    "TIMESTAMPS"
    0:07 - 1. Belted Notes
    3:10 - 2. Low Notes
    3:56 - 3. Head Voice
    5:19 - 5. Agility
    5:55 - 6. Breath Management

    7:36 - 8. Vocal Effects
    7:51 - 9. (Lack of) Vocal Issues
    7:57 - 10. Consistency/Longevity
    1. Belted Notes
    For a note to be considered Golden, it must be consistently "perfect" in the vocalists' range. They must be able to sustain it with resonance, and be able to sing it with resonance on a very consistent basis.
    Golden: 3.0 points
    Ringing inconsistent/consistently grounded: 2.5
    Grounded inconsistent: 2
    Free consistent: 1.75
    Inconsistently free: 1
    Tense: .5
    Underbelts are notes that are ringing under the vocalists' starting note, and as Lara is a soprano that means notes under G4. They can either earn 1 point for inconsistent resonance, or 1.5 for consistent.
    2. Low Notes
    Golden: 2.0
    Full Fairly Consistently: 1.75
    Inconsistently full: 1.25
    Inconsistently free: 0.75
    Tense/Airy: 0.25
    3. Head Voice
    Golden: 2.0
    Inconsistently Resonant or consistently grounded 1.75
    Inconsistently grounded 1.25
    Inconsistently free 0.75
    Tense 0.25
    7. Vocal Control:
    Here is Stamina explained!
    1/4: First Song vs Last Song: This point is earned if the vocalist is able to sing the last song in their concert just as well as the first.
    2/4: First Show vs Last Show: This point is earned if the vocalist is able to perform their last show in a tour to the same height as their first.
    3/4: This point is earned if the vocalist did not rely on lipsyncing to perform their more challenging songs.
    4/4: This point is earned if the vocalist consistently adds ad-libs that are not in the studio versions of their songs to their live performances.
    8. Vocal Effects:
    For each skill that the vocalist is capable of, they earn a point. If they are a master of this skill, they earn two points.
    9. (Lack of) Vocal Issues: Here, if the vocalist has any major issues, they are deducted a varying amount of points from the ten given in this category.
    10. Consistency/Longevity: If the vocalist has struggled with consistency in the past or has drastically declined from their prime, they will have points deducted in this category from 5.

    *Updates: *
    1. Lara has a fully grounded G3, found ua-cam.com/video/QroC4Ci7dz4/v-deo.html here. This changes her G3 to inconsistently grounded, changing her score in lows from 6 to 6.5 and overall score from 110.75 to *111.25.*
    2. Lara has a free F#3 found by DiegoSanta, but I don't have a link. This changes her F#3 to inconsistently free, making her score in lows go from 6.5 to 7, and her overall score from 111.25 to 111.75.

      with all due respect I owe you I'm sorry but lara fabian's D5 here I love it because she hits it with a lot of chest voice, but we hear a tension it's tense, she's forcing, we can see here she's at her limit .... she was young here, this is the only D5 I think where we see her singing a D5 with a lot of chest

    Her "Je suis malade" and "Adagio" are the best performances I've ever heard as they touch me right in the heart and soul as no female interpration has ever done so before, although a few came very close indeed. I can say the same for Dimash Kudaibergen and his best performances, so, in that respect, for me Lara and Dimash are the best vocalists I've ever listened to, and I've listened to so many of them, in practically every genre possible, from all over the world!

    Very good analysis. Most of the held belted notes from G#4 to F5 are pleasant to listen to, they have power and resonance, and they do ring. At 2:03, there sounds like there is some reverb to her voice, maybe it is just the echo from the acoustics of the room, but the sound approaching the Eb5 and on the note is striking. The same with the notes around F5 at 2:30. How does she produce the notes? It is unusual for a human being to sound like that, it is stratospheric. These notes really stand out from the rest. She is not just touching the notes briefly, but sustaining the notes, with a few notes surrounding them.

    Lol Lara is able to control her mix ratio consistently, she's so versatile that she mastered both belting and mixing. There are many examples of her upper belting on the fifth octave especially in En toute Intimité era where she spitted loads of F#5s carrying her chest voice up there. Also, the G5 in this video was constricted. And why is she consistent on C6? Bb5/B5 would be a better option.

It's literally almost impossible for just any singer out there to outsing Mariah during her Daydream based on resonance. But Mariah's undubbed Make It Happen in MSG is the MOST RESONANT performance I've heard, if I make sense.

    I liked new edition of CVSS! Although I do have some things I'd like for you to change though:
    1)I don't consider "resonance/resonant" section as being valuable in such videos, much more important is core/coreless or tensed/free sound overall, what everybody's hearing as resonance might be (and probably is) related to sound engineering features (mic artefacts, amplification of the room, reverb, in some cases even auto-tune etc etc), it simply has no relation to a vocalist in majority of cases, sure, vocalist is producing a sound initially but what we're hearing is so so far from the original, it has no point in analysis in my opinion
    2)Some of the notes here aren't even consistent for Lara at all, this G5 isn't that free for me, and overall starting from F5 it's obvious those notes requires quite a bit of an effort for Lara
    3)Her problem seems to be with how "muffled" she can sound, especially recently as she aged, I'm not sure what kind of technique (or lack thereof) it is but for me it sounds like a rather negative feature about her voice rather than positive one, maybe a usage of a healthy twang would help
    4)Aren't "chesty/balanced/heady" belts a myth? What people are hearing is rather a dense belt or more of a "curby" one, even though as a descriptive thing it could work but still, I think it's rather producing further misconceptions about vocals technique which are already plenty
    5)As I already stated, Lara faced quite a bit of issues with being consistent past like 2000, it's just not that widespread but believe me, her level isn't even near one showed in this video

    • @hornerinf
      @hornerinf 2 роки тому +6

      I disagree with all of your points. Lara is known as one of the best and most skilled vocalists on earth. But you can't do an analysys of emotional impact either. Lara can make people cry with her voice. That says more than almost any other criteria. Can you name many others who can do that?

    • @lightning0506
      @lightning0506 2 роки тому +5

      @@hornerinf Emotions are extremely subjective and almost always aren't even related to other person as well, it's mostly related to YOUR feelings and YOUR inner stimulation, hence I don't discuss emotional impact. Never. It just doesn't make any sense when relating to vocal technique
      Also, just for future discussions, if you say that you disagree - kindly provide an argument why are you disagreeing, cause from what I see - it's just pure emotional-based reaction = bias = lack of logic = pointless comment.
      Also, considering what I've said, it may sound like I don't like Lara, it's not true, I do and pretty much listen to her very often, listened to her entire discography, listened to tons of live performances, including rare ones, I'm very well aware of Lara and her voice/music, her personality and music is out of discussion here though, I do understand human beings are emotional creatures but, as I stated earlier, emotions are pointless when discussing vocal technique (and you're under vocal technique video, btw, not emotional impact Lara brings, not music definition etc etc)

    • @CamdenE
      @CamdenE  2 роки тому +5

      Hey! I’ll respond to these one at a time cuz I’m on my phone and I can’t read all at once lol
      But 1. I actually gotta say I like counting ring as important. I do think that your perspective is true for healthy singing, but this system is more about a preferred sound than technique and I honestly don’t want to change that but I truly do appreciate your input

    • @CamdenE
      @CamdenE  2 роки тому +6

      As for her G5, it’s still got that sound I’m looking for and it is sustained, so that’s why it’s counted as golden. Also all the notes from broken vow are ringing as well :)

    • @CamdenE
      @CamdenE  2 роки тому +7

      I get that she can sound muffled at times but I think it’s more of a stylistic choice considering the insane amount of projection she has at other times.

    an IMPORTANT detail, I don't understand why you didn't put celine dion's eb5 "al by myself" .. because yes yes ....... they are not gold note, that is obvious .. but they are good when even ... and next to that you put the eb5 of lara fabian which are however almost identical ... lol looked at that and understand:

    Lara Fabian is the best female singer in the world but Dimash is the best singer ever in the planet.

      Lara immediately heard Dimash, contacted him and congratulated him on his birthday, he was only 23 years old then. In 2019, they sang together in Moscow. Later she wrote the words for the song Your Love, which Igor Krutoy composed for Dimash. She is not only a wonderful singer, but also a very generous person.

    VERY GOOD JOB BUT you noticed here that all of lara's notes are on A .... notes bb4 /B4/c5/C#5/D5 ...the D5 is tense I find it quite strong we see it is not in its normal range of chest voice too.......with all due respect I owe you I'm sorry but lara fabian's D5 here I love it because she hits it with a lot of chest voice, but we hear a tension it's tense, she's forcing, we can see here she's at her limit .... she was young here, this is the only D5 I think where we see her singing a D5 with a lot of chest
