Zizaran i just recently started playing the game sentinal will be my actual second league of playing the game so while following this walktrough i found out that in the end XD i dident died a single time which previously was like 5-10 times before mapping i am not even kidding the tips and tricks here and there and showing us how to do certain things with our armor and crafting receps helped alot also the way you make the quests and than returning by relogging on certain points litrally will save me hours at the new league later xD it took me previously like 10-12 hours to do acts and i took notes of it -> the hard part would be finding equipment with the amount of slots which was not easy -> what i personally hated was splitting steel and halix was alot beter for me than splitting steel after the swap to bow and ea i almost dident have enough sockets but it somhow worked out resistance was not a problem after the trans to ea everything went also alot more smooth i like the bow playstyle as for the following bosses untill mapping after the ea swap was a breeze with max resistance and the amount of damage i did with the survivability but early on before act 2-3 i could say a totally new player could use vitality untill the build is a bit more activated besides that no complains

Just to say, a great way to show the difference between More/Increased is "Faster Projectiles" vs "Slower Projectiles" as 20% increased is less DPS than 10% more damage

@Zizaran I wish I had your loot luck.. I'm now lvl58 and my armor is only 1200 because I don't get good gear with right sockets, my resistances are bad also for the same reason.. have to wear just whatever has the right sockets, also I never run in to those essence monsters, not one excavation event has come up and only one delirium and I am in the same part with you right now about summon the ship that takes you to the brine king.. please wish/give some loot luck thanks lol!!

Hey Ziz, I'm totally new to PoE, I hadn't even seen a video of it before watching this the whole way through. I watched this, then watched some other stuff and consulted the reddit discord a fair bit. I just got to act 6. I think the video overall is really good, but at one point you kind of talk about how you wouldn't script an 8 hour video. Duh, who would. However, I think some of the really barebones stuff like getting resistances maxed and a breakdown of how the really common early game currencies work WOULD benefit from having a 10-20 minute script written from them that you slot in once it makes sense with how far into the run you are. You do a good job of explaining things extemporaneously, but there is SO much information that sticking to "mini-scripts" for brief windows once you meet "xyz" conditions might really help.
Examples of where this approach would have helped me:
-At the beginning of the run, discussing exactly which moments you have to stop and talk to NPCs to progress or interact with characters in town etc. You talk about how nice it is that you don't have to do this like a lot of other games constantly, but knowing roughly what zones/acts I need to stop and check for these and I could write them down. That way, you're not outpacing the new players trying to play the game (which you will inevitably end up doing through no fault of your own) AND simultaneously screwing them a little bit by being so far ahead you, do the necessary interaction and I forget, because it happened an hour ago or something.
      -Capping resistances.
-I'm not sure if the POB portion at the beginning was scripted, but I think a little more could have been done there. I don't think the items tab needed to be reviewed at the beginning, but it would have really helped me if I was told a little bit about the skill tab.
Maybe one way to think of it would be to group topics like that, figure out "how could I present that content inside of an 8 hour stream in a way that it could almost be a standalone 10 minute YT video for totally new players." Just a thought. Anyway, this is still really helping me, thanks for the video.

@@danielfauchier9355 the thing I'm most worried is what comes after the campaign, ziz says multiple times in the vid he makes an endgame video with this same character, showing the gearing up and skillpoint allocation etc but he didn't, the next video is just a 1 hour long slideshow about the map system which is appreciated for sure but, as a console player I have mo access to that POB system so I have to quess where the rest of the skillpoints go, not good.. also, you lose another 30% of your resistances when you kill the last boss of the campaign.. where am I supposed to get them resistances then? My loot luck is horrendous so I have to wear the gear with the right sockets and links so my resistances, armors, evasion etc are bit crappy already..

For other newer players like myself- Don't forget to have fun!
My first league (Ultimatum) I set the goal of just going slowly through act 1-10 and trying a bunch of stuff.
Last league I went faster to endgame and played a bunch in maps.
This league I'm looking to start doing some endgame bosses!
There is no pressure to play the game faster or slower if it isn't fun!

Kinda Newbie here with some feedback: I’m about 3 hrs in and thank you for this! I’m learning a lot and I like the longer form so I can understand things before the next topic starts and see how it flows in a play through. One suggestion, maybe hover over items a little longer when explaining things, for example when you got your first unique item, you hovered over it for a millisecond before vendoring it. You could have shown us what it looked like, what made it unique and why it was a bad unique item. The same thing happened with your first divination card. (You spoke more about the div cards butI guess I like to see things visually too as a newbie :-) ) Just an idea, looking forward to watching the rest, thank you again!
(For context, I played the first time last league but used no guides or builds, just played the story and got a bit overwhelmed around lvl 70 when my character was kinda a mess. Ive come back to this league with a build and want to do end game this time so im trying to learn more about the game)

Zizaran has lots of great vids for POE. first play POE like 5 yrs ago. not really having a good time and stop. decide to give it a go like 3 months ago. Always had problem with boss and maps until I learn the importance about resistance and life. When I play other RPG I always goes for glass cannon and clear every zone fully. your vids (especially the university) change my play style and helps me understand so much better. Still can't move as smooth as you do during boss fight but definitely surviving much better.
    Thank you very much

Completely new player looking to start this season, friends have been playing for a while now. This video is exactly what I was looking for. Only 2.5 hours in, but I like the drawn out, explain things as they become more important. Too much info early and out of context is hard to retain, more so because it's out of context and it's all just more words I don't understand talking about other words I don't understand. So far this has been perfect.

Dude this is a great guide, i never had played poe before only watched and got confused as expected, but following this i managed to do pretty much a act or 2 per day, this is looking to be a 10-12 first time play through, the best thing is not even learning the build but actually the fact i'm begging to make sense of the mechanics and how to use them, i had the same problem in act 3 (not having a 4 link) and i managed to it with 3 and adjust my sockets to be abble to use all the gems, i'm closing act 4 as i wrote this so big thanks, i would love for you to keep this as a series

2 things, you will get more gear links sockets etc just by progressing, thats why people speedrun acts in like 4 hours, and mechanics, imagine poe is scrooge mcduck simulator ,you want to get rich and pretty much every mechanic is just extraloot, thats usually specific or just extra.

Thanks for the guide! I decided to try to play POE again. I never made it much further then starting maps at the end game before my build fell apart and I lost motivation. The explanations along the way were great and not to over whelming. The below info I found very helpful and helped me from getting randomly 1 shot.
    - Prioritize on getting max resistances.
    - Stats being local vs globle. I can stop down grading items because them seem better by stats.
-Armor only being able to stop x amount of damage regardless of % reduction. I was able to swap gear for % physical damage taken as elemental dmg. This helped a lot on meaty hits.
-Using the Quartz flask to pass through enemies since a lot of the physical hits taken is from getting stuck on mobs.
Now for the video on mapping.

Zizaran as a new player getting into this game, your guides are fantastically helpful. I feel like if I can break into this game and really learn all the systems there's a ton of fun to be had and this type of walkthrough is great for me. It's like the game provides just text dump instructions for players, while this is like an in-game tutorial which is vastly more helpful for cementing understanding. I also appreciate the approach of metering out information as the player needs it so it can be absorbed a little at a time

Working my way though this video since I've been playing mostly the same cold build forever. Picked up new stuff even not being 'new'. I know its hard to balance the time dedicated to the video but it would help me a lot if you slowed down and hovered over things a little longer, especially on gems equipped. I had to backup the video about 10 times and set it to half speed when you moved everything around to start explosive arrow and several other times later on. I had keep going back to it since I didn't have the currency to buy all the gems at one time. I did have a nice 4 link bow and a good quiver :) Absolutely 100% thanks for doing this content!

One thing that I thought might be useful to mention in regards to looting that Ziz seemed to overlook is all those seemingly innocuous pieces of equipment that drops with full grey backgrounds. Each of those pieces has a red, blue and green socket, and therefore equals a Chromatic Orb when sold. You can stack up a ton of these if you pick them all up during the leveling process.
Edit: Seems you explicitly mention this at 5:04:36. Nice job! Fantastic guide too. I'm relatively new and have learned a ton.

Thank You! I have always wanted to try this game but was too intimidated to start from scratch. Your goal of not "over-explaining" made this easy to follow, informative, and an excellent intro to POE. I now feel like I can pick up one of your other build guides and start from scratch while taking in the story. I did find it very frustrating to follow you through each map, because mine always looked different. I think at some point you mentioned this mechanic, but it might be helpful to say it at the beginning of the run. It actually allowed me to level a bit faster which helped in the end. Can't wait to keep going with this build in the next video! Also, I was definitely that "new player" you mentioned that "picks up every item and identified it". That one made me laugh.

If it helps, I've probably put 2k+ hours in the game and I don't think I've ever beaten all the main content. Each season I usually get to maps, eventually hit a road block, and then I end up quitting. Just because I have crazy ADHD though and something else grabs my interest. This game is great and I have so many hours but literally still don't understand half the older league mechanics. It takes a lot of dedication to get to real "end game." I'm trying this league but already getting distracted lol.
If you have questions lmk and I can maybe help.

    • @Shupra94
      @Shupra94 2 роки тому

@@PropurtysChannel I think my main issue right now is finding builds. I find a guide but they dont explain anything a new player needs to know when leveling, such as in what order do I follow the skill tree, what gems to use when etc. The only video ive found that explains everything I need is an arc witch build but the guy shows him using the build from level 1 all the way through act 10, so I know how to follow the tree, and what gems to get and start using etc. I want to play around with a few different builds and level them but I just dont understand these build guides and how to level with them.

    • @PropurtysChannel
      @PropurtysChannel 2 роки тому +2

@@Shupra94 Don't over think it for now. Focus on enjoying the campaign etc. Eventually you'll be blasting through it anyway.
But the path of exile forums where builds are posted is my favorite place. Most of them have a leveling section in the guide telling you what to use etc. Also go get the path of building community edition program. Paste the build into path of building, using a tutorial vid if you need to.
A good new player build will have skill trees and gems set for certain levels. So you click a drop down and it might say "level 33 skill tree." The build creator will have these tiers so you can better see what your skill tree will look like around that level. Hope that makes sense. For example I am lightly following a Raider Flicker Strike build. Called Blooming or something like that. But in it there are trees for lvl 33, 45, 55, etc.
There is also an online version of path of building. But the community program is way better. Once you learn it, you can create your own builds far easier. But for now don't worry too much about it.
They changed leveling recently so the campaign is harder. Used to leveling was super easy with most skills. But now it can really depend on the skill. Since I am doing a ranger build I went with poisonous concoction skill to level with. It is actually really easy and felt good to level with. But that's up to what you want.
You likely won't complete the end game content this league, so instead try to take time learning all the past league mechanics etc. When a new league happens you will be way more prepared for it. The start of leagues are always really fun anyway.
I could be wrong and you are a pro. But I probably will end up quitting before endgame even though I'd really like to get there. Mostly because I lose focus on what I am doing.
      Good luck!

When you are teaching something complex refusing to repeat yourself makes it so that you would have to rewatch this video to get that information again if it's important make sure to repeat yourself during the video it's OK to say the same thing 3 times. As a specific example if you're pressing a key to open a submenu that you did at the beginning of the video saying I'm pressing control or I'm pressing alt will help reinforce that in a new player's mind.

dude this is great and the best content in this game. having said that you fly way to fast through selections and decisions you make on gear and passives. Go watch any guide for Elden ring then redo this for current content and it will be way better. I literally couldn't keep up with half the shit you were talking about. You said this was for beginners but you are talking to your veteran friends using acronyms and making very quick selections.

This guide has been super helpful to me! I think if theres anything I think could improve the experience it'd be a written checklist to follow to make sure you haven't missed anything along the way. something akin to the kay summoner html build guides. My biggest issue with that one was feeling like I was kinda lost to the wind to a degree so somewhere inbetween the two would be perfect.
plus if people ask if you'd covered something they could just check the list.

Listened to the whole thing (Idk what drops enabled means but I'm glad they will be! /s), but tbh this long form of just seeing someone do the thing helped me understand the expectations the game has of it's players. There is a lot of knowledge that's expected of the player, and you've done quite well to balance those expectations. This has been an awesome experience with the game and now in act nine after three days because FUUUUUUUUUUUCK are you fast.
Improvements that could be made is some sort of auditory call as each zone is entered. This was done pretty often, and I don't think any more often would have helped a ton, I'm just being not picky because this a lot of work for you to put in, and you're asking for feedback so there it is. I know that the zone is in the top right, but I have many things open, not just this video (I was following a different build guide so maybe this was just a me issue!). This is probably the only thing that got semi-annoying at times because of how fast you are, and not realizing you answering two questions means you're probably already two zones ahead of me. Lastly, if there are specific things that break the build you are playing (I know from the video that adding fire damage ruined it) I'd suggest putting the "obvious" ways one might fuck up in an overlay. Just the one or two things are critical to avoid. Because it just so happens that while I wasn't playing this build, I did fuck up in a similar way that felt innocuous.
My first character experience - to new players that might be thinking about playing:
I didn't follow your build and I feel like I learned a ton. I wouldn't say it's paramount to follow the example while playing along, but it *_IS_* paramount you have a guide. I missed a part in my guide where I actually need to STOP leveling certain gems because well, there wasn't room in the passives for raw stats.
I wrecked my build, and for a whole act I struggled INCREDIBLY hard. Went from no deaths to entering Act 7, and died about 30-40 times, and made very little progress in hours of playing. Vitality, steelskin had shut off entirely, but flame dash didn't shut off until a few levels into me going mad with why I was sucking so much. Soon as it was gone, I noticed the build had crumbled with my toon writing checks with life that it absolutely had no business trying to cash. I barely even looked at my life prior to this point just because of how OP I'd felt a few hours before.
Pay close attention to instructions. Literally even overleveling a skill (several in my case) can cause a lot of headache. lol

I have 300+ hours in the game, and I did learn something from this video. Mostly how to get through the acts fast. I have never followed a build guide and I never will, simply because the challenge of coming up with a build myself that will make it to tier 16 maps is my idea of fun in PoE (I do use other external resources, I'm just not copying builds 1:1). But having to spend days on the acts always bothered me. Now I won't waste my time anymore :D

These may sound like stupid questions but I'm relatively new >50 hours or so.
    1. Do you need to follow a build to do all the content in PoE? I understand following a build is great since it takes away the stress of the skill forest but is it actually needed?
    2. How do you farm for currency/gear? Is it something that will come naturally or are there any specific areas/tricks to farm?
    3. Is there any helpful guide as to all of the vendor recipes? Such as the jeweled rings and so forth.

    • @greenmechanoid5553
      @greenmechanoid5553 2 роки тому

Now this is not a Be All End All to the questions, but I'd wager it's a good start =)
      1. No not really, you can forge a new build and have it be completely viable, but the recommendation is to follow a build until you fully grasp the intermingling layers of complexity for both damage and defenses,
Meaning -> go with a build that's interesting for you and play it, after you get accustomed to it then fiddle around a bit with it and try to do small improvements on your own, if you feel you are grasping the mechanics of a build then try making a variation on it (best done in Standard where your league currency and items go after it ends),
**or** if you're feeling very bold about a concept for a build, Simply Try making it in Path of building, is it survivable enough? is it enough Damage? if both are "yes" then try making it ingame be warned though.. it might end up being either a Fantastic build or a horrible one (hence why it's recommended to follow builds until you either have a lot of time to try them out, or fully grasp how the interactions work for building a viable character. (even if it seem like a really good build in theory crafting ,does not mean it will translate to a good build ingame)
      2. This question is a big can of worms, Short answer, it comes as you play naturally, BUT there are strategies/builds that will increase the amount you get per hour played, although as a new player i'd recommend that you should forgo the deeper ways of making currency fast, as they require both knowledge and experience in the game to be fully effective,
good easy suggestion: Find a mechanic you like doing and keep running that and currency will come naturally with it,
good starter currency in a league is usually Heist/Expedition for lots of basic currency (up to exalts if yer lucky), or if you trade the things dropped Delve/Betrayal, ofc there's others also that are good currency, *try em all and check what you like running* it's usually the most important part of this equation.
      3. Yes as a matter of fact there is!, On the Poe wiki you have a full section on Vendor recipes that ("Should") contain them all (if new ones come in a league it might take a lil bit before they are added), otherwise usually in the builds that are made more towards Newer players the Path of Building Notes section tends to contain the "Relevant" recipes for leveling that build

For new players, veterans sometimes do hardcore (when you die, your character dies and is a game over).
So sometimes on the video Ziza will say "on hardcore", but i recomend people to try and learn the game, see if you enjoyed and then if you like a more challenging "challenge" you can look for especific videos on how to carry on with the hardcore mode of the game.

Awesome video! I watched this over time because there was no way I was watching it straight through lol I did pick up a few tidbits here and there. It would be awesome if you did something like this where once you finish the acts, explaining how our mindset should be with upgrading gear. It may be a difficult ask, but that is by far the most difficult part for me. I've learned quite a bit from playing with people, but I still feel that I'm missing something. It could be from lack of knowledge in crafting, which I'll be focusing on learning in the coming league. I've always been sort of intimidated with advanced crafting though. Anyway, great video for beginners. I wish I had something like this when I started.

Ooh, interesting! I first tried to seriously play PoE in 3.15 and your PoE University was helpful, but I felt like there were times when you would refer to things or gloss over stuff that I had to search for separately. Not a big deal, but I think this approach makes more sense: Explain as much as you can while you're playing. I'll watch through to make sure I remember everything for 3.18 🤔

Regarding phys mitigation they should just stop with the estimated reduction, and only show the actual reduction (from % physical damage reduction Stat). And then generally I think the Stat screen would be helped by having tool tips, so you can hover over various stats and get a brief explanation of how they work (especially armor and evasion). For res they could explain that the percentage in parens is the amount you have disregarding the cap, and that the cap for maximum res is 90%.

Most of the areas have some tricks to finding way. E.g., submerged passage in A1 - exit is always past the bridge, and way to miniboss is before that bridge, in A2 area with Alira (forgot it's name) Alira and spider cave spawn at top-left and bottom-right corners every time (although what appears where is random) etc. Pretty sure there are some guides to explain layouts somewhere, pics included.
