I loved this video!! I currently dental assist at a 10 chair practice and it’s CHAOTIC. I’m also applying to dental school in a few months and though I’m many years away from practicing dentistry, I do feel more inclined to want to run a practice the way you do. I love how intimate and cozy your office must feel. Not enough dentists practice good dentistry..and it’s so great that you’ve found your niche. I’d love to visit your office one day. This video was sooo informative. Thank you!! I would loveeee to see an office tour video. Keep it up!!
Aw thank you for watching and I love hearing this perspective from a dental assistant! I always feel like it must be so hard to learn the way each dentist likes to do things esp if there are 10’ops! My assistant has been with me for many years now and I feel like she knows what I’m even thinking before I know what I’m thinking 😂. It’s a special bond in the right setting. Glad the video was insightful! Many ways to practice dentistry ❤
I'm a Dental Hygienist, here in Jamaica and is making my transition to work in the USA, a small practice free from the choas is where I want to be, sort of like a small town practice. It's great that you've established that for your practice, irrespective of the many cons ...lol, but I personally feel that the quality is insurmountable in a setting like yours!
“Employees need to take care of themselves especially if they’re sick” that is so true ! I’m a respiratory practitioner, we have no sick days even tho we work 12hrs around sick patients especially in NICU can’t get those babies sick but you will have your job threatened for calling out too much even if your sick or kids. You can’t take care of other people if you don’t take care of yourself
Love love this video! Such great insights in to practice owning. Another great video idea would be ‘what to look for or questions to ask when looking for associate jobs’. Would love your take on it.
I have a video on how to be a good asssociate...and I have one on interviewing too! They are a little older but might be the answer to what you were asking. Keep the ideas coming, I appreciate them!!!!
hello thank you for posting these vids! I will be going to dental school next year, and I'm open to owning my practice if I don't specialize . you have such good takes and good insight, and also a great personality, so i really enjoy your vids!
Oo interesting!! I always feel like I live in a bubble when people outside of the US tell me how dentistry is. 😂 very American way of thinking. Love all the insights!

Thank you for watching! Dentistry can be stressful enough..the environment should help minimize the chaos IMO.

agree. It is not convenient for the office in the short term but in the grand scheme (big picture) like what you just painted, it is important.

Ahh thank you!! yay what an exciting time for you. Really cool that you are thinking about life after dental school already!
A true working class story 🥲 is Julianne still there? I haven’t been there in a year but will schedule an appointment sometime next month!
She’s not! I miss her haha she was such a great dentist!
6 month maturnity leave is crazy 😮I think regular people get like 4-6wks, if that and some managers be mad about that
There is definitely a pressure to reduce the length of leave! I talked about this in my other video about women in dentistry. It's not easy!
Thanks for sharing your experience in a micro practice Dr. Joyce. I appreciate this video so much!
is your husband interested in joining your practice? if not, why? ive seen a lot of dentist couples building multiple practices together
He has his own practice! Almost exactly the opposite vibe as mine (large, multi specialty, insurance dependent, volume). Different strokes! 🩷
You have been uploading some bangers recently! Thanks for posting
Ahhh thank you! 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
Wait but next video would you rather have an office tour or dental school topic?
office tour! please, sounds super cozy!
As a second year dental student, I say dental school topic, but I def want the office tour!
@@CD4HelperTCellhaha it’s so small the tour might be 1 minute. But I’ll make it fun somehow!! 🎉
@@kelssrpwill work on both!! 🎉🎉
Office tour!
Here in France, two chairs dental office is maybe like 50% of the offices 😅
Oo interesting!! I always feel like I live in a bubble when people outside of the US tell me how dentistry is. 😂 very American way of thinking. Love all the insights!
Oh yes interesting.@@Joycethedentist
While watching I thought the cons were the pros 😅sounds like a win win
hahah the cons start to sound like pros after working for a chaotic huge office hehe
Do you think, with nothing else changed, if you instead had 3 ops and not 2, would make the daily flow much easier?
Did you start your practice from scratch or bought it?
It was an acquisition but a very small patient base
Can you make a tour
