The scary thing that people dont get: this more than likely didnt start out as a scam. Ive watched a few kickstarters turn into shambles. It is extremely difficult to make a video game, and it actually gets harder* the more money/people you get. It's very easy to burn through all your money. Now, "Kingdoms" of Elyria is 100% to avoid a lawsuit. If you can't manage people, you can't make a video game like this. A lot of ambitious people don't realize how poorly they actually get along with others when they have a managerial role.

To anyone who didn't watch to the end: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE GAME IF YOU WANT RESTITUTION. This is almost certainly something the developers lawyers will try to make a case for. It may be difficult for them to get a judge to see this as acceptable, but still possible. The NDA may also have language in it that comes back to bite you in a settlement. KiraTV makes many good points here. Also that theres nothing in the alpha that's so bad it's good or meme worthy. Its emptiness. My intuition tells me that this is what the con is at this point. Get an alpha of anything out, to hopefully muddy the waters and make the case that you were promised a game, but not a *good game* and now you have it.
You hit the nail on the head with the speaking to the judge part about being able to deliver something. The other thing that I'm not hearing videos talk about is that the terms of crowdfunding require you to deliver something even if it's a different product it needs to be something this will satisfy that. The skinniest part about crowdfunding is it has a delivery date with a product expectation they could deliver a bag of crap as long as you can download it and play it and say that they delivered on their best intentions. Sadly this will lead to more people pulling scams like this.
Next they will be making a game called Fog of Elyria, which will help them resolve issues with the fog in Chronicles of Elyria, which will help them develop Kingdoms of Elyria.

You inadvertently touched on the reason why they made this crap. You said, "It's hard to ascertain at which point was this incompetence and delusion and flat out fraud." That's the point. They made this product the muddy the waters on purpose - to make it difficult for a lawsuit to prove they made "nothing" when they have now put "something" in front of the customer.
"Do not download this game. Do not, under circumstances, sign any documents or get involved with the testing for this product. They could make a case that anyone who accepted any form of game they developed, having been delivered something in return for their money." So, basically don't sign any documents, don't join the alpha test, don't download any of their games, 'cause you may not get a refund. But, I can't get this: IF they go into the position where they'll have to refund the 8 million dollars, how in the 69 shades of clownery will they find a way to refund all this money, when they barely now keep the studio going and they're now like, 8 employees (if I'm not mistaken) and Caspian? And by the way, we don't even know how the hell did he find the cash to hire new (and unnecessary) staff. This is gonna be a whole new season for Keeping Up With The Caspians, damn.
When I first saw that I immediately had my suspicions. Are we going to... experience the princess bride..? Is this an Easter egg? What is this showing exact? Or perhaps it's just some ripped stock footage from a Blender demo... and nothing is actually here lmao.

I'm normally not an MMO fan. Don't care for a lot of stuff, such as the battle systems. But I was actually kind of stoked for this. Luckily I never paid for it, since I felt the amount asking was more than I could afford.
I mean how can you fail and lose all the money when you reach 8 millions in funding ??? Are they completely mad, for that price you could literally hire 40 people or far more for 5 years to do the game for you, i simply dont get it

"Now I'm not sure if it's just me who's been smoking that crack rock" had me flying out the fucking chair laughing my ass off so hard jeeeesus, almost thinking the same thing like what in the actual fuck is this man thinking and how can he be thinking this. Kira you might be onto something here, it might just be that crack rock you're talking about because none of this makes any sense LMFAO. The writing is on par if not better than the last, it's more subtle atleast which is good. Keep it up
Thanks bro
I never funded or invested even emotionally into this game, but I love to check in from time to time just to see this criminal studio get roasted to perfection
It'll be here for you whenever there's an update bro 🙏
As a small note - Kingdoms were always planned to be released initially, as a prologue to the MMO, so it’s not like they scrapped something and starting building something else, not trying to defend them, it’s still bamboozling that they shifted the focus so severly and don’t want to show anything mmo related atm, but again, it didn’t come out of nowhere in the end
It was added on to come and slated for 2018. They then only just started making it in 2021.
Wake up babe new Chronicles of Elyria video
:D
Finally the real charismatic-head-of-game-dev character delivers. I'm sure it's everything we've been waiting for.
i like how my game gets absolutely roasted over the fire for having janky animations, made with 0 dollars in budget and a team of 1 (me lol), but this game with 8 MILLION dollars in funding, this is what these folks put out
Its the worst part of it all, the damage it does to small developers and the indie scene in general
What's the game? I'm always down for a jankfest with heart.
This is what boggles my mind. How truly creative and passionate devopers make fun little games with quirks like janky animations from a little to non-existent budget, yet these crowd source people get MILLIONS and present NOTHING!! D: It's so ridiculous to me!!
I hope to see your game someday, timi!
Don’t ever stop making games bro. You’ll never get better unless you keep making them. I used to be an absolute dog shit guitarist. Now I’m a mediocre guitarist haha. You get the point.
@@futonrevolution7671 oh im not sure i should advertise here but i guess since it wont be actually out for a long time it might be ok, its called ancient sky but im only able to work on it part time so it might be quite a while until its actually released lol thanks for asking thoughh
Keep up the good work man. I sub so I can find new exciting games and to be weary of crap like this. Appreciate the hard work. Stay healthy and thanks for the content!
was eating mom's spaghetti and my palms got sweaty seeing another coe upload
Here for this glorious saga but more so for the algorithm. Also, that outro beat from Harris Heller - "Ambient Gold" is fire!
If this shit game (or lack there of) has done anything great its helping me find your channel lmao. Love the way you call this bs out
Man, Alpha releases on my birthday! What a treat!
Happy birthday for then bro
@@KiraTV1 Thanks a lot! I am looking forward to another segment of Keeping up with the Caspians, I know it'll be a blast! Thanks for the videos!
I’m just waiting for this entire thing to finally fall apart, and for the “devs” to just admit it was a mistake/scam.
I've learn more info of this game through this channel alone than the company that's supposed to develop it.
It's been a journey.
You inadvertently touched on the reason why they made this crap. You said, "It's hard to ascertain at which point was this incompetence and delusion and flat out fraud."
That's the point. They made this product the muddy the waters on purpose - to make it difficult for a lawsuit to prove they made "nothing" when they have now put "something" in front of the customer.
Gotta love Jeremy’s smug little “I got your 8 million dollars” smirk that never leaves his stupid face.
Elyria ought to team with with Earth 2
I can only get so hard
"Do not download this game. Do not, under circumstances, sign any documents or get involved with the testing for this product. They could make a case that anyone who accepted any form of game they developed, having been delivered something in return for their money."
So, basically don't sign any documents, don't join the alpha test, don't download any of their games, 'cause you may not get a refund. But, I can't get this:
IF they go into the position where they'll have to refund the 8 million dollars, how in the 69 shades of clownery will they find a way to refund all this money, when they barely now keep the studio going and they're now like, 8 employees (if I'm not mistaken) and Caspian? And by the way, we don't even know how the hell did he find the cash to hire new (and unnecessary) staff.
This is gonna be a whole new season for Keeping Up With The Caspians, damn.
Theres 2 suits, one against caspians company and one against xsolla. Xsolla has money
@@KiraTV1 Oh, yeah, forgot about that shady thing with Xsolla and the suit against 'em. Thanks for the clarification, appreciated.
Was that sword fight scene a re-creation of the princess bride? What's all the game footage from if there was no game? Just weird.
I was thinking the same thing lol
When I first saw that I immediately had my suspicions. Are we going to... experience the princess bride..? Is this an Easter egg? What is this showing exact? Or perhaps it's just some ripped stock footage from a Blender demo... and nothing is actually here lmao.
Let’s be honest though, it’s pretty impressive
just found out about this whole drama and I cant see how it unfolds, new sub here we go
I almost wish I had backed this, just so I could a source of leaks.
never, ever heard of this game but now i'm like 5 videos, a few hours and heavily invested into this story-arch
i truely still cant believe ppl actually believe in this crap "fund our MMO!" "Oh our mmo failed, so fund our rpg to help pay for our MMO" "ok heres EVERYTHING we have, part of the rpg nothing for the MMO we took all your money for" how dumb are ppl ?
Everytime I hear Elyria, I ... am simply baffled he is still on it and not disbanding the name entirely
Your last point is 100% why kingdoms of elyria exists. To get them a chance on the lawsuits and avoid refunds...
yay, the early alpha pre release sneak demo preview playable screenshots we were promised, I'm glad I stuck in there.
Hell yeah kingdoms of alpha can't wait... to see all the negative feedback for this terrible mistake of a game
Are they completely mad, for that price you could literally hire 40 people or far more for 5 years to do the game for you, i simply dont get it
I hope Caspian invested the 8 million in iron ore, he could have easily quadrupled his money in 5 yrs. Then give the 8mil back and keep the profits 😉
Thanks for the videos. I love Keeping Up With The Caspians!
"while ensuring a positive testing experience" would translate to "not having any points of view expressed from any but the most hardcore of fanboys"
I'm so glad I didn't know anything about this game before coming across your videos. ROFL! I had to subscribe because of your colorful commentary. Tell us how you REALLY feel about this pos game.
I see we r still fighting the EVIL overlord Caspian 🤭
he makes content, I make content, we all win
@@KiraTV1 🤭 yes that is how it is 😊
I thought the swordfight scene was accidentally exactly like the princess bride until they both did flips off the gymnastic bar
I was out there being productive and you release a video. smh
It's releasing on my birthday? GOLLY
Happy birthday for then mate , enjoy your shit cake
@@KiraTV1 hey thanks man, glad I wasn’t even aware Kickstarter existed back then or I might have backed this absolute dumpster fire, now I’m just enjoying the content. I’m hoping for a great bday gift once everyone and their mum breaks NDA on release day and you put out a video about the whole shitstorm💪
It amazes me how delusional the fanboys can be. Maybe they're just overly positive or optimistic, and that's their personality. I wish them luck through life if they're that gullible.
Calling them fanboys is generous considering there's no actual game for them to be fans of. I think calling them cult members is more accurate.
Kingdoms of Elyria looks IDENTICAL to Life is Feudal: Forest Village
Oh no, if I leak video of the game/break the NDA I'll be banned from this game and most likely anyother game from this company in the future... Oh woe is me... what will I do....
Kira highlights:
- tumble down rabbit hole/fall on used needles and human feces.
- must be smoking the crack rock to believe that inviting more users to test would somehow make it a worse experience
- pay more than 200 bucks and get hooked up to the main sewage IV.
Made my day again with the Chronices of Caspian the Crowd funded Crier.
Dumpster Fire. 🔥
i swear to god...i don't laugh out loud when watching youtube videos alone very often, but jesus christ....describing this trash as, "ordering a pizza and having someone show up with a loaf of bread soaked in piss..." fuck, did that one get me. lol absolute gold in your writing.
thanks for another gem.
My pleasure mate@
He has to give access to just the Alpha 1 backers first because of basically the "Contract" associated with that access - they will get access before anyone else.
I'll take all the coverage of this that you can provide.
Kind of the modern day soap opera at this point. Gotta tune in to see what happens next lol.
Bro, you were on fire this video! SO many good quotes! xD
You are the chronicler of Elyria by now Kira. Caspian is definitely the court jester.
