Universal clearly said that it would be a high energy universal franchise, I highly doubt they would say universal franchise if it weren't true,

I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE Universal make full use of the Star Trek franchise as Disney is doing work Star Wars. Could you imagine Universal doing everything Disney is doing with Star Wars, but with Star Trek??? It'd be Star Wars vs Star Trek. Imagine a Star Trek resort to the extent of the fully imersive Star Wars resort. I would just have to pick up all my stuff and move to Florida again. OMG
Plus, I remember the Star Trek adventure thing. I used to have a child of my VHS experience. That was actually pretty cool.

Thank goodness it's not Pitch Perfect!! I'm a much bigger Star Wars fan but I could see this plan working well for Universal.
I would love to see Universal create a new Star Trek attraction. Borg Encounter from Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas has already shown that a 4-D type theater attraction in possible. Hopefully Universal could come up with something using the new cast and newer tech that would be even more impressive than what was in Vegas.

I love the "keep em on the ropes" style Universal has done with the mouse. It would be great but nothing is out there to make this rumor "concrete" for me. When I see more I'd believe it.

What Star Trek series ? I'm a Next Gen fan.... Perhaps you could get to pick you're own time period for any purchases. That would be great !!! I remember spending good $$$ on the traveling Star Trek display back in Vegas. I'd do it again without hesitation !!!
Yeah it's just a rumour E.J, definitely an interesting rumour though, apparently Universal have been playing with the idea of bringing Star Trek back for years.
But yes, I love Universals drive to keep pushing the bar higher, very astute of them!!
I love Star Trek but not the new reboot, give me the next generation give me the Borg, Resistance is futile. Imagine the dark theming that could happen with the Borg, they could even set it after the events of Nemesis with a Borg invasion of the federation and bring in people from the other star treks like Voyagers and DS9.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Trekkies tend to not be a big fan of the J. J. Abrams Star Trek. I hope they put in a Star Trek: The Next Generation ride in as opposed to a rebooted Star Trek ride.
I'm thinking of something along the lines of Star Trek: The Experience.
I'd be fine with a Star Trek ride/attraction of some sort, it could be about you getting called up to the enterprise to assist the crew with some sort of problem whether it be Klingons Borgs or something like that. That way it stays interactive and high energy
I remember and actually have a vhs tape of me dressed as a Klingon when it used to be in the theater in universal Hollywood. I remember it closed and got replaced by flinstones show I think and now it is the shrek theater.
I don’t remember it being in Orlando though, it was interesting to know that it existed there too.
The rumor of a new attraction every year sounds a bit to ambitious. If that is true then it sounds like Universal will be closing down several existing rides to add new ones unless there is property available between existing rides

Yes I do hope that many rides stay like ET.. who knows though, I can see an extra ride added to Jurassic park,, i can see Toon Lagoon, and the lost continent at IOA, getting the chop and fear factor and obviaouly Kidzone going, for Universal studios Florida, this could quite easily free up several years of new attractions, until a new park is announced and built. Don't forget we also have the Dragon Challenge newcomer on the cards, so plenty to look forward to.
How about doing a video on the lack of Nickelodeon content at universal studios

I'd love to see Looney Tunes, DC, and other Warner properties at Universal Orlando. Too bad they are stuck at Six Flags.

in the end during the smoke scene, the seats dropped suddenly, i hated that.
I've learned to live with T2: 3-D's closure since Tim Miller (Terminator 6) says he wants to make a Terminator 6 attraction like T2: 3-D. To be honest, I never saw T2: 3-D fitting in the Hollywood area. If Tim Miller does a Terminator 6 attraction, I would want to see it next to Men in Black. However, please don't do Star Trek(I know it's out of your control, I'm just voicing my complaint). I would be okay with a Jason Bourne attraction.

Wow. Several weeks ago I made the call that US could bring in Star Trek to replace T2-3D. Never thought It "might" happen. That would be great! I Think they should take some of the ideas used in the old Las Vegas Star Trek experience and make it an incredible immersive experience. The cue line could be a planetary base that the Enterprise needs save and sends shuttles down to save us. The ride could be a shuttle simulator racing us from the planet while the enterprise battles all around us. Or maybe something like star tours where the "bad guys" and the situation is different every time you ride giving the riders another reason to come back. The don't need another racing sim (Jimmy, Fast and the Furious, Spiderman, Transformers, Ect) and they need to update Jurassic park to Jurassic world. Star Trek has a huge following and bring back Star Trek to the park will bring old and new fans to the parks for a cool new adventure. When Star Wars opens in Disney, It will be and should be an truly immersive experience that will hurt US in the short run. Dagon alley is amazing and I believe that US should do a very small Star Trek version to compete just a little with the Disney's Star Wars land. I guess we'll have to set phasers to "wait and see" and hope for something cool.
I'd much rather see Star Trek placed in the empty backlot space around MIB (SE corner of the map). There's plenty of space to make a themed land to the whole franchise with multiple attractions, shops, dining experiences, and shows. Plus, it just fits better here than close to the entrance where theming would be an eyesore to the Universal entrance theme (backlot of Hollywood... ish).
I sure hope Universal doesn't become a PIA (plop it anywhere) park, as those parks tend to struggle financially over time due to the disorganized mess over time.
Star Trek would be great, better than Jason Bourne 100% but it is not a Universal Franchise.....so it is certainly not happening.
Please, please, please Universal!!! Please do this!!! I remember the Star Trek attraction at Universal Hollywood from the early 90's and would love to see Star Trek return to the Universal parks.

A Star Trek ride would be amazing. Hopefully they use the ride vehicle demo I saw the other day for the Bourne rumoured replacement of Terminator and have the audience be on the bridge of the Enterprise as it battles through a space adventure. BEAM ME UP NOW!
When I was a kid, we went to Universal Studios in California; I still have the VHS tape with our Star Trek Adventure. A group of audience volunteers, my brother and myself included, got dressed up in costumes, were filmed on sets, and then edited into a narrative including stock film footage. It was awesome. Not a fast-moving attraction, more like one of the shows, but there's no reason they couldn't do a pretty fantastic attraction in Orlando.
I don't think Star Trek is a bad choice in some respects. Star Trek has a very loyal fan base and has thousands of hardcore fans who would enjoy this opportunity. However, the one problem I see is that they will basing this rise off of the the new movies. The newer, darker Star Trek from J. J. Abrams was not very well received by a large number of hardcore Star Trek fans. This is the same problem that Star Trek Discovery is having. Fans do not want the dark and gloomy Star Trek, but rather the brighter and more optimistic Star Trek. Although it would be difficult to create a ride based on one of the classic Star Trek shows, I think it would fare much better with true Star Trek fans if they did.
Hey Will good video, I would love the idea of Star Trek coming to T2, but I’m sorry but I don’t want them to build a Jurassic world show or ride, at least not in that area, as I don’t think it makes sense to put in that attraction in such a small space, but I could see pitch perfect or Jason Bourne coming, and I’ll see you next Wednesday for another amazing newscast
I would prefer a Walking Dead permanent attraction over the Star Trek IP .. the T2 location is too small to make a practical attraction for ST. Another cool IP that I think would be attractive for this location is Westworld. Both of my suggestions are for mature audiences so I don't know how practical they would be to be an attraction that can be experienced for all demographics
People are getting tired of flight simulators, but I could see a Trek adventure in a shuttle pod etc. Harder to imagineer a Bridge experience that could accommodate theme park sized crowds. Maybe start out shipboard, but 'escape' in an escape pod... It'd be great if you exited the pod directly to outdoors after the flight.
Beam me up Scotty! T2 had to go, we went a week ago I made the rest of the family go with me and they hated it. Mainly because it was unwatchable, they had the 3D out of sync so you saw everything in double vision. Really poor on Universals end.

I would like to see a SING attraction in place of T2-3D. They could remodel the theatre into the Moon theatre and have the animals perform. Perhaps there could also be some crowd interaction and they could have people in the audience sing on stage with the characters.
As an old school Star Trek fan, I would love to see this happen. I have to wonder though how long they would keep it since neither the series or the movies are their intellectual property. I would love to see something with guests playing rolls as they did on the Disaster ride (RIP). They did do a live action sequence on their tram ride in California based on the Battlestar Galactica show in the early 80s. That used an impressive laser show and live actor.
I would love to see an theme park attraction with the 4th in the reboot series of Trek.
A Star Trek attraction would be AMAZING
SG1 would be better than Star Trek for me, but it's not a big enough franchise. So why not take something from nick' or Dreamworks

A Bourne ride would be amazing. Start the pre show with us being 'CIA' agents getting briefed of what to do if we see Bourne. Then a mixture of live action and footage in the theatre would be amazing.
Space, time , the finally good new ride with an amazing channel , to get this right it would be awesome to be a part of the star trek movies and entering a new prototype ship that you're trying out to be crew on you go through war games but then Klingons intercept your ship and fail to destroy it , until the Borg cube shows up and they board your ship and replace the T-600's with Borg running around the room untill they adapt to the live actors on this new ship and end up getting destroied by the captain hacking their system and you end up saving the day and are allowed to ride along anytime.
Well we know Universal works well with Paramount bc they also have the rights to Transformers. So this does make sense and I think it would be a great idea.

They said in their press release it would be a Universal franchise replacing Terminator. Why would they say that if they're gonna borrow another property from another company? That's why I doubt Star Trek is replacing it. There's strength or leverage to back up this rumor. It's random and just sounds like a fan rumor. Plus, while the recent films were successful, critics and fans have not been so high on the last 2 films. Though, that has stopped Universal before (i.e. Transformers)
That's true but I don't know why Jim Hill would come out and say this otherwise. Check out the podcast in the description, he seems very adamantalmost as if he knows some insider information...
Will, don't forget other great franchises include 50 Shades and the American Pie ....lol. those would make for some interesting attractions. Rofl

Considering the space that T2 currently covers, it will be a similar show and Star Trek makes more sense to me. They may stick with one of their own properties to save some $. Thanks Will for another great show, and it's my birthday today! Glad to cap it off with Universal Newscast!

Shrek 4D is definitely going to be the Dreamworks Theatre featuring Kung Fu Panda, I did a video on it a while back.

You could say the same about ET to Kidzone, or Fear factor to lost continent... I don't think that sort of themeing matter that much these days unless it's a 'land'

Why would Universal have interest in reviving a franchise license that expired more than 2 decade ago? Besides they just got Dreamworks and Nintendo IPs under their belts.
So by that reasoning why not make every ride in the park Nintendo, Harry Potter and dreamworks?? Universal have always thought outside the box, they shouldn't stop now. However this is a rumour so I guess we'll have to wait and see?! 😊👍🏻

Like it or not, Star Trek is a huge franchise with numerous hardcore fans watching the old television shows and movies. Even if the new movies aren't very well received by fans, there is still a large market for Star Trek related attractions.

I'd like to see Universal do with Star Trek at the park what The Hilton Hotel and Paramount did with The Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas back in the day. Now gone, it was the most amazing, fully immersive experience one could imagine while being on board the Enterprise from the "Next Generation" days while battling the Borg. SOOO cool and so sad they got rid of it.

Uh I beg to differ, Star Trek Discovery is not doing as well as perceived. The show sucks as it now revolves around one character and Hollywood’s agenda to push homosexuality it’s no longer Star Trek.

Universal needs to make a Star Trek Land to compete with Disney. If they do that, my nerdy dreams would come true.
I would totally love a star trek attraction, especially based off of the recent trilogy.
It would be a crazy idea if they put a UA-cam themed ride featuring the UA-camrs 🤔😂
I hope Universal gets a Star Trek Borg Encounter attraction (similar to Star Trek: The Experience), a Shuttlecraft motion simulator ride (similar to the Star Wars Star Tours ride at Disney World/Disneyland), Quark's Restaurant and the Ten Forward Bar. Throw in a replica of the Enterprise-D bridge, the Holodeck, a gift shop, workers staffing the rides and shops in Star Trek TNG/DS9/VGR uniforms and you got yourself a deal, Universal!
I also hope they get a Star Trek-themed hotel. They should theme it to the U.S.S. Enterprise-D from TNG.
