Narco-Submarines: These Vessels are Being Used for Smuggling Millions of Dollars Worth of Cocaine

- Well, if you liked the comedy/horror movie “Cocaine Bear” which is loosely inspired by the true story of an American black bear that ingested nearly 75 lb (34 kg) of lost cocaine, get ready for the Cocaine Shark!
Authorities seized 31 narco submarines in 2021, up from 23 in 2019. The crews of some of these boats threw their drug load into the sea. A narco-submarine (also known as a drug sub or narco sub) is a type of custom ocean-going, self-propelled, semi-submersible (sometimes fully-submersible) vessel Colombian cartels use to smuggle drugs. These narco-subs can cost up to two million dollars to build. Despite the costs, some of the craft are intended for one-time use, being abandoned at sea after a successful delivery, given that their cargoes carry a street value of up to$400 million.
Boat engineers and designers, including recruits from Russia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, are paid big bucks by drug lords to oversee mass-production of the subs in factories that are little more than massive sheds hacked out of remote corners of Colombia's jungle. Raw materials are brought in by motorboat from Cali, the cocaine capital of the world. The design of the subs has been tweaked over time to improve hydrodynamics and cocaine capacity.

I did 20 years in the Coast Guard, and had many busts, but never got to see one of these
The owner of Ocean Gate should of hired this guy in red lol
They always show them busting the drugs coming in, but we never really see the insane amount of pallates of cash leaving the country.
Wonder why that is?
Hear me out,,, crypto transactions
@@tacomies Ok. How does that work? Every dealer I've ever met, its cash only, except for one, about 10 years ago, that accepted gold at current market value.
Someone still has to transport truckloads of cash.
If they're not shipping the actual physical cash, where does it all go?
How do you pay for cryptocurrency with cash?
I've seen a coffee table stacked with around $190,000 in cash.
They paid their wholesaler for the next batch of product with that cash. They were just one of several dealers in that small city of 20,000 people.
Their wholesaler was the main supplier for the southwest region of that state.
I'm loosely guessing that person (wholesaler) was moving at least $10 million a year, based on that money I saw, population, available supply, how quickly they turned it over and re upped, and prices at that time.
If you project that dollar amount across the rest of the state, and factor in the much larger cities populations and larger volumes of demand, and quicker turnover rate...
I'm totally guessing here... it's probably at least $100 million a year, not even figuring in all of the other types of drugs.
How do you convert $100 million in cash into cryptocurrency?
Who do you pay that physical cash to in order to turn it into digital money?
Only thing I can think of is max loading lots and lots of cash debit cards at Walmart and using those to buy the crypto.
Please enlighten me.
Just imagine getting chewed by a shark on coke😅
Cocaine shark 🦈 scary

Narco space shuttle Colombia ! Has anyone heard about it ? Tragic story on narco space shuttle Colombia
It’s ridiculous just make it legal even folks inside the White House are consuming that crap .
2,5m for a sub... such small price to pay for the profit that is made if successful
Behold the cocaine-Aliens
2 million for a sub maybe the US Government should hire them 🤔
Love
Drones are now the tech mule the smugglers are using. Submarines are too easy to spot and too big a shipment to risk it. but a 200 dollar DJI drone can carry about 10000x it's value in coke each trip and can do like 30 trips a night.
Thank you for this valuable information. We'll now start using air radars to scan unusual aircraft
Drones are easier to detect
Do they show up well enough on radar?
Drones are everywhere, the area I live in, I see them all the time with their lights disabled somehow.
Serious creeps but people need their good times I guess
@@joewoodchuck3824 on regular radars no on military radar systems yes in ideal conditions
Just legalize coke
Yes. Defund the cartels.
Yes. Designer drugs made from illegalizing more dangerous substances than cocaine and opium kill way more ppl. Actually all substances should be legal to injest. But if u get in a car and kill someone you should get life in prison.
Yes, but then the C I A has less dirty money to spend on weapons and bribery
This is 20 year old news.
😮 too fast for torpedos?
I think I missed my career calling. I should have been one of these "authorities" guys that offloads all of those black bricks of "blow".
1.6 tons per sub. That's plenty enough to spare a bale or 50.
Miss use of the US currency
as a Sri Lankan I'm very proud 😄
😂😂😂😂😂
Self propelled? What?
Basicly that it has its own engine and propulsion system rather than needing something like a tow.
Good job to those who built those submarine/underwater boats. Excellent 👍👍
Did i hear russia? 😅
