Nice stream! Quick note as you were a bit annoyed by the keyboard octave shortcut, if you haven't heard yet you can actually turn that back to the old way. In Personalize, you can turn U/D Key Mode to KB Oct and it will change octaves instead of pages when you have the keyboard open. Plus, you can still use the handy up/down shortcuts for navigating pages any time the keyboard isn't open, so best of both worlds really!
Hahaha when you said the digitakt 2 made the syntakt feel dated I thought maybe I shouldn't get one hahaha I love my syntakt and have barely had a chance to make much on it yet and started looking for a og digitakt haha 😆
I've been playing drums for 40 years and have been using DAWs since the first ones came out. But now I want to start from scratch with Dawless and the Elektrons have taken my fancy. But which one to start with? Syntakt or now the new Digitakt 2? After watching countless videos, I'm more unsure than before.
My take: Syntakt is easier to get going because the tracks have their default values and sounds. Digitakt II is more wide open with loading up samples. Can be overwhelming. There are less effects, subpages, etc. with the Syntakt.

Lovely rawkus & raunchy music btw. Do you know if the DT2 can be used as a sound card? And could a powered hub be used with it so you can add usb midi keyboards/etc?? Thanks
@@EZBOT_ I hear you! I really like all the stuff you can do on Korgs. I just sometimes get annoyed at the menu systems. Looks like a lot of knobs on that one though.
@@EZBOT_ Well that's you, but you aren't everyone,.As I said, it depends if you used the midi tracks on DT1. If you maxed them out then there are no extra tracks for you on DT2. @@EZBOT_ At the expense of 8 less midi tracks if you use them . It's not a difficult point. @@ukbloke28 I don't think the majority of users agree with your point. When I spoke with Elektron directly they said 16 audio tracks, that was the big new feature besides stereo.
@@EZBOT_ All samples are converted to 16/48 this is a deal breaker for me the first thing they had to address and they haven't done it drip feeding tech conspiracy.
@@EZBOT_ 5 years ago I had stereo samples and 80 effects with a different effect on every track with the MC-707. And performance effects very much like your Octatrack effects you make known as "scatter." I do like the sequencer on the Digitakt a bit better but it still doesn't play 7/8 timing per page for a Ventian Snares type of feel. For example if you make page 1 have 14 trigs, you can't make page 2 have 14 trigs because when you go to page 2 you have to first lengthen page 1. I could be wrong but give it a try. And on top of that, there is no synth in the Digitakt and there could be a monomachine or something exciting in there. I think what would be cool is a sampler/machinedrum/monomachine thing. That would be an instant buy for me.

Im saving hard for the DT mkii so all the videos you create are most welcome kudos ❤
That track from about 19mins in absolutely rocks. Love it. And great stream as always.
Have to agree.

I realized this at the show! Thanks 🙏
@@EZBOT_ Okay excellent! Hope it was a good show 👍
This is good news
Has a great Richard Davis vibe to it, good job!
Thank you!
Man the digi 2 is a banga, I love how you demonstrated the live, stuff shit I've got a long way to go😂
Great stream Matt! I have an M8 and another M8.2 on the way but man do your OT templates make me want an octatrack (again, ugh…)
whats the sequencer thing on the left with Cirklon style buttons?
Thinking I want a DT2 to go with the M8 Model:2.
yeah man, you're right :)

Hey, were do you get your samples from? You often show finalized tracks. Could you show more of you actual production, that would be so awesome.

Don't. Elektron is for hipster. There is better gear that get the job done and are not over hyped.

What would you prefer?
Personally, I'd say Digitakt 2. It's the most feature packed machine and it can play any style of music.

My favorite La Croix flavor is “Beach Plum” What is yours? Love the vids btw

Good luck!
nice ! i was wondering, is the digitakt 2 able to play a 3 min or more in a track ? or is it still more a drum machine than a sampler ?
Hi mate 🤘 awesome stuff as always. Did you tried Akai MPC workflow? I mean newest, not oldie 2000x samplers
King Korg Neo? How’s that?
I like it! I also like most every synth though haha

'New tracks' depends if you used the midi tracks on DT1 a lot. it's not actually more tracks ...
I don’t consider MIDI tracks and audio tracks the same thing at all. To me it’s 8 new tracks

Yes, I am using the digitakt 2

Man, this channel hurts. I'm constantly guilt tripping when you're in octo mode.
The DN2 arrived ahead of schedule!
Honestly I am not impressed by Digitakt 2 but and Octatrack with upgrades and I will be doing flips.
I am surprised to here this, why?

Eight bars on the Digitakt 2, and you’re only using one, four bars on the Syntakt and you’re using two.
This was the beginning of a song. All of my tracks use 8 bars, I don’t start at 8, I develop small sections at a time.

Digitrack
no internal battery, no polyphony, no looper, no manual slicing, no arp/midi arp. meh ill wait for digitakt 7
