Hey! I just wanted to let you know I'm a single father of five, four of whom live with me. I use this recipe all the time. It's quick, easy and my kids love it! Thanks for putting it out there.
Thank you so much for coming back and sharing that! We really appreciate it and we are thrilled that it works for your family.
For Absolutely the BEST fall apart, Juicy, Delicious stew or pot roast, my butcher of 55 years had told me the Best cut of beef fir those type of dishes is Shoulder. Its like the poor man's filet mignon!! Fantastic for braising!! Enjoy!!😉
Damn, I almost bought the shoulder but got a choice tender chuck instead. Looks like we're eating lots of roast this week so I can figure out which cut I like better 😂
This is a great recipe! Potatoes are not "optional" for us lol, however, we like to leave out the celery.
Thank you!! I'm going to get that next time!🥰
Great recipe!
After dinner, I poured the leftover stock and vegetables into a blender and made a puree. Then, I added the leftover roast and some frozen peas and had an amazing soup for the next few days!
Wonderful!
Thank you for showing me how you did all the steps.
The way you put the final pot full together was pretty cool with the herbs & potatoes.
I'll give this a try here soon.

Mine is in the Instapot right now!!! I’m a newlywed cooking a new dish for company for the first time 😅 thank you for such a simple and easy recipe to follow! I didn’t have any apple cider vinegar, so I mixed a bit of applesauce with white vinegar. Let’s see how it turns out!!!
Hope you like it!
@@inspiredtaste It turned out fantastic!!! The roast fell apart as I pulled it out of the instant pot (: Roaring success! Thank you for this easy recipe that I can do anytime!
I love to cook and have cooked constantly for decades 1000’s of things and never thought of substituting applesauce with vinegar when out of apple cider granted not the same like for like flavor replacement but still a fantastic hack! Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful!
Going back to my old crock pot.
Thanks for making simple.
You are welcome!
I made this recipe over the weekend and my family loved it! Usually we have small portions but everyone went for seconds and ate way more than I expected! I cooked 3.2lb of beef for 62 min + 15 min natural release. I made a couple of substitutions based on what I had in the kitchen: I used 1 tbsp of Better than Bouillon + 3.5 cups of water instead of beef stock, white vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar, dried parsley instead of thyme and rosemary. I also skipped the celery and doubled the onions and bay leaves to better suit my family's palate. The onion added a WONDERFUL sweetness to the broth-- I was so worried that this would've been too salty for us but it turned out perfect! My pot was nearly full by the time I added the onions so I definitely wouldn't have been able to steam the potatoes at the same time. That was fine though, because I planned to make mashed potatoes separately anyway. :) Next time I'll prepare some broccoli as well. Thanks so much for the recipe!
Oh my goodness that's amazing! We love hearing feed back you are so welcome. If you have a min to share this feedback on the review section on our website to inspire others. We would appreciate it.

Worked great in my instapot. First time trying it out. Doing a lot more home cooking these days.
OMG that looks soooo delicious, I will deff be trying it next week!! Why don't you eat the veggies tho?
You absolutely can but we personally think the veggies have given all of their love to the meat and the broth 😀
Good.
💛 💙 💛
🤤
Looks delicious! My question is how long do you pressure cook the roast? I could understand the time. This will be tomorrow’s meal
It’s only a 3 minute video and she said at 2:40 pressure cook on high for 60 minutes, let it sit for 10 and than release the pressure.
What does the vinegar do to it ?
It helps in tenderizing the meat.
👍 👌 ♥ 🍲
How often you release pressure? Within that 60 minutes
Can you link to your gravy recipe you mentioned at the end? I can find it in your videos thanks!
Here you go: www.inspiredtaste.net/36231/easy-gravy-recipe/

You can substitute the vinegar with a whole lemon, just deseed l.
This looks like it will be so BOMB with rice…must be the island girl in me lol
😉 Can never go wrong with rice
Aloha it's so fun knee that we all do almost the same kind of recipe but might add things differently like say thicker broth or add other kinds of seasoning, I dont see you adding butter to yer mix by adding butter you will see the difference in taste I use lots of butter smile, I alway use butter in my cooking I have no secrets I'm not a chef but love tooooooo cook and bake its a good hobby, even gardening good for the body wen u retire 71 young gotta keep moving once u stop well thats all folks as bugs bunny would say,,, we use a instant pot pressure cooker and came wit airfryer and this is the next best thing to sex smile, well mahalo for yer time in preparing the awesome vid have a super year
What’s the apple cider vinegar do?
Came home after a 11 hr construction job, I was tired so I stoped off at butcher picked up a beautiful roast 3lbs , rinsed it and put in instapot with veggies added a cup of water and McCormick pot roast seasonings, set instapot at 1 hr once done I will remove veggies and add cornstarch slurry to juices. Hope it turns out and I don’t fall asleep waiting for dinner to be done lol
Interesting fact: The potatoes will be mushy afterwards... but if you refrigerate them overnight, they firm back up nice and proper! Cant say the same about the carrots though.
Which button to cook the roast on though?
I use Custom... Yours might say Pressure Cook.
Can I make this without having to cook the vegetables in the pit because I wanted to just make the roast and gravy over some mashed potatoes and corn or carrots
I want to do this with a Venison Shoulder. But I can't imagine cooking those potatoes under pressure for 60 minutes. Won't they turn to mush?
🤪😜❤🇵🇰
For how long do you cook it for?
Check the recipe on inspiredtaste.net for all the info and tips
Every single time it says foodburn if I use the saute part it won't cook ahhhhh help I add lots juice I scrap bottom idk of mines defective or what
Wish I could see the settings used
This may be a silly question, but do the carrots and celery get thrown out?
Yes, we throw them out because they have given most of their flavor to the pot roast but you can eat them if you would like.
If I use a smaller amount of meat, do I need to use a smaller amount of time?
The cook time is based on weight. In general, assume 20 minutes of cook time for every pound of meat.
Is it possible to skip the onion and garlic powder?
yes, but they add flavor.
@@inspiredtaste I made it with out. It turned out tender and juice. But next time, I will add these two ingredients also to try the difference.
Can you use baby carrots?
No. Only their parents.
Of course
😂
@@FromQnz2King to late😅
How the heck do you stop the potatoes coming out mushy? Have tried this recipe two separate times and both times the potatoes and carrots came out mushy and disintegrating.
I am first
Where’d the carrots go?
Won’t the veggies turn to mush ?
We keep the potatoes, but usually remove the celery and sometimes the carrots. They are really only in there for flavor. We talk about this more in the recipe on Inspired Taste: www.inspiredtaste.net/41089/pressure-cooker-pot-roast/
Searing the meat with all those spices and seasonings on it is a bad idea. You’re just burning the seasonings and not really getting much browning on the meat.
Dry it off, sprinkle with large grain salt and let sit. Come back and pay it dry again before adding it to a hot pan or instapot. Make sure your oil is hot too.
Then add the seasonings once you put the holy trinity in after removing the roast after searing. Once your liquids are back in then add the roast and let it all go.
60 minutes?? I think that's way too much time. The veggies would be mush. 30 minutes tops.
I could be wrong. ;)
Wouldn't the meat be undercooked in just 30 minutes?
Potatoes are not optional they are required 🤪
Hope it’s okay I leave the leaves out and stuff. Not a fan of the flavor it gives off
What happened to the rest of the vegetables lol???
They are there for flavor -- you can serve them, they will just be pretty soft. Some of our readers blend the onions/celery/carrots and add to the broth or save for a soup another day.
I wont be trying this recipe
No worries. We have so many others you can try. 😄
Only thing missing is tomato paste and red wine
Instant pot? What type of instant pot is that???
It's the 6-quart model.
