    If you haven't watched this video, you don't know what you're missing. Great techniques to improve anyone's skills, thereby improving one's work. Sometimes I set the speed for a slower mode, and thoroughly enjoy watching the process... learning as I paint along. This instructor has MAD skills that I don't mind taking the time to learn because, seriously, it's worth it. But don't Just take my word - see for yourself. Great stuff. Thanks. ❤❤❤🎨

      In the silver poppies video he's wearing a light blue leisure suit which shows how confident he is in his neatness.

      Grab those brushes Margo, I just grabbed mine out of storage. Turned 40 this year and to fight the sadness of life passing I have found Bill Alexander’s videos! Just found Lowell Speers here and I gotta say I respect the dude for being able to keep the oil paint off his clothes!!

      Google, or go to Alexander art website. Link in vid description.

      In this type of painting, called wet on wet, you start with a base coat that you don't let dry and paint on top of it. For painting from white they use magic white, or on top of black they have a clear mix like varnish. In both methods you are using white to mix colors on canvas. Usually with clear on black you will add translucent colors that hide well in the black, and when you touch them with white they bust out in crazy bright fashion. Good luck 🙏

      It's a product of Alexander Art company, and is the base wet coat on Nowell's canvas here. See Bill Alexander use it when you watch any other videos on this channel. Bill resurrected the wet on wet painting technique in his career. Watch Bill put it on a few times to see how it's properly applied. See Diane Andre (this channel) use two different colors for this base coat, and she nearly always shows you how to test your application because too much is too much, it goes on thoroughly but as thin as possible too. Bill and Diane also use their knives quite a bit (Bill's knife design) whereas Nowell here rarely uses his knife (except as a paint measuring/mixing tool on the palette).

      You can make your own magic white by mixing an oil (linseed is the most common) with a white paint (titanium white is another common paint) and use the oil to thin the paint to the consistency of a primer paint you'd use when painting a room :)

    • @gabrielnegron179
      @gabrielnegron179 3 роки тому +1

      Magic white can be made with a medium preferably linseed oil and titanium white [acrylic paint] you mix that till it gets to a liquidy or creamy substance and walla magic white 🎨
