You’ll be to 10k in no time, great production quality for such a small channel!
Thanks Commander! I love doing what I do.
Video quality has been great, can’t wait to see what you do to the R!! Have fun
thanks Max!
Subscribed to your channel. I used to see a few of your GTIs video, but your quality and style has grown so much that I felt like I needed to subscribe. Keep up the good work and keep posting those R videos so excited for you and I want to see your MOD journey 😎
Appreciate that a lot Gerardo. I love making content for all of you guys, and my goal is to keep improving quality and overall content. The R videos will indeed keep coming!
Like the golf R and how you keep it classy and subdued. This ain’t rice!
Thanks. I try my best haha.
Hell yeah! Waiting for the mk8 to get my R can't wait!
The Mk8 R is gonna be nuts.
Hope you're enjoying it! Look into the Discharge Pipes they made a Huge Difference in response! Look at EQT Tunning!
Thanks Sam! I hear a lot of compelling things about EQT, I will have to check them out.
@@NewEnglandPeteYeah compared to the CTS they had a bigger diameter throughout the piping! Also cheapest Price! Keep up the videos love them all!
love the content, can’t comprehend how you aren’t blowing up
Thanks so much! Even if I don't blow up, I love making content for the viewers I have now! :)
@@NewEnglandPete I agree, you will though! Keep the videos coming. I've been on a hunt for a GTI!
Great video, and straight to the point 👍
Thanks!
was thinking about ordering this intake and now ive decided to finally order it, good video!
Kayla Kolben appreciate it!
Let the bolt ons begin! ha! nice install bro. I've got the same setup with the APR intake, inlet elbow, and turbo muff delete. Lots of nice whooshy sounds haha keep up the great videos
Thanks brother. Trying to make the most out of turbo noises before I put in another ridiculous exhaust. I'm alllll about the wooshy sounds... hahah.
@@NewEnglandPete gonna be sick bro! Looking forward to it! 🔥
Stock intake with performance filter does the same job. Waste of money to buy the intake ….
sounds so sick bro!
thanks homie
I miss the DV on my 02 awp 1.8t. Sounded so friggin good!
I wanna try a DV on the R for sure.
2:18 Seems witness protection housed Tekashi in your neighborhood buddy
Sounds good!
Thanks!
i like your newenglandpete style
Aw thx
Yo Pete. Just curious: do you notice any difference in the quality of your Mexican built GTI vs your German built Golf R?
What is the wire bit (that hurt your hand) and where does it go in the new intake?
Was there any reason you go with closed intake from APR. I would go with open intake for louder turbo noise. Im in MA and have the mk7 golf R as well.hope you turn of the soundaktor cuz that was the first thing I did
The philosophy with a closed intake is the ability to keep away any hot air... but I am no expert so that is only what is claimed by most closed intakes. The soundaktor is pleasant for the time being when I don't have an exhaust because the overall stock cat-back is laughably quiet.
She’s a beauty
VWR turbo muffler delete & turbo elbow next😋 and remove ur hood insulation foam pad for around a 20% increase in intake/turbo sounds!
For sure! Definitely gotta do that.
Did you bring the GTI back to stock before you sold it? My bad if you already mentioned this👍
I sold it "as is". So with all of the APR goodies and stuff. However I did take off the intake and inlet pipe.
yo i’m buying a new golf r this week. what do you think the most essential mods i should do first?
It's pretty mint stock, but I recommend aesthetic tweaks like exhaust, and intake.
Tyres, exhaust and lows
yo! thought you were going to get another intake after you found out the air flow results on the GTI with this intake?
as stated in this video, i had this lying around so I decided to put in on the R. Only for boosty noises. Not gains.
@@NewEnglandPete noticed at the end you mentioned that actually :) might as well put it to use! figured you'd taken it out prior to selling #compatible
Do you have any other mods on it? If so what were the first mods you did ?
This marks the very FIRST mod for the Golf R.
Man I’ve seriously gone down the rabbit hole that is golf r and gti’s.
Not a bad place to be! ;)
Probably gonna pull the trigger on one later this year or early next. The wife’s on board as well!
Luke Nguyen you won’t regret it.
Go Integrated engineering for everything else 💪🏾
agreed
IE makes a killer tune! When it comes to tuning time, I will heavily consider them. Ultimately it's all of your guys feedback for whoever I choose.
Have IE ECU and TCU tune for my R and its super smooth power and shifting
You'll probably wait forever for it right now.
I needed a power steer hose for a mk4, and they have em but not for the auto trans.
So I got a mk3 hose with mk4 fittings.
Between correspondence beginning in mid February
(usually a week to answer a question by email)
and actually receiving it in mid April I hope you're not in a hurry.
Great part , but wow it took forever!
Hey! do you think this will fit on a normal MK7 Golf TSI 1.8? (2016)
Thanks!
yes it should.
Intakes aren’t a mod you do for HP, you do it for the noise and aesthetics imo
Agreed I owned several 4g63t platforms and the only thing I noticed was a bit of vac noise... No performance gains at all...
Yes agreed! You can't beat how good the APR intake looks in that plastic engine bay! :)
How does it feel to be wrong? Quality intakes provide horsepower gains. Then again you're probably 16 and own a pile of shit that you slapped a Pepboys tube and filter on.
Will this be your number one regretted mod in a future video too?
HAHAHA you know it! JK, that claim was made when comparing to competing intakes. I had this laying around and decided to put it on the R. There are no negative impacts, just more swooshy sounds.
@@NewEnglandPete I was only giving you a hard time lol. Any reason APR vs IE vs COBB or others? I know before was cause the rest was APR, but any reason beyond that?
Is there an internal filter element?
Yes there is.
get a turbo inlet youre gonna get even more noise
I will probably install my APR inlet pipe soon.
Does aftermarket intake avoid the warranty
It shouldn’t. Doesn’t change the ECM, so in turn, shouldn’t impact the warranty.
I just sold my APR intake because its more restrictive than a modified stock intake lol Pretty much every CAI other than APR is better
yes. that is true.
How could I modify my stock intake ?
@@3_L_mafia remove snow guard, change to higher flow filter
1:14 is that a rat running past!? 😬
Or you could just run the APR coolant hose and not worry about it...
The person who bought your Gti didn’t want the intake?
not sure...😂 but I wanted it for the R. He had no problem with OEM setup.
Apr sounds A LITTLE better, but definitely not worth the price tag. Intakes don't do anything that a quality drop in can't do.
Go eqt tuning! Eqt>>Apr
EQT certainly makes a great tune.
can‘t focus after 2:18
damn chipmunks!
Hey... was that a squirrel, a chipmunk that ran by or a, uh, "rabbit"? For those who get it... I know, dry humor... VERY dry! Hey, where's that bottle of water?
I say 4 HP gain.
one of the worst intakes there are performance wise.
I’m looking at getting a MK7 R, what’s the best intake performance wise then?
Kinda sad you pay all that money and get just an airbox that’s it no piping nothing to me looks kinda ghetto with nice carbon then goes to just plastic
