    When I used to hire people that made a living with tools, the first thing I would do is ask to see how they stored their equipment. If it was organized and showed that they cared for the tools with which they made their living, I would continue with the interview. If not I wouldn't waste my time.
    Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you in that you will be able to do a good job and hopefully make a good living.
    Informative video 👍

      100% right i have had my fair share of talented people work for me that did not last very long because they were their own worst enemy with bad work ethics, sloppiness etc. When i walk into any shop and see it upside down i question the quality of service they put out and this goes for any type of service business.

    Love your organizing! I also have the label maker & use it for so many things like items for sewing, scrapbooking, school stuff , kitchen stuff, my office at home. I get so much use out of this, I should carry it around in my cleaning apron! You are right on here! Thank you for giving me ideas for labeling other stuff.

    One word buddy.......................WOW. Those container ideas are fantastic. Fortunately I have a Container Store fairly local to my location so I will definitely be making a trip there and doing something similar to this. I have the larger "bins" which I keep everything in, but I like your idea, especially the round containers for all the polishing pads and keeping them both organized and isolated from other pads. Great idea here.

    For those people who don’t have a container store near them, it might be helpful to list the container size. All the containers on the site can be ordered in small, large and round shapes with different oz sizes in each group.
    Thanks for the videos.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 років тому

      Mike the reason i did not post is when you buy these they have a white part number and SKU sticker which i immediately removed, the numbers cast into the containers will not pull up in the search que on the Container Store website i tried that after I shot this video which means the Container Store must have their own unique inventory system for this stuff. I am sure someone will post the SKU soon in the comments.

    Could you make a video on your thoughts about PH neutral soaps. I’ve seen several videos of people saying they don’t remove oils, fluids, etc that stick to your paint which means washing and waxing is not protecting. If you use a high PH soap to remove the contaminates you remove the wax. Confused.

    I'm pretty organized, but I don't go this far, 2 totes and a lot of gallon zip locks. One night I priced out and calculated the cost just in chemicals and pads/towels etc, the price came out to $1800. My kit, $350. I'm not spending $1800, you guys are crazy, I still get great results.

    Someone said on my winter damage vid that if you see it, you'll come to my house with detailing equipment. Lol. How do you avoid salt/ rock chip damage on your rear quarter panels? Mine got literally destroyed so far this winter and you and i drive the same roads. 😐

    • @autofanaticcars

      Hey cant avoid those damages unless you get the custom front splash guards i have up front that helps a ton, your going to get chips no matter what but they are easy to fix. maybe when it warms up il do it for you for a video if i have time one day.

    They don't appear to sell the larger rectangular one, where you keep your glass towels, That's the one I was looking to get for my drying towel but I've been to 2 stores now and neither have them nor are they on the website. I believe they are the 3.2L model and I don't think the other taller but not as deep/wide will work so well for more than 1 towel but maybe!

    i try my best to keep things as organized as possible but i have to admit that after a detail/wash i dont want to store anything because they are still moist or dirty and have to be cleaned or whatever. just dont want to contaminate new pads/towels with used ones

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 років тому +2

      thats why i have used towel bins as well just to keep them all in one spot prior to washing or changing duty, i hand dry most and my pads sit on flat rack to air dry after i wash them before putting back in the bins. you never want to air seal a towel or pad wet it will smell funky real quick next time you go use it.

    Typically how many pads per step do you use for compounding or polishing?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 років тому

      it really depends on the car, on a well maintained car i usually use 4-6 pads on a bad car that needs serious correction maybe double

    Which da polisher better, recommend? Is it a rupes or griots garage G15 system?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 років тому +1

      the advantage to the Griots system is you can buy the polisher and all stuff in a kit, you can try it and if you do not like it they will take it back, no other company who sells these items will do that FYI. They are all good brands.

    Aren’t you worried about moisture in the containers for pads/applicators?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 років тому

      i never store them wet always air dry, fold and put away in designated bins. lots of guys throw towels and mitts in a single bucket and it makes it messy and unorganized.

    • @michaelfleming8706
      @michaelfleming8706 5 років тому

      Ya but like wax applicators and pads you don’t really clean and dry. Just leave the old wax on. I feel like even when I think my pads are dry they still have some moisture in them. I’ll have to try it out.

    • @mikeg338
      @mikeg338 3 роки тому

      I know this is old, but for others, I put 3 to 5 holes in mine. I use similar containers. For regular pads I put 2 holes in the sides near the bottom on opposing sides and one hole in the center of the lid, for wax, same thing except 4 holes 2 near bottom 2 mid section on the sides and one in the lid. All holes 1/8th drill bit. That way they breath well without being too exposed.
