I really appreciate the fact that you express the lack of knowledge of the mpc and showing that you're still learning and just being you, that's real af. Thank you for this!
I like how you're showing the whole process, mistakes and all. I think it's great for those of us just starting out to be shown that there's a learning curve with every new aspect of music production you choose to learn, regardless of how seasoned you are.
I just got mine the other day and i'm in loveeee, i love the work flow of the mpc live, arranging is actually super easy, i used to export and arrange in logic when i worked in maschine but in the mpc once you get in the routine of copying your sequences it's so much easier than exporting and moving to another daw to arrange and finish the song, also pitching up sounds and distorting your samples is pretty easy once you get your head around the software and knowing your way around the hardware shortcuts. I can't wait to see you do more videos with yours, super inspiring, i love watching you create. x
Thank the lord I saw this comment I think I’m gonna switch from maschine to mpc. I learned the workflow of maschine but I felt like it wasn’t as smooth as others so from what I’ve been hearing I’m gonna try the akai n see how it goes
@@masikask1 thanks, I think you’ll love it, I will say I still use my maschine from time to time just because the native instruments expansions are dope and converting them to Mpc doesn’t always work well, the converted expansions work better in the mpc desktop software when you’re in controller mode as you’re actually able to preview the kits there. Unlike when you just try to open them in the hardware mode. Overall tho I think mpc has a much better work flow and something about their drums just hits different. But overall mpc is way better for hip hop & R&b in my opinion, I’ve barely looked back since switching. 💕
@@PlatinumGalOfficial yeah I don’t think I can get rid of my Mk3 cause the libraries are definitely fun, but like you said mpc is way better for hip-hop & rnb, whereas I felt like the more I used the mk3 the more I realized it would be better for electronic/edm type stuff. Btw I checked out some do your videos you have a beautiful voice!
@@masikask1 aw thank you so much 💕 & I totally agree with you there, the maschine is definitely better for more electronic genres, it’s got some great elements so it’s fun to have but the mpc is way better for the more urban style genres, the maschine just can’t compete with it. 💕👌
if you know the sample bpm, from the main window click warp, it’ll take you to the sample edit screen, select the pad and click warp on that screen. leave it set to 100% and set the bpm to whatever the sample bpm is and itll warp it to match your project bpm. If you select ‘all pads’ at the top of the screen itll warp all of the pads in the program. Hope that makes sense im not in front of it at the moment
Hey if you could answer my question id really appreciate it, is there a similar "all pads" option when pitch shifting a sample? To apply the pitch shift to the whole program? Eg to tune a whole drum kit at once. Thanks again for sharing the knowledge! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@victoriaa2281 Yea for sure..so once you load the sample into a program, go to program edit and on the main screen for prog edit there is a semi and fine tune on the left of the screen that should say master. That will pitch the whole sample. Another way i found is before you chop your sample, from the sample edit screen, select process, scroll over to pitch and adjust it there before chopping, the benefit to this method is it’s only changing the sample pitch and not the bpm. so itll keep the original sample bpm but give you that pitched up/down vibe you’re looking for.
@@fade2blak91 Thanks again for taking the time to answer! It sounds so simple and obvious after reading it but not always apparent when you're just starting out. Much appreciated! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I didn't need it. I just got it cause it cool and beautiful..🤣🤣 only us producers understand such feeling. It feels good to have all that. Nice beat you created . Keep it up brother.
The level of control we now have gives me so much more appreciation for the 90s producers working on that primitive ass gear and still making pure heat
Lovely to see you on the mpc bro. Few tips and tricks if you care to listen 🙏 When chopping samples press shift and turn on 0 snap Play with the filter in the program edit as they are really nice Use 16 levels when punching in kicks/hihats for that humanised feel Avoid warping it will add random artifacts Mpc has its own side chain called mother ducker Some good YT channels for tutorials on the new mpcs are Marlow digs, fickus beats and tube digga Hope these will help you ❤️
There is a way to use your mpc live with ableton like a controller It's a plug In that allows you to use the mpc daw in the ableton Daw it's pretty cool and works great. I love this video you are exactly where I am with the mpc and whole ableton workflow .
Quick random question for anyone who owns an MPC LIVE. I am considering getting one soon the only issue that’s holding me back on my decision is I’ve only used DAWs (FL Studio, Ableton) & my concerns are is the Akai software in the live pretty hard to get used to or easy to actually catch on to? I don’t mind learning the new software my only fear is purchasing the item & having it collect dust because I never got used to it or it’s tricky to catch on
Filtering of samples can be done in "program edit". No need to load that filter plugin 😎. Did you change your drum sounds into mono later on. No need for a kick to be stereo e.g. Creates space in the whole arrangement. That RC20 automation was nice, sounded kinda like SP404 FX. I like that 🔥
To warp properly you need to go into edit samples, hit trim then press the process button (bottom left of screen beside assign) & scroll down until you see the time stretch option. Time stretch wont show up in the menu unless you hit trim before you hit process, it's annoying and confuses people.😎👍
Pretty Dope, extra nice video as usual, i was always on the verge to get one, then i was like its exactly all what i do with my ipad when im out of the studio
Hey man 2:00 just incase you don’t know you can use the knob at the top right of the screen after pressing the pad to dial in exactly where you want the chop to start !
I like the process you showed, I think it’s fine to use the MPC to hammer out an idea then fine tune it in a DAW. Not to take anything away from the MPC specially after the new update. But at the end of the day the MPC is a tool to help you create. Anyway, nice beat.
That's the workflow I use but with MPC Beats (cuz I can't afford the one or live yet) The MPC lets you get the loop and beat hands on (fun) and then work that sukka to death in the DAW.
Also I don't know if any body noted but under sample edit there is different sampling types ranging from manual (what you used), bpm sampling , region, and threshold sampling
If you're an Ableton Push 2 user then basically the only thing that the MPC Live 2 adds to the table is its mobility, which is definitely cool. With Push 2 though you can do all the lazy chopping that the MPC can do and then some. And unless you're a seasoned MPC head, the Ableton workflow is just way more intuitive and superior, especially beyond the loop creation stage. It has a superior sound engine too when it comes to stretching and warping.
Yeah like I said at the end the thing about the mpc is the portability and the feel. Not even just for outdoor stuff but even just chilling on the couch
@@LDreTheGiant Not gonna lie, that alone would be enough reason for me to get an MPC Live 2. In the end, the reason I got the Push 2, to begin with, wasn't so much for its Ableton's workflow improvements but to generally bring more fun into the process of music-making. Which has been key I guess to the success of hardware groove boxes like MPC and Maschine series. Still though, I believe the sweet spot between tactile fun vs functionality + workflow in music-making can be found in hybrid setups. And for that, The Ableton + Push 2 combination is hard to beat IMO.
