Headcorn is a lovely airfield and attracts all types of people, particularly at weekends. I remember Chris very well, sitting in his chair with "his coat of many Jack Russells". Unfortunately, Chris passed away several years ago and the airfield is now run by his son Jamie. I learnt to fly at Headcorn in 1977 and have many happy memories of the airfield. Although I no longer fly light aircraft, I still visit Headcorn to watch the flying, parachuting and ballooning. Well worth a visit!
Have you noticed that Americans visiting the airfield seem only to be able to call it "Cornhead"? Used to give us a chuckle. Haven't been there for years, last time I was there, old Chris was in his chair wearing his coat of many Jack Russels. Your chaps in Afghanistan could use such a garment, I guess ours could too!
