Hi there! I just wanted to say that despite having never worked in my life, this guide helped me land an interview for a 5 star internationally recognised resort. I am extremely happy to even have gotten this far whether I get the job or not. Thanks so much!
@@ZettyLad unfortunately, life wound up happening and I ended up across the country back in my home state. It was a decent job however if not a bit stressful at times x) but overall I'm still using this template on my resume to try and get a new job down here.
@@Phillydreaming Awwwww, really? Damn, I’m sorry to hear about that. :( I also hope everything is okay with you and something not too bad or tragic ended up happening! 😅 Well, at the very least you get a bit of a break from the stress and such!!
I’ve been working in construction since high school, and in a few weeks will be finishing a certificate in healthcare. Totally new work field, and this video gave me a ton of confidence to making a new resume. Thanks!
Your 10 min video gave me knowledge of thousand dollars. I was always confused to prepare resume. I want simple but attractive resume and here it is. Thank you
Great video thanks a lot man, it’s been years since I learned this in school and most of the jobs I had never asked for a resume they just put me to work
Come on dude the title specifically stated no work experience. I literally have nothing, no volunteering, no part time job, I am starting from scratch.
I was always wondering how they do the 2 columns with zero margin and and top/bottom customization. Turn out it's with borders. Thanks to you I knew now. Thank you man 🖒.
Can you please demonstrate how to create a cover letter? I learned a lot about how to create a Resume from watching this video. Thanks for the content.
I've got a video on how to write a cover letter right here ua-cam.com/video/wRo26Gth7u0/v-deo.html It's an older video, but still holds true. Thanks for watching!
in the summary do i have to say. "i will be a great fit for the company because..." or can I just state that "I've proven" and add the things that they want in an employee that apply to me.
You typically want to avoid writing any "I" statements in the Summary. So instead of "I've proven great leadership skills over the past 5 years while managing projects" you'd say something more like "Proven leader with 5 years of experience managing projects." Avoiding the first person narrative can help you word things more concisely and fit in more keywords. The conversational tone and "I" statements are a great fit for your cover letter. I hope that helps!
What happens when you have no prior job experience to type in? But you’re currently a university student. My situation is kind of unique.. I’m 27, I’ve always been disabled (not mobility wise), and I’m also a stay at home mom. I literally have no idea what I’m suppose to write for a resume or cover letter if I don’t have official work experience. Do you have any tips?
Hi, Melanie - Wow, that is a unique situation, but you sound very strong! And though you might not have official work experience, we all know there are plenty of skills stay at home moms have to develop! In your case, I would recommend leaning in to your university experience and any other activities or groups you've been involved in. So that means you'll likely have soft skills in your skills section. (Think about any skills you've picked up at university, odd jobs, and as a stay at home mom.) Your education section should also be more detailed than on a typical resume, meaning you list relevant courses, projects, achievements, etc.I would also write an objective/summary section near the top of your resume. This is where you can state what type of job you're looking for. It's also a handy trick to be able to put some keywords in your resume. I have another video on my channel where I show how to make an entry level resume. I also have the template for free to download on my site: xamplio.com/career-resources I hope that helps!
If you have any volunteer work, after school activities, church group, etc. you can always put that. But if you don't have anything to put, just don't put an experience section at all.
Everybody who makes these videos all do the same thing and never answer the question. Going from the Communications to food industry. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will translate. What do you put with NO EXPERIENCE IN FIELD ?
Not with that attitude! There are soft skills that apply to almost all fields of work. Also, if you're early enough in your career, being able to demonstrate consistent, strong performance in any field will look good on a resume.
No work experience should mean you were never hired for a job. You don’t need qualifications to participate in volunteering or joining clubs in your school or community. Even experiences like babysitting your neighbour’s kid for example. They’re not interested in that role itself, but more into how that role made you, like being responsible, tolerant, etc
I am in Word 11 and I cannot see ANY borders after clicking on the border box. For the time being, I'll just underline as I go through the "resume process."
You don’t have to write your resume on word, if you wanna be a bit more creative but not that good you can use resume templates in canva, a lot of good free ones
Nice video! I've seen other people also put relevant coursework under their education section. Would you recommend that, or leave that information out?
If you don't have a lot of work experience to round out your resume, you can totally put relevant coursework on there. It helps beef up an entry level resume while also helping you match keywords.
Thanks for the comment! This template is pretty safe as it's only using tables for contact info and skills, but people can tweak as they see fit. If one is concerned they can always put the skills table at the bottom of the resume so that the ATS picks up all the work and education first, or just use a comma-separate list of skills in place of the table.
If you only have one bullet, you could just rewrite it as a few sentences (small paragraph). But if you do that, you'll want to do it for all job entries. I'd recommend trying to come up with some more bullet points to add, though.
Hiii... Please I want to know, I have a bachelor in finance and I worked in a bank for few months, now I moved to another country and I'm a caregiver certified I don't know if I should include that experience on my cv. I'm looking for a caregivers jobs... Thanks
