Needs a dollop of Colman's English mustard on top of each dumpling then a bit more gravy.👍🏻

I dredge my meat in flour before frying to thicken the stew. And I put in one TB tomato paste after sauteing the onions. And add a small can of corn kernels and two large handfuls of mushrooms ( cut in half or quarters if big) 1/2 hour before ready. But then it wouldn't be a wonderful northern stew!

Easily done in a slow cooker with all ingredients put in together. Saves on gas/electric. Much better.
I don’t add garlic & I steam my dumplings the same but without the crunchy top ,lovely meal & I also freeze some 👍🏻🙂
