  • Can two minutes change a life? Hear Chloe’s story in her own words, and you decide. Chloe is a young high school athlete playing on a traveling soccer team who sustains a head injury during a game; and then sustains further brain trauma when her coach sends her back into the game. This is a poignant story of Chloe’s experience following her multiple concussions and the importance of knowing when to say “No.” Her message is also about seeking medical assistance immediately following a head injury, as a precautionary measure. The long-term side effects that Chloe has endured include depression; headaches; and trouble remembering, learning, and performing everyday tasks. “Chloe’s Story” is a powerful reminder for parents, athletes, coaches, teachers, and administrators about the importance of concussion awareness and training. Students who are injured must learn to advocate for themselves; teammates and adults on the sidelines must advocate for the injured. In telling her story, Chloe is passionate about spreading the word so other students and their families will not have to endure the same experience as her family. “Chloe’s Story” stands out as an important addition to the vast collection of testimonials in the medical and health arena on concussions, brain injury, athletic training, and more.
