I adopted an 11 month old lab mix 9 months ago. we are his 3rd home and the one before us thought it was perfectly acceptable not to feed him for days at a time to the point that at 8 months old he weighed less than 1/3 of the weight he should have. (He spent from August to January in a special area of the shelter gaining weight and getting healthy) After giving him a new name for a new start he bonded with me and looks to me as his comfort and his person. He is a ton of work teaching him what he needs to know and how to interact with others but he is the bestest of boys. It breaks my heart to know that there are some people that look on pets as disposable. If you can't bring a pet into your life and commit to it for the remainder of its life get a stuffed teddy bear to keep you company. Thank you Misha for caring what happens to this sweetheart

I'm with you, Mish! She needs to be abandoned, in the middle of nowhere, where she can SEE (A small part of) what it's like for the dogs that this happens to on a regular basis! My dog, Ginger, is a rescue and it took me 3 months to get her because when I'd call the shelter, I got told "Ohh... Sorry... We have someone coming to adopt her, this afternoon." So the 3rd time I called, I started out with "Don't you DARE give me that "Someone is coming to adopt her, this afternoon" bullshit or I will come in there and lay WASTE to you AND your shelter!!!!!!!!" and they told me "We don't do that, anymore, because the same person told us they were coming multiple times and then never showed up." So I told them I was on my way. I made a 15 mile drive, in 10 minutes FLAT and adopted her. The ride home, she was shaking and acting like she KNEW she was going to be dropped off and abandoned, again, and I promised her she would never be abandoned again. Today was the FIRST day, I had her back in my vehicle, since I adopted her in July, to get her used to going for rides. She did SUPER well and happy, just to be with dad and then come back home. So... More power to you, brother, and give her ALL the hell you can, for being a heartless and CRUEL B@tch to an animal who's had to deal with people like her MULTIPLE times!

Wow! It baffles me how many people act like they are animal lovers only to ditch the poor soul in a far worse situation than they "rescued" it from. Some people need to be arrested for the "good will" they show towards animals. 💕

My little pup was dumped twice before I adopted him. He also had a foster mom after the second time he was dumped. Poor little guy has so much anxiety when I have to leave him even to just take the trash out. Still makes me cry when I think of that. I’ve had him thirteen years now . People can be so cruel. Just let a dog lose in a neighborhood is despicable and against the law in most areas. You did right by this dog.

I agree with everything you just said Misha...how can someone take on a living animal, then just casually drop this animal off to fend for itself? How cruel, and irresponsible is that person? You don't give up and give a child away, nor do you give up on ANYONE just because life gets "Hard"...yes, in issues of safety, or abuse, or mental illness there MAY be extenuating circumstances where you are not able to even take care of yourself, let alone anything else....but JUST because times get tough you DON'T just do something like this. Shameful...and SHAME on that woman!

My first time viewing you Misha. Thank heavens it was you who found Lazy and not some vile human who may have hurt her. You’ve done everything possible to find a good outcome for Lazy. I have, sadly, been in a similar situation and it really, really sucks! I often say I hate humans. As a species we are vile to other species. How this person could just abandon poor Lazy is beyond me. She should have, and could have, taken her to a shelter. It’s the previous owner who is lazy! Good on you Misha for doing all you did. At least Lazy has now experienced genuine kindness, even if only for a little while. I’m sure the shelter will do all they can for her.

Very very rarely is getting a pet to deal with your own issues going to work out. Those are called therapy animals, and they're expensive and the wait list is long. You get a pet because you're gifted one by the universe, at the right place, at the right time. It takes time, and dedication, and love, and understanding, especially with a rescue dog. In fact, it takes more than even having kids! I hope Lazy finds the best home for her so she can get all the love and cuddles and snacks and sun naps she could ever hope for. Thank you, Misha, for taking care of her the best way you could, and putting that horrible person in her place.

It's heartbreaking what Lazy went through, hope she finds a good home. My family owns a dog and a bunny both which were taken adopted when they needed it. Our dog was saved from going to a shelter as the previous owner was going to abandon her simply cuz she is a smaller breed. Our rabbit couldn't move with her previous owners so she was given to me and gets lots of love an attention.

I know you couldn’t take Lazy and how much it breaks your heart, but at least you found her and could help her move into the her forever home now, because you care enough to make sure she’s safe. I HATE that people like her last owner has already stole her chance for happiness once, she deserves to have her children abandon her in a home and never speak to her

It breaks my heart, because poor Lazy has connected with these people and been given up and abandoned. Such a sweet baby doesn’t deserve this. If you’re going to adopt a dog,be prepared for work and commit to it! There is a lot more love and happiness that comes from having a dog. I have a rescue, and chose to adopt him as I knew he would likely not be adopted as he was 8 years old,and people want puppies. I’ve had him two years, and he’s the light of my life. Has he been work? Yes. Is he worth it? Hell yes!!! He has rewarded me every day with his love and affection.

Don't get a dog if you're not SURE you can handle it!!! Animals not trained for emotional support are NOT there to take care of YOU. YOU are supposed to be there to take care of THEM. They are your children, and if you can abandon your child to the STREETS, not even to a fucking shelter (though that wouldn't make it better, just slightly less heartless), then I don't want to know you!! I LOVE your response, Misha. it was perfect!!!!

  • @MommaARA
    @MommaARA 3 дні тому +2

In Germany you need to register your dog and required by law must be trained and cared for. You pay taxes every year to have the dog and it must be chipped. This has stopped strays and abandoning animals.

This is why I will until I cannot adopt or foster senior pets. I adopted my cat at 13yo who has arthritis and sensitive stomach/stomach issues. I learned that she had been surrendered to the exact same shelter 5+ years prior. I promised her when I adopted her that I'd do my upmost best until the day she (or I) transitions to give her a good life and never have to worry about being abandoned again. Thankfully there are people like me out there in the world who rather and prefer older pets. I adopted my dog when he was 3-4 years old. I won't adopt an animal prior to that age. This is all to say, that I hope the dog is at a no kill shelter and finds someone like me who will give it everything even when life is hard.

She looks like she has Malinois in her. They are a high energy dog and get abandoned a lot. We recently got one dropped on us with a similar story. My elderly mother lives with us but she really wanted another dog and took this one in while we were away. We came back to her covered in scratches because Malinois can be very pawsy. I refuse to give her up because she is already suffering the effects of abandonment and neglect. We’ve been working hard on training her now to jump up, sit/ down, stay/wait, all the good stuff to teach her patience. I’m starting my retirement off with an exercise buddy, because she needs lots of exercise. Luckily, she is super smart, so she’s picking most of it up. Getting her to not jump up on us is a real issue though. She gets real excited. I’ve got some really good scratches from her. Oh well, she’s a total goober and too late now! All mine!

YEAH!!!! I am on your side 1000%! I have 4 resuce dogs currently. I lost my love Willow in January and my furry family dropped to 3 and when my heart healed and was ready I rescued another lovely girl. One of my rescues was in foster care for 18 months and they were worried that she may not find a home as she had failed some home visits before. She did well with my 3, but showed some behaviors that made me worry. My amazing husband really wanted to keep her telling me that she needs us more than we need her and we can help her 💓 4 years later she is still a bit of an odd dog might be a husky thing lol, but now she wants loves and being petted, we can brush her, cut her toe nails I am glad my hubby saw something in her that he felt our home woudl be good for her because it was. She has grown so much and is such a happy girl now. It breaks my heart and sickens me that anyone coudl do that to any animal.

Of all the Heinlein I’ve read my favorite scene was a character saying what should happen to those who abandon or abuse animals. Put them in a room where the walls are constantly showing vehicles bearing down on them and the temperature goes from waaaay too hot to waaaay too cold and they don’t get any food or water.

Oh, Misha! That's fucking horrible! These vile abusers, and they ARE abusers, do not deserve kindness of ANY sort! Poor Laxy! She looks like a sweet baby. I just adopted a pair of calico sisters, 9 yo, from the ASPCA and the people acted like I was a saint for taking them in. I'm too old for kittens, these ladies are exactly who I need. We are dealing with stress and trauma a induced behavior, wrapping in my closet, barfing everywhere, hiding... One is bolder and is taking ownership of me, though she's not totally trusting. The other is scared. She's fucking scared! She fucking cowers from me. I only pick her up if I have to because it's traumatic for her. On the other hand, when she comes to me for pets, I give them, gentle and loving. I don't know what my ladies have been through, but I think them were not well treated in their previous home and their stint at the shelter didn't help. I've had them since August and they are getting better. Lilly, the bold girl, demands I lift her up to the bathroom counter so she can drink from the faucet. I obey. Lizzy, my shy shadow girl, was showing interest in that today, but being lifted is a no go. They are terrified of being cornered, and my walking stick. I'm giving them the time and space they need, food and a comfortable home. They are hurt by the life they've lived and it will take time, but I'm retired and time is what I've got. They will come to understand that there are no punishments in this home, we are all adults and are here to love and help each other. But, Misha, why can't people understand that these creatures are precious and valuable? They are pieces of God's love wrapped in fur. They are gifts! Surrendering to a shelter is bad enough, but abandoning one of these fur people on the streets? That person is a fucking monster!!!
Thank you for allowing me to vent. Now I need to go cry.

Thats just awful I only have rescue dogs and I would not have it any other way. My Neice the dog that is pictured here was surrendered to the shelter twice and when we got her I promised her she would have the best life ever and she would never know a shelter life ever again no matter what she was the best dog a little mischievous but nothing to awful. She lived till at least 16 and what a happy girl. People are trash at the very least surrender them to a shelter instead of just dropping them my other dog I believe was abandoned he is a pug and same with him Nugget is around 16 and living his best life. This is just heartbreaking hopefully your post will help her find a good furever home. Love you Bestie 💞

This kills me, absolutely kills me.
I had a rescue dog, I had her from the time she was only 12wks old.
When she was 5yrs old, I got a job offer and moved in with a friend who lived in a "No Pets" apartment complex.
This broke my heart. I rehomed my beloved best friend and she had a lovely life with a "baby brother" dog and a huge yard and got to flirt with construction guys, and protect an adorable young boy. I knew it was MY responsibility to make sure she had a good home when I wasn't able to fulfil my duty as her bipedal-mom.
I cried for days....ney, weeks over having to let her go, but I knew she was well taken care of and loved beyond belief.
This behavior makes me so angry - HOW COULD SHE!?
DOGS are Domesticated! They are NOT wild animals, they CANNOT fend for themselves! They are the responsibility of HUMANS to care for them!
(Cats too! I love both fur-babies)
    This is unconscionable behavior!
    I'm so angry I can't even!!

I don't understand why if taking the dog in wasn't working out she didn't take him to a shelter or a vet herself for assistance on rehoming? Does she have a history of getting then abandoning pets or was this her 1st & she didn't think it through? Either way abandoning a domestic animal & "hoping" it lucks into a good home shouldn't be her solution.
Sometimes people don't research the breed to see if it is right for them, or they haven't had a dog before don't realize it's a lot of work, like committing to having a toddler for a decade or more.

We had to many cats because of people abandoning them. We had a very feral calico gave birth after she was abandoned. Unfortunately she was unalived by a coyote. We were trying to grt her to come to us. We bottle fed her babies. We looked for rescues and not 1 could take them so I looked for good homes. 2 went to a wonderful home together. 1 went to a home that thos person also recommended We thought this kitten was a boy it was a girl so that person basically said no I don't want her so that kitten went to live with her sisters. The brother we were told was in a awesome home. Find out he got out w a s supposed to been that day. It's been 5 days and the girl age 13 messages me asking me to give her one of my cats because we have so many. She thinks he can be replaced and that wh a t her mom didn2 cats to replace the 1. Meanwhile I'm he a rtbroken and devastated. I been driving through the town he lived at and checking every where for him.and shelters..I learned from my mistake. I will not trust anyone with a fur baby again. They are going ohh the little girl is 13. So is my daughter she knows better.ypu did what you could for that baby and if people see your post they may look to adopt that baby knowing the humans failed her not her being a problem. I feel for that baby.
