  • With his new album "Everything's Beautiful" dropping on Friday, Robert Glasper joins Sway in the Morning. Following his work scoring the new Miles Davis doc starring and directed by Don Cheadle titled "Miles Ahead," Glasper opens up about his relationships with some of music's finest.
    From going to school with Bilal to staying with J Dilla in Detroit and playing with The Roots, Glasper's musical influence runs incredibly deep.
    Speaking on being a classically trained musician he opens up about how being trained is the key to get more work right away, you need to play in the settings of certain genre's to get familiar with the work. Dipping his hand in the hip hop pot Glasper worked on 8 songs on "To Pimp A Butterfly."
    Before ending this incredible interview he makes SITM history by playing keys over the 5 Fingers Of Death, improvising sweet melodies for the whole crew.

    How wonderful of you to discuss Miles Davis. Today, May 26th 2016 is the 90th anniversary of his birth. Please check out my youtube channel honoring Miles Davis and other great African-American artists like Robert Johnson, “King of the Delta blues singers”; Ernest Hogan, “Father of ragtime”; James Brown, “Godfather of soul” and Patti LaBelle, "Godmother of Soul" - all born in the month of May.

    No disrespect to Bey, but I saw Robert do that show where Bey came up and tried improv. She fell pretty flat. I know if Solange had gotten up there to improv with Rob on keys, there'd have been magic on that stage.

  • @carltonwhite9682
    @carltonwhite9682 8 років тому

    Comments like Robert needs more pub miss the point. Glasper makes real music for real people. The mainstream will never cop to that. You gotta be polished yourself to handle The RG experiment. How many people will go see "Miles Ahead?" There will always be a disconnect between what is most popular and what is intellectually intriguing. Glasper's credentials and resume are the most heralded of his generation.
