Nice demo - I just wish more of these demo videos would play half notes or quarter notes so we can actually HEAR the tone. Sixteenth note runs are cool, yes, but you can't readily hear how this is gonna sound on a ballad, for example.
The entire American Performer series of guitars and basses is excellent. I have the previous American Special Telecaster and it's fantastic. The only thing "entry level" about this series is the price. Kudos.
Hi,i think you should talk about the Stringspacing on the Bridge!!! Sorry i'm abig Fender fan vor 30 years, but the Bridges on Fender Basses are S..t!! Because you are not able to adjustment the Spacing,so that the 4strings have the same distance!..that makes me sad😏 Greetzs🤘👀
You can always change the bridge out to a better one with spacing adjustments. Tons of products out there will accomplish this and many direct replacement (hole matching) that won't break the bank
I would've made this my eventual long-term bass, except 1) Fender priced it $400-$500 over where it should be compared to the slightly superior and WAY more affordable Yamaha BB434, and 2) not enough left-handed body color/maple fretboard options for my taste. Once Fender finally starts rolling back their current prices for the Player/Performer/Professional lines as well as providing more southpaw alternatives for ALL of them, I'll definitely give then another look. Until then, gotta go with Yamaha in the meantime. Sorry, but that's how it is for me. Pray Fender steps up their game for real ASAP because they're steadily becoming a "name-only" enterprise and that will only get you so far in today's business world... >:-)
@@NeoBalkanacMan Yup, and his G&L brand I truly consider the REAL Fender label as of today. Too bad most folks still don't realize a good deal of Leo's best work was under the G&L banner which he himself started and ran up until the end of his life. Amazing build quality you can get at very reasonable prices from them and, unlike Fender-In-Name-Only, they continue to uphold Leo's legacy of cutting-edge developments in the electric guitar/bass world.
I love the sound but I think it would be a difficult task talking about a bass that just stays the same year after year.Like ,it’s got fret markers.Yep most basses do.However I like the sound.
So I went and bought one on impulse and the gap is indeed slightly bigger on the middle strings. It's a great bass, if you you were like me and always had cheaper guitars, do yourself a favour and get one. It so nice to play!

For future reviews, is there any chance you could spend more time on the lowest notes -- the ones that most of us get paid for playing? Thanks.
this bass is worth every penny
Love the color. Just another example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Leo's bass is still killin' it after almost 70 years.

Thanks Steve for an awesome review
One of the best basses out there
Duff called and wants his bass back!
Is the “tone bucket”, like the old “tbx” tone control. TBX was the treble bass expander control.
It’s a new one called “gracebucket” . This cut higher’s without add basses.

$1000 + is entry level?
Entry for US made instruments
And the Grasebucket?? It's my only..
Truss-rod adjustment at the headstock makes me look for MIM and Squier. The truss wheel should be standard on Fender's MIA basses going forward.
The truss-rod adjustment on this bass is located on the body, not the headstock.
moe moe
Looks and SOUNDS very dope. beautiful
how would you compare this to the Yamaha BBP43?
Might be my next lay buy
product specs state this has jumbo frets?
"Crafted in Corona" checks upload date 0_0
did he just say entry level?
Great workhorse sound!
Fender’s Vintage high mass bridge has been around for quite a while ,very cool tho
Except this is not high mass ;-)
vassili87 no it’s not it’s “Vintage” High Mass :)

Even BETTER!
Wish people would play over the pickup they're demoing
If compared with previous model's tone knob, It would be more interesting :)
Ghs medium flatwounds sound great on these, more ole school bassy sound. Just spreading the word.
D'Addario Stainless Steel roundwounds also sound great on this bass. Just spreading another word.

Hail Water!
Nice bass. I don’t really like the logo. The precision sign is too big.
I want this but just a p bass
Same design, But now you can't tell the difference between a $7500 Master Built and a $500 Mexican!!

Hope it doesn't come with the same bad fretwork as the Player's!

That bass a PJ..string spacing D an G not good. The bridge is not all that looks cheap.
ALDER BODY ?
Yep and maple neck if im not mistaken

7 mins review and no slap sound?
That's a PJ..... Not a P...... There is a bridge pick up.... complete different tone for that reason...... Premier guitar.....
Fender calls it the American Performer Precision. Sorry.
That's strange. Thanks
Is the tone really different though? If you just roll off the volume to the bridge pickup, would it not sound like a traditional Pbass ?
