I miss the quick follow up vids where these stones get finished and we get to see them in all their glory! I’d love if those returned. I think a lot of people would.
Agree that was one of my favorite parts
Yes!
I agree.
I agree.
Well said
Sorry I’m late. I’ve become addicted to your videos. It’s like watching someone finding a treasure. Opals have become my favorite gemstone. Tamika reminds me of Jessica Biel. Avery beautiful American actress.

Really enjoy watching! The picture quality was great for me. 💕
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m from Pennsylvania, and I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. I wish it would notify me when you are live, but I haven’t seen any notifications. It’s more than likely it is something on my end. It’s like watching family when I get to see you guys. I love that you are so personable and interactive. We get to laugh with you, hope with you, and share in the frustration when a stone doesn’t work out. The incredible finished products you create are stunning, and the process of getting there is very enjoyable. You also have a very beautiful co-host in Tamica
Mckean County here...I understand the internet in pa. It is nice to see another PA fan.

Lol, I just now watched this video for the 3rd time because the last piece that you took out of the safe , gives me an eye gasm! I'm still trying to find the video of you cutting that last piece 👍👍
Love the show.
Very exciting to see those colors pop and glimmer as you work on the stones. I love the one with cracks that healed. It almost looked like it was framed. Not what you are trying for but I thought it was so interesting. Like a tiny abstract painting.
I loved that one too!
Always enjoy your show!👍
Them rocks are crazy beautiful the one closest in the shot wow
That “naturals” stone at the end was one of the most interesting looking stones I’ve seen on your channel. Before you obliterated it anyway. 😆
Looking forward to the next video!
Oh my gosh , you are making me laugh so hard. I get tears 😂
Jack Fox from Columbus Ohio. Love the videos!!!!!
Fun to watch you work those stones.

@@blackopaldirect I did indeed.
Been with u since the beginning and watch all the videos. Most relaxing channel on UA-cam
Hey-hey. Thanks for the content, fun to watch you going in.
Honestly can’t wait to see the next couple videos
I've been working with Boulder opal and yeah It's a red muddy mess LOL. But it's cheap I just spent $140 USD for 811 carats, I'm hoping to be able to able to buy a nice black opal at some point, I have an Ethiopian opal as well I that I just stabilized and split into four pieces, I'll probably work on this weekend. I'm still grinding my fingers, but I'll take that as a right of passage that will go away when I get better. Tried dopping over the weekend, that is a learning thing on it's own, I either get to much wax or not enough lol. But I'm learning and it's fun. Thank you for the video Justin and I can't wait to learn some more from you.
well, I have a unfortunate update. I won't be cutting opals or gemstones for a while. Got in a car accident and fractured my left hand.
Sorry for missing the live but I was sleeping here. Nice meeting you Justin and Tamika! I'm excited about this video and I love to watch those opals come to life in your hands! Now I will watch the video, take care all at BOD! Hugs from me and my cat Trollet in Sweden.
Thanks for coming
@@blackopaldirect I love opals they are so beautiful and I enjoy to see you cutting them Justin! It brings me joy too when you get a winner! 👋💎👍
UK, but when you're filming your live broadcasts during the day we are in bed, we just catch you later or even a day ot two later if we're busy lol but you're not forgotten
Awesome episode Justin. Can't wait to see those two get cut
exciting times ahead🎉❤
I love the last one. The lines make it look like a tortoise shell.
Thanks
Some great ones in those today. Fingers crossed for that last one you got outta the safe at the end, looks insane. Best of luck mate!!!
So close!
enjoying your videos like AMSR. I was Downunder in 1980 I toured with the Rock group the Police. I bought raw Opals in Melbourne in the hotel gift shop and did amateur cutting wet and dry sand paper and files. no real internet then but got 10 ozs of small rock for 10 bucks and 2 - 5 oz rocks for 20 bucks seems the price has really gone up.I still have a couple of small chips with color bars and my give it a go again. 69 years old and build guitars. Best wishes from the Southwest California, Say hi to the Gold Coast miss Surfer Paradise fell in Love there. Lewy
Great work. I’m a picture framer in the southwest of Ireland. I would love to try opal cutting. Must go to Australia. I have first cousins in Tasmania .
the smalledt dop stick ive even used for opal is small nails and tooth picks. even tiny pollished opal looks fantastic when set into ornaments
Hello love to see your show
Welcome from Peoria Illinois
Hello, from South Carolina
Slips of the tongue, nice really bright opals
I managed to snag another of the beginner parcels(this will be my 3rd one). I hope it's as cool as the first one I bought.
I looked at a couple of the more expensive parcels and I just don't think I have the guts to get one.... yet.
Haha nice I hope so too :-) No guts no glory 😂 Thanks Don
@@blackopaldirect I'll get there
I'm just finishing a lovely little 1/3 carat Cushion cut of crystal clear opal. It's got the barest hints of blue and green, but that's not important, it has the best high dome I've created yet. There's just a small sand inclusion on the side. I am pretty happy. I've just got to polish it. It is the 65th stone I've worked on since beginning 5 months ago.
I have you to thank for this(or is it blame, I'm still working that one out).
I have a couple hundred other stones to work on. Most are really small, but thats good, they'll go faster! Lol. Still, I can always use more stones in the queue. I hope that before a year is up I'll have enough skill and confidence to tackle better rough parcels (and afford to buy them).
I'd like to sell some of the better ones, at a very low price point, to fund the addiction. I'm not interested in making huge profits just yet, I merely would like to generate enough money to keep buying more, and better, parcels. I realize learning a new skill isn't cheap so reducing ongoing costs will be nice and allow me to continue my ordinary opal journey.
love from bethany from New Hampshire, USA
From CHICAGO, another Hello.
I actually really like the gritty look of the lives and the high quality of the production vids...the difference is nice.
NIce feedback Thanks George
It's a good day, I brought my new grandson home today,an now I get Justin and Tamika to finish the day.
Congratulations!
yes thank you ::: )
So would love to find and stuff with opal. Very nice work
Opal creek is 20 miles north east. Of me. Gem quality opan my friend down under
Hi Justin! You talked a bit about treated opal and I was wondering what your thoughts were on lab-grown gemstones in general. I don’t know if it works for opals because of how unique they are, but for diamonds, rubies, sapphires, etc., it seems like a pretty good practice because it avoids gems’ inherent scarcity and the historical destabilization of regions which they’re sourced from. What’s your opinion on the practice?
Yeah when you talk about destabilisation that refers to 3rd world countries and mining. That stuff does happen here in Australia.
Was never out of focus to me. Oklahoma USA. But it is cool that you are so popular that you broke the internet! LOL 😂 prostate!!!!! 😂
that colour of green nice
Justin you should slice the big one on the opposite side that you want to grind from that way you will have a black back on part of the stone.
Hi Justin great video
Which grit wheel were you using for all these stones
240
I just purchases a few opalized fossils out of Australia. A couple of clams and a super nice tooth. All are nice gem grade fossils.
I am currently looking at another tooth that is gem quality as well.
I am still after a pineapple opal and a nice Belemnite opal.
Can't wait to see those big stones being done. With all the innuendo/slippage going on in this live, I'm going to say that I hope that last one lives up to its tease! lol
😂😂
Hello Justin I know it’s after the chat And I’ve been busy now that the warmer weather has started to appear here in Massachusetts USA we’re doing the senior veterans honor flights sending them off to Washington DC for the day to see all the monuments from the war that they were in and that is a long day in the mornings to set up and get them off for the day and I have a large number of American flags flying in the airport itself at the terminal that they leave from
Where would I get a light like that? The one you use for looking into the opal?? I'm in Toowoomba Qld. Cheers Justin
Oh boy a BOD video! Wish I had checked my notifications earlier. Missed you live by 3 hours. Oh well. Thank you for keeping it online for those of us that miss out on the live shows Justin and Tamika! Sounds like a fun one. Lets go in! I will have to look on FB to see if you posted pics from your trip to Lightening Ridge on there. I don't do any other social platforms. Never could really figure out the best way to use Twitter on the old computer here. lol. Makes me feel old too. I've never been to a casino either. I do enjoy watching one of my youtube channel friends do the quarter pushing Elvis machine. I think those look fun. But I'd never gamble my money...I have bought a few lotto tickets, but never won over $5 like one time. I'd so have loved to learn how to work with gem stones and faceting them. Opals I think would have been so out of my talent abilities...and I live in the states. So wouldn't have the access to authentic Lightening Ridge opal. Too old now, so will enjoy watching the pro now!
Oh darn, I thought just maybe we were going to get to see Tamika at the wheel for a bit this time. Soon Tamika?
Hope you enjoyed the video!
One day soon I will take on the wheel Loren..haha. - Tamika
@@blackopaldirect Girl you can do this! And you have the best teacher ever if he will apprentice you. Justin is so fun and so talented...you have the BEST job!
I just now realized that most Opal is the color of money 🤗😁
I’d buy that opal with all the cracks…so much character in that stone
Starting at 10:45 is that a tiny glit of Aussie goodness in the opal mud and silt??? ☺️😍
Greetings from Tassie
Question: When comming to the US for these shows ,how does the Custom Duty effect you if you do have to pay for the duty ?
My mom would say, your giggle box is turned upside down. 😂
Do you ever think we’re a bunch of raccoons just attracted to shiny pretty stuff
They make these little blue pills, my dear… just for that …🤦🏻♀️😂 I’m sorry but you guys are too funny!!! Love it !! Do you sell rough opal? Or should I ask how to purchase rough opal?? Not mass quantities tho.. thanks still laughing!
Haha yes we do blackopaldirect.com/category/rough-opal/rough-opal-parcels/
Wow 2 people from Bakersfield and one from Tehachapi. Im not far from there.
love your show Do you sell rough opals ?
We do sell Rough Opal from time to time, we should have some parcels uploaded onto the website this week - keep an eye out on www.blackopaldirect.com
Is there special treatment in handling opals? Does finger oil dull the opal? Can it be shined right up by wiping away the oil? Will stone absorb the oil and ruin the stone? Thanks
An Aussie opal can take anything. Oil, water, even chemicals
South East Texas
Hey from Pennsylvania
That Vendetta Prospecting fellow won't look at his name the same anymore! 😂😂
Haha me neither
My wife's opal that I got from you was a boulder opal.
What is the difference between treated and natural Opal, and do you tell which is which? Is it distinctly discernible to the untrained eye?
sorry i wasn't there , out getting stuff done and searching for a job😆, and feeling sick for some strange reason ,,,anyway should get over that through the day coz its doesn't feel like a heavey one just kind of annoying coz i don't know why or what it is ...
Hello from florida
Whoooo!
Once again Justin you bedazzle me
Lol I feel that...when talking fails , it's time to stop it lol. Next time you get a name worthy gem ..." Vendetta prostate" ! Especially if it's very red
