z31.
I have thought about doing it and it just depends on if I can find the room to put it in. There's not a lot of space in my Z right now and I want to keep things as tidy as possible. I'm probably going to be reworking everything soon so we will see if I can find space
does anyone know a good website or might have for sale? I need The rearview mirrors for a 1985zx and the covers for the T top. any help will be amazing thank you!
Finaly a complete kit with bolts! thanks for helping the community, I will defenitively order one. do you know where I can get an aftermarket differential mount insulator, its seems like nobody is making them anymore, pastpower innovations dont make them anymore and nissan either... I really need one thanks !
I am not sure who would have a differential mount. Hopefully pastpower gets more in stock soon but they have been having issues keeping items in stock recently. You may talk to Joseph Melnick at XenonZcar to see if he has a lead on parts or can fabricate one for you
will i need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator after putting these block of plates in since in theory the engine may need to run a little more lean since a lot of air is not going into the engine anymore
If you block off all your idle valves, you will need to adjust the idle screw on the intake itself to let more air in for cold starts. There's a small screw next to the throttle linkage that the linkage rests on. Right where the cable attaches
I thought about making powder coated options but it would significantly raise the cost. If I did colors to order, each kit would be in the realm of $15-$20 more expensive and would take another week or two for production. If I bought batches, it would cost me a very large amount upfront on something that would still cost more so they wouldn't sell as much as the bare pieces. Unfortunately it just doesn't look like a viable option for me to offer
Hey I have a problem I installed the block off plates and I also deleted my AIV and my Pressure regulator control valve next to the AIV and I’ve plugged everything and now it starts but dies right away unless I’m giving it gas and I have no idea what the problem is
Hey, I need some basic info on this. When I block/delete this stuff off, all the vacuum emission hoses all the stuff on the plenum etc will I run into any idling problems?
If you delete the idle control you will most likely need to adjust your idle so that it had enough throttle when cold. That means it will idle high when warm. But if it's working well, you can always leave the idle solenoid and just block off the emissions stuff. That has no effect on the idle.
I raise the base idle so it's able to run when it's cold. Once it's warm it idles around 1k rpm so there are trade offs with blocking off all the idle controls and that's something to take into account when modifying your engine
You may need to adjust the idle set screw and throttle position sensor if you delete the idle air control valve but the other two don't require any extra work
You can do these deletes to any z31. You just need to understand the impact that they have on the engine running. On a stock car there may be more negative side affects than positive. On a modified engine you will probably see more benefits, especially if you're trying to clean up the engine bay and wiring haness
Question for you: Just got an 86 turbo swap, and it starts super hard. Cold starts take 2-3 minutes and require throttle holding to keep running for first minute or so. Could this be caused by vacuum leaks? EGR? IACV? Im starting to get very confused as these things are way too complicated lol. Doesnt help that the engine bay is a rats nest of vacuum lines haha
Usually cold start issues are due to the CHTS sensor. I recommend replacing that first and then looking elsewhere. I've got a write up on my website for relocating it as well so it's easier to access
@@TheZGarage Thanks for the reply. As a little bit of an update, I cleaned the MAF and it no longer requires throttle input to stay running on cold starts. The owner of XenonZcar garage also suggested the CHTS so I’ll definitely be checking that out
I don't quite have the fabrication skills for radiators and I'm not sure where'd I'd even begin with throttle cables, but I know people have been looking for them so I keep my eyes open to see alternatives people use. If I find a good solution, I might make a video or put a write up on my website

@@TheZGarage There's always more room in the hatch. It'll be electric so you have more flexibility on mounting and running lines.

Good block off plates, but would love to see them anodized in different colors they will see like crazy.

After you delete all the idle controls you will most likely need to adjust the throttle cable to increase the base idle
@@TheZGarage Thank you for responding so soon, I will try this and let you know what happens thank you
@@TheZGarage I adjusted the base idle to about 900 and it runs like a beast thanks so much

Just ordered these!
What size is the exhaust plug? I need one for the driver side exhaust manifold after my AIV delete. Also, where is your coil? Looks clean!!!

bro , are you running coil packs ?? how ??
I'm running a megasquirt goldbox
does anyone know where to get the kit with like next day or two day shipping?

Correct. You may need a longer screw than the stock screw though just depending on your setup
