Hey angelus you guys should make a "turtle dove" cream white v2 custom since it has a pulltab and has the white sole, perfect for a turtle doves custom
What happens if you don't heat the paint mixed with 2-soft? Will the paint fall apart? I'm planning on repainting the pleather clothes of my 1/6 figure, but that piece doesn't come off and I'm not comfortable blowing hot air on the figure itself :(
Although Angelus paint can be applied to soles/midsoles of shoes, it is not guaranteed to hold up. Therefore it is not recommended to paint on soles. If done so, be prepared for the paint to chip and crack immediately and often.
Yes you can, but no matter what material you are painting on you either have to prep the shoe properly or add the proper additive. So for example, if you are working on a fabric like mesh or canvas. It is highly suggested to use the 2-soft.
Sorry Melvin but Although Angelus paint can be applied to soles of shoes, it is not guaranteed to hold up. Therefore it is not recommended to paint on soles. The paint seems to chip and crack on that type of material.
@@mrclean1s Sole Bright mixed with a leather or suede dye I believe is what you're thinking of! This does work, however purchasing a liquid dye from CandleChem.com is an easier permanent solution!
I’ve used brushes all the time so I always mixed paint with gac 900 for fabrics and meshes. I started using an airbrush because I hear it saves time. Shouldn’t I mix paint with 2 soft and a thinner before putting it into the airbrush? Or as it shows here he doesn’t add anything else before using the airbrush?
Wally uses our Angelus 2-Soft instead of GAC 900. These are both fabric mediums and are used for the same purpose. Start with a 50/50 mix and if the paint is too thick for the airbrush then add the thinner (Angelus 2-Thin) as needed.
Do you have tips or tutorials for painting a boost midsole like Ultraboost? I was recommended preparer, dye, paint then finish. Someone else recommended an oil based marker before the dye as another step to help with the elastic boost when compressed to never show the white. Painting a white midsole black.
Hi Steve, Yes If you were looking to black out the boost. Use Jet black leather dye then add a couple coats of flat black paint. The finisher is optional. Also, try adding a small drop of duller to the paint. this may help. Sorry we are not too familiar with the oil based marker. It may be something to experiment with and see what works best for your project.
Angelus Shoe Polish Thanks for the tip! I wanted to finish matte so I got the matte acrylic finisher. Guess I’ll see after the last coats of flat black dry. Do I have to use a heat gun or how long can I wait before applying each coat of dye and also paint, letting it dry naturally.
is it okay to clean the shoes after you have painted them or is there some type of finisher you have to apply to stop the paint from running when you want to clean them ?
Yes, its safe to clean the shoes after theyve been painted. Finisher is optional but isnt the end all, be all for the paint to last. Check out this video to learn more. ua-cam.com/video/qGY82LOkAls/v-deo.html
Using a heat gun is required when painting fabrics. We recommend using 2-Soft with the paints and in order for the 2-Soft to activate and set into the fabric, heat setting with a heat gun is an absolute must. It needs to reach 300 degrees F for 3-5 minutes.
I never see anyone wearing a mask when using the 2-soft. Doesn't it contain formaldehyde Which can cause cancer? I'm very curious cuz I am afraid to use it but I never see anyone taking those precautions.
Wouldn't be better to use a dye solution? I have the same shoes in withe but I'm considering using dye, does anyone here have any opinion if that is possible or if that is a good idea at all.
For our dyes, you would need to be able to rinse the item once you dye them. Keep in mind that this video was filmed well before the dip dying of the sneakers came along. I think now we would consider dip dying.
I did the same custom, with brush instead. Didn't come out as smooth as I hoped. Is it possible to somehow remove most of the color and texture to paint over again? My main problem was not using enough softener so it feels a bit stiff

2-Soft will thin the paint a bit and help the paint absorb into the materials a lot better. This will make things a lot easier to paint. Also, 2 Soft will allow the paint adhere and will keep it from fading after time.
