- Rajeev Bakshi, MD, Metro Cash & Carry and IIMB alumnus, delivers the first PN Thirunarayana Memorial Lecture on December 19, 2013 Indian Institute of Management (IIMB) hosted the first PN Thirunarayana Memorial Lecture. Mr.Rajeev Bakshi, Managing Director, Metro Cash & Carry and alumnus of IIMB (PGP '79), spoke on 'Thiru forever: My Experiences with Marketing for 3 decades'.
The lecture is an initiative to keep Professor Thirunarayana's memory alive and also learn from the best marketing professionals of the world Mr. Bakshi also released a memoir 'Thiru: A Life Beyond Compare' complied by Mr. Sumit Chowdhury, also an alumnus of IIMB along with Hemanth Gorur and Sulekha.
Really appreciate IIM initiative in taking the business education to every common citizens and students of india !!!
This was delivered 7 years back and still relevant and fresh. Kudos to the IIMB Alumni who just are like great Wine and taste good with age :)

After Liberisation, the Banks, especially HDFC and ICICI started giving loans to people who were doing Businesses in fields not related to Agriculture, Doctors, and Architects. People who had a healthy IT Returns (for last three years) also getting loans. These loans were used for buying Cars, Two wheeler bikes, etc.The sales went up and the production capacities of those manufacturers went up, so and so forth.

See how the commercials of the older times used songs(melodious) to connect with people. Today's ads are kind of mechanical and hence not able to connect to people immotionally.

Dear IIM, please provide a collar mike to the speaker, audio quality is rubbish.
I wonder what the speaker wants to drive in to listeners, just because the audience are students of perennial learners. Metro is. Yet to make inroads . Adress the marketing fiascos also. Having grown through Biyanis , Damania are truly indian MNC s.

There is nothing inspiring about this. We feel so sad for our elders. They had been slaving for foreign MNCs yet couldn’t create a good domestic company until our new generation came to effect. It’s good to be bad- may be only for their kids and family. Everything, he says nothing to do with Bharat. It’s all neharuvadi and ivory tower slavery mindset. However, we don’t have anything against him, or people who worked hard but please don’t teach how to be Indian! This is appalling that we didn’t have visionary leaders even in private sectors. These all had been the ardent believer of babuism and managerism- means they follow, run and manage others businesses but never create!!
