- The rating for the SsangYong Tivoli was first published in 2016. At that time, autonomous emergency braking was sold as an option, as part of a safety pack, and Euro NCAP published two ratings: one with only standard equipment and another with the safety pack. Since February 2018, the content of the safety pack - AEB City, AEB Inter-urban and AEB Pedestrian - has been made standard equipment and the rating has been changed to reflect this change.
Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car impacts a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

Look at the rear passenger at 1:03! Did the belt work normaly? How you can tell about 4 stars after it...
I guess they know what they're doing, afterall the dummies even got tons of sensors to show the force of every impact very detailed. But yeah, certainly doesn't look right.

yep as read ur comment, i saw that video again. and know ur right. the only car has problem. so now than... how can i know that the sit belt in my car doesn't have problem? or doesn't there any method car maker know belt(actually actuator,sensor) problems when they make cars? ;-;..

How on earth can you justify giving it four stars, when a seat belt malfunctions?!
Its a points based system. If there are sufficient points to earn 4 stars, even after deductions for non restraint of occupant and increased loading levels as a result then that's what the rating is.There aren't deductions for seatbelt operations as far as I can remember, just incorrect airbag operation.There would have been less points for increased rear occupant injury and possibly for shoulder belt behavior.
The rear passenger flew on the front seat because the seat belt failed and it gets FOUR stars.
EURONCAP tests Fiat Punto, a ten-year-old car, by today's standards and it gives it ZERO stars for electronic-related reasons and not structural.
So, the most obvious conclusion I can draw is that EURONCAP does not really care for rear passengers, so long as the car is correctly electronically-equipped. Bravo EURONCAP.

I heard that 1:04 seatbelt was NOT engineering problem. It was just that seatbelt part was problem. Normaly it works. (5 star rated Hyundai using the same seatbelt model). SsangYong was just unlucky at theire first NCAP :(

@@Legalpiratee Well, the manufacturer of the seatbelt supplies the same seatbelt to many reputed manufacturers. It is literally the same seatbelt. It does not has anything to do with ssangyong.
@@daakuredpanda5782 so it means that many cars on the road are in danger. It happened because there is a malfunction in design/production. Can you guarantee that it won't be happen to your car?
@@Legalpiratee I get your point my friend and you are right. But, nothing is perfect. We are always in danger. Every year thousands die due to slipping on stairs. Things are improving but machines will fail now and then and if it is not the mistake of the car manufacturer then it should not be unfairly penalized. These NCAP tests do a great job in pushing manufacturers to build the safest cars and contantly improve on it. I think the future is going to be much more safer time.

@@WildlifeBeauty1234 Luckily my Volkswagen Golf doesn´t have failing seatbelts. It´s really "great" that you are supposed to die at the back seat cause your seatbelt can´t manage a crash (which it is made for).

@@vomiri87 I wouldn't be surprised if the pretensioner in a 2019 Golf comes from the same supplier as in the Ssangyong. All manufacturers source from common suppliers to save cost. Also, I suspect SsangYong have increased quality controls for the part and it is even less likely to fail.

The addition of autonoumous braking does NOT influence how the belts work or how this toaster on wheels crushes in a side collision. It should have stayed at a 3 out of 5. This new system of getting a higher rating because you add an electronic feature is bollocks. Who got paid here???
