- Welcome back to Next-Gen Console Watch, and this week Max is in the host's chair filling in for Daemon. He's joined by IGN's community lead, Jada Griffin, and Podcast Unlocked regular Destin Legarie. The topic: what are some of the best former PS5 and Xbox exclusives that are now available on other platforms? Sea of Thieves has been a consistent moneymaker for Microsoft since 2018, but just this year the game made the jump to the PlayStation 5. And will we ever see PS5 console exclusives like the Final Fantasy 7 remake games or Helldivers 2 on Xbox? Plus we have poll results and a new poll for you to vote on at IGN.com.
The issue with the PS login isn't just "another game account". It's the fact PS network is physically not available, and/or allowed in certain countries. This is all on Sony because it means they would have to invest into putting PSN servers and infrastructure in those territories to support the login. They don't want to, yet they want everybody to log into a non-existent network to boost player engagement numbers in certain places? This is why it goes beyond just having another account, and it's also money off the table for Sony since no PSN = No sales of games in those countries, either.
And yet, with all those countries blocked, Ghost of tsushima is a success
Those countries should just pirate the game anyways
It is common sense that selling your game to a larger customer base would get you more sales.
It's common sense for the developer, but for the platform.
It doesn't increase consol sales when it goes the other platforms
@@Macktube If a developer is putting games on multiple platforms, then console sales are meaningless to anyone but the console manufacturer. All the major console owners also own studios that make games and hardware is usually sold at a loss or minimal profit anyway. Software makes the most money. Spreading out to more platforms will give an opportunity for maximum sales and profit.

The truly pathetic state of current gen exclusives is displayed by the fact that nearly 4 years on, cross gen games are now considered current gen exclusives. First PC doesn't count, now this crap.

Personally think games that should and will have success on other platforms are Bloodborne, Quantum Break, Astral Chain and Bayonetta 2&3. Gravity Rush 1$2

The poll...... Exclusives MATTER. You simply CAN'T sell your brand and/product without them, thos os COMMON SENSE/KNOWLEDGE THROUGHOUT THE *ENTIRE* BUSINESS MARKET, REGARDLESS WHAT business you're in! You can sell games, movies, tools, kitchenware, food, clothes, travel gear, ipets and aupplies,homecare tools, SERVICES, and gardening, t simply DOES NOT MATTER.

In a technical sense Persona was never exclusive, Atlus just never bothered to port the games until Sega was like ’do it’.
In a technical sense, a game's exclusivity does depend on whether or not a platform holder outright signed a contract to keep a game exclusive, it depends on whether said game is only available on one platform or not.
Having games on every console only helps Microsoft.
Sony is a tiny company compared to Microsoft.
They or Nintendo allow their exclusives on Xbox, Microsoft will easily turn into the giant Goliath like Amazon and just destroy the smaller mom and Pop competition.
The ROI for PS games on XBOX wouldn't be worth it for SONY. they're used to selling Millions of copies.

Game of Thrones on Netflix? There's a reason for exclusives. There's no competition for services without exclusives. Competing services drive better value for consumers. Anybody saying there should be no exclusive games lacks understanding of the entertainment industry.

Gamers should be loyal to the game franchises and game studios instead of console-making companies. The idea of MS vs Sony is so mid-2000s. With the closures of game studios and massive lay-offs across the industry, console brand loyalty and exclusivity can kill future game development. So, the point to take away in all of this, again - be loyal to the games and game studios you love instead of being loyal to the consoles.

All games are made on PC's then ported to consoles - even Sony/MS exclusives... So yeah porting a game to other platforms is not hard its just a choice and a question of how much effort is put into it... But its not hard as long as the console has the power...
